Following weeks of unrest in Minnesota over immigration enforcement in the state, White House border czar Tom Homan announced Thursday that he will begin reducing the number of federal agents in the state once state officials follow through on their pledge to begin cooperating with Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Homan, who was dispatched to Minnesota after the fatal shooting of Alex Pretti over the weekend, acknowledged that ICE and Customs and Border Patrol operations in the state had not been conducted “perfectly” and that changes needed to be made — but he also reserved significant criticism for Minnesota Democrats who have prevented federal agents from collecting the targets of enforcement operations in jails and prisons, forcing them to operate in a chaotic environment on the street.
After meeting with Governor Tim Walz, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, and Attorney General Keith Ellison over the last two days, Homan said he secured a commitment from the Democratic officials to allow county jails in the state notify ICE when they have a criminal illegal alien in custody so that agents can collect the individual in the security of the jail. That change, Homan said, will allow CBP and ICE to reduce the number of agents needed to conduct enforcement operations
“This is common-sense cooperation that allows us to draw down the number of people we have here. Yes, I said it. Draw down the number of people here,” Homan said.
Going forward, Homan said that ICE and CBP plan to focus on “targeted” enforcement actions rather than sweeping patrols, in which agents conduct traffic stops and foot patrols to check the immigration status of individuals they encounter.
“Targeted enforcement operations is the way we’ve always done it, and I think we got away from it a little bit,” Homan said.
While Homan touted what he says are commitments from state Democrats to begin assisting ICE, it’s unclear exactly what level of cooperation the agency will receive. Minnesota Democrats have maintained that they’ve always been willing to assist ICE when it comes to violent public safety threats, but that they won’t help agents round up individuals whose only crime was entering the country illegally.
“I shared with Mr. Homan the serious negative impacts this operation has had on Minneapolis and surrounding communities, as well as the strain it has placed on our local police officers,” Frey wrote in a post on social media after meeting with Homan.
“I also made it clear that Minneapolis does not and will not enforce federal immigration laws, and that we will remain focused on keeping our neighbors and streets safe,” he added.
President Donald Trump previously said he wants to “de-escalate” the situation in Minnesota. His comment followed the death of Alex Pretti, who was shot by federal agents on January 24.
Homan was sent to Minnesota to take over the operation previously led by Border Patrol Leader Gregory Bovino and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.
Of Bovino’s approach, the president said, “It wasn’t good here.”
Homan met with Democratic leaders in the state on January 27.
“The Governor and Homan agreed on the need for an ongoing dialogue and will continue working toward those goals, which the President also agreed to yesterday,” Minnesota Governor Tim Walz’s office said in a statement.
“We are not surrendering our mission at all. We are just doing it smarter,” Homan said.

Unfortunately, it seems that border patrol leader, Greg Bovino is to some extent being blamed as having caused the chaos in Minneapolis, and is therefore being relocated back to the border. Perhaps, Mr. Homan, who is no fool, is trying to take the heat off of the real instigators and accomplices, Walz, Ellis, and little French Frey. He is a tough guy, and just maybe he and Mr. Bovino are simply giving Walz, Ellis, and french Frey enough rope to hang themselves, since it is now on record that they say they have the same goals as President Trump. Time will tell. The history of trusting a democrat politician is like building a snowman in hell and expecting it to hold its shape.
Seeing this to come into reality and work, then maybe we will believe. Unfortunately, until the members leading the riots are taken care of, there will still be much resistance to ICE operations. DON’T TRUST THESE DEMOCRATS, SPEAKING WITH FORKED TONGUES.
They are NOT ready to cooperate. They may SAY they are. That’s what the left always does, and the right “trusts” what they are told. Like Muslims believe it’s OK to lie to the infidel, the Left believes lying to the Right is also OK. Fool me once…

Mr. Homan, do not believe a single word or “promise” from the Minnesota DFL. Don’t make nice with these demons. They, all of them, and their useful idiots, are only second in corruption and lies to the devil himself. This is anarchy, rioting and insurrection. On the part of the politicians, it’s also obstruction and conspiracy; treason, from the governor, AJ, DA’s and mayors who coopt the law, pure and simple. If DOJ and HSI know the funding source and safe houses, trainers, etc., freeze assets, roll in the tanks and get it over with. That would set a delightful precedent and send a clear message to other blue governors, while America is still a Constitutional Republic.

They won’t have any in jail, because they won’t arrest them.
Homan has a tough job and I’m glad he’s pulling back temporarily. We’ll be able to see the results soon. You know, crimes will go up with Minnesota officers refusing to arrest those illegal aliens because they’ll get scooped up by ICE in the jail.
This means Minnesota will not arrest criminal illegal aliens, but will still arrest U.S. citizens. Those Minnesota people who voted for, and protect, law enforcement that won’t arrest illegals are just hurting themselves, and deserve what they get.
Trump should shut off all federal money until the law is enforced equally.
I don’t trust the dems to notify the authorities. They hate America and seem to only support illegals.
I don’t care what method they use as long as they don’t just leave the state. The federal government needs to indict these state governments and these people that pass these illegal laws about being sanctuary States or cities or counties. They are the reason we have these problems, there can be no real argument against that. But, if they leave and don’t do their job, this will happen in state after state after State.

Isn’t that special, they decided to cooperate, how magnanimous, who says they have no class. This is same as agreement between Gaza and Israel, we know how that ends. If Minnesota wants it it’s way ands there is no willingness to apply the law for the fear of offending, withdraw all the payments to the state and let them deal with the problem they’ve created themselves. 1. Until the spineless local police chief orders the immediate arrest of ANY ICE-IMPEDING PROTESTER or ANY protester assulting, harassing or threatening ICE, DHS, or Border Patrol personnel.
2. The the criminal Walz, Frey, and Ellis must immediately announce publically and forcefully, that ALL rioting protesters will be arrested, and ANYONE interfering with ICE in any way, will also be arrested.
Also, that ALL protesters should go home and stay off the streets so ICE can do their jobs.
Until that happens, withdraw no one.

May I suggest you order all these protesters to do the same. At least that would be a positive approach to these illegals. Since you and Walz and every other prominent democrat politician is so hell bent on protecting these people. And you all want to kill American law enforcement people. I think do this or the only other alternative is arrest all you people like you did the Jan 6 peaceful demonstrators at the capitol. They didn’t do any violence like you and your protesters have done. Pretti was a violent agitator attacking ICE and bringing a gun to a gun fight. Stand to reason someone was going to be killed. Arresting all these demonstrators should be the first priority of the Minneapolis police dept. But like the mayor and Walz all these police chiefs are paid to obstruct ICE. And thereby President Trump. Soros is running this country.
I’ve just read Mr. Homan is staying until problem is solved. That is fine, identify the problem the cause of it the perpetrators and enablers of it and deal with it accordingly, use the laws and do the right thing. Appeasement has not worked yet negotiating with the thug is useless.
I’ve come too realize the protesters/rioters don’t really care if illegals are picked up and deported or not. Protesting/rioting is their job. They’re paid protesters. Raises the question, “when will DOJ cut the head off of the snake?” (cut the head off [soros & company money], the snake dies.)

The problems here have been Walz, Ellison and Frey preventing their police departments from doing their jobs. They are also responsible for inciting and directing the many Rioters and Non Peaceful protestors to resist. These people have spent weeks disrupting and obstructing Federal Law Enforcement from doing their jobs.
Now are Walz, Ellison, and Frey truly going to do their jobs? And are they truly going to allow the Police to do their job?
