Your Options

Three Kinds of Advantage Plan

The right one depends on your doctors and how you like to get care. An advisor matches you — at no cost.

HMO

The lowest-cost option, built around a local network and a primary doctor.

  • Lowest premiums, often $0
  • Use in-network providers
  • Pick a primary care doctor
  • Great if your doctors are local

PPO

More flexibility to see providers outside the network, for a higher premium.

  • See out-of-network doctors (costs more)
  • No referral needed for specialists
  • Better for travelers
  • Wider provider choice

Special Needs (SNP)

Tailored plans for specific situations and chronic conditions.

  • For chronic conditions (diabetes, heart, etc.)
  • For dual Medicare-Medicaid eligibility
  • Care coordinated around your needs
  • Often extra benefits

Common Questions

Advantage, Straight

Can I keep my doctor?
It depends on the plan's network — which is exactly why we start with your doctors and prescriptions, then only show you plans that include them. If keeping a specific doctor matters most, we'll tell you straight whether a plan works.
What extras are included?
Many Advantage plans add dental, vision, hearing, and fitness benefits — sometimes an over-the-counter allowance too. It varies by plan, so we compare the actual extras available where you live.
What is prior authorization?
For some services, the plan must approve coverage before you get care. It's a real trade-off of Advantage, so we flag which plans are lighter on it and explain how it works before you choose.
Can I switch back to Original Medicare later?
Yes, during the right enrollment periods. One caveat: switching to a Medigap plan afterward can require medical underwriting, so timing matters. We'll explain your options so you're not boxed in.
Is there really a $0 premium?
Many plans have a $0 monthly premium — but you still pay your regular Part B premium. We make the full cost picture clear, not just the headline number.
