The California Governor’s Race Has Become a Nightmare for Democrats

Could it really come to pass that no Democrat appears on the November general election ballot for governor in California? Despite handwringing from liberals and excited optimism from Republicans, it’s unlikely. But the fact that such an outcome is even possible underscores the absurdity of California’s voting procedures – and casts a spotlight on rampant corruption and shadiness in the Golden State’s elections.

For those unfamiliar with California politics, 16 years ago, the state exchanged its partisan primaries for a single June “jungle” primary in which every candidate appears on the same ballot. Then, the two candidates who garner the most votes – regardless of party – compete against one another in the November general election for the ultimate prize.

The whole scheme was clearly devised to help Democrats, who dominate the state. Specifically, the idea was that instead of choosing between a Republican and Democrat in a general election, voters could choose between a radical left Democrat and an even more radical left Democrat.

So, what’s the problem now? Well, there are twelve candidates in the race – nine Democrats and three Republicans. The most recent polls show two GOP candidates leading the pack – meaning that if the polls are accurate and the primary election were held today, Republicans Chad Bianco and Steve Hilton, commanding 15 percent and 13 percent support, respectively, in the latest RealClearPolitics average, would advance to the November general election.

In short, the next governor of California, which hasn’t elected a GOP candidate statewide since 2006, would be guaranteed to be a Republican, despite Republican candidates winning combined less than 30 percent of the overall vote share in the jungle primary.

Harold Meyerson, a liberal journalist but no hysteric, recently wrote a lengthy column in the American Prospect lamenting this potential outcome, which he obviously considers a very real possibility. As Meyerson sees it, this brewing calamity is not the result of the maladministration and rampant corruption that has characterized Democrat governance in California for the past two decades. Instead, he blames “the state’s absurd jungle primary.”

Predictably, Meyerson paints unflattering portraits of the Republican leaders:

“The Republican who’s led the field in most of the recent polls, Chad Bianco, is the sheriff of Riverside County. He’s been a member of the ultra-right-wing semi-militia Oath Keepers and is an avowed opponent of vaccines. The Republican running second, Steve Hilton, is a longtime conservative strategist, a Fox News commentator who has promoted Trump’s nonsense about the 2020 election being ‘stolen.’ Those could very well be the only choices Californians get this fall for governor.”

But while Meyerson blames the jungle primary for this very alarming possibility for Democrats, he ignores the other side of the equation: even in California, Democrats are unpopular. Why is it, Meyerson should be wondering, that no Democrat in the race has been able to break 12 percent support? Rep. Eric Swalwell is leading the liberal pack at 11.5 percent, followed by former Rep. Katie Porter at 11 percent and billionaire Tom Steyer at six percent.

It’s easy to see why Californians are not tripping over themselves to line up behind one Democrat candidate, particularly when it comes to affordability. As Salary.com reports, “Living costs in California are 42 percent higher than the U.S. national average.” Specific expenses are hair-raising compared to the rest of the country: Housing is 97 percent higher than average. Transportation and energy are 29 and 24 percent higher, respectively, and food is 15 percent higher than average.

Democrat governance has also produced high unemployment. The Sacramento Bee reports, “Not only is California’s unemployment rate again the nation’s highest among the 50 states, the number of unemployed workers in the state was up for the sixth straight month.”

Democrats have also provided their voters with the nation’s highest poverty rate. CalMatters reports, “California’s rate, at 17.7 percent, means that nearly 7 million of its residents are impoverished.” For all this, the Tax Foundation says Californians bear one of the nation’s heaviest tax burdens:

“California has a graduated state individual income tax, with rates ranging from 1.00 percent to 13.30 percent. An additional payroll tax on wage income brings the top rate to 14.4 percent. California has an 8.84 percent corporate income tax rate. California also has a 7.25 percent state sales tax rate and an average combined state and local sales tax rate of 8.98 percent. California has a 0.70 percent effective property tax rate on owner-occupied housing value… California has a 70.92 cents per gallon gas tax rate.”

Which brings us back to voting, but perhaps not in the way you were expecting. Millions of Californians have been voting with their feet. According to data provided by the Public Policy Institute of California (PPIC), the Golden State has had net population losses every year since 2001: “California now experiences net losses among higher-income households as well as middle and lower-income households.”

Considering incompetent Democrat governance and high taxes, it seems California should be ripe for a political revolution like the one that may be brewing. But Republicans getting their hopes up for an all-GOP general election ballot in one of the nation’s most liberal states should remember this pesky little fact: California has enacted universal mail-in voting.

That means that California election officials send postage paid ballots to all 23 million people listed on their voter rolls. Ominously, California election officials have fought DOJ attempts to audit these rolls, and a Clinton-appointed judge dismissed a lawsuit that would have compelled the state to turn them over to federal authorities. That ruling was appealed, of course, but it’s unlikely that the dispute will be resolved before state officials send the ballots out on May 4th.

Ballot harvesting is legal in California, and the state will begin accepting filled out ballots starting May 5th and will do so through June 9th, seven days after the primary. This isn’t going to be a red-letter day for election integrity. Don’t be surprised if a Democrat or two suddenly makes a miraculous last-minute push before – or even after – primary day and winds up on the November ballot.

Still, The New York Times poll tracker shows Bianco and Hilton vying for the top spot in the last seven surveys. So, it may well be that California voters are so disgusted with Democrat incompetence that they are finally ready to trade up, and no amount of Democrat election shenanigans can stop the wave that’s building. Hope springs eternal in the human heart.

If democrats are so “unpopular”, why are there so many? Election corruption and with so many barriers to integrity is all you have to know. The results speak for themselves, California has turned into a hell hole courtesy of a veto proof one party democrat control. Undoing the damage will take a miracle.

With all the evidence discovered since the 2020 election, and eye witnesses attesting to the shenanigan’s that occurred in that election, I am disappointed to see you call that nonsense. That one sentence tells me that you really don’t realize just how despicable the democrats are or you may have a touch of TDS, it seems to be contagious and extremely difficult to recover from

No one who knows how much the Dems want to win does not count out their ability to do so. Their Democrat machine has proved to be one of the worst, right up there with Chicago! While I am praying that Republicans win big in the mid-terms, What we really need is for every Republican needs to get out to vote in local, state and federal elections this year!! We must increase conservative’s presence in ALL government. It is the ONLY way to win!

The very thought of Eric Swalwell leading the Democratic pack amazes me. It was just revealed that he and the perennial liar, Adam Schiff have been taking bribes from Venezuela’s deposed dictator, Maduro. Katie Porter has nothing to offer but being controlled. Bianco and Hilton have great credentials though coming from different origins. Which ill kick butt and take names once in office. There’s so much corruption to clean up, it will be painful.

Like the democrats haven’t figured out why they lost in 2024 the same holds true in CA. The voting by mail is the only way they can win. They blame everything on someone else. Today’s’ excuse. The reason the Somalis stole 9 billion dollars from the Minnesota tax payers was because the GOP leadership going back to Reagan had privatized the govt and let this fraud open to happen. What? Why not go back further. Maybe it happened under FDR. These lefties are not to be believed. This never happened under Reagan or any president after that till Obama and continued strong again under Biden. Because they were in the business of buying voters. Swallwel should he win will tax the middle and upper middle class and businesses to death. To pay for the millions of illegals that have taken up residence in CA. For years women would come in and give birth and return back to Mexico. It was a lucrative business that was supported by every dem governor for years. And now it’s even worse. Don’t believe a rep will be voted in. They recalled Newsom and he beat it. Even though people were out in force demonstrating against him. It didn’t matter. Their voting fraud scheme is in place and works like clockwork it has for years and is in better shape today than ever. You never see one Californian raise their voice against the Newsom regime. LA can burn to the ground, SF is a putrid mess of homeless camps and drug overdoses. And getting worse every day. CA doesn’t belong to the US. They do what they want and many dem states with them. They live in their communist little world to take over America at the first chance they get. Just mull over their explanation of the Somalis fraud in Minneapolis. Their base will swallow that hook line and sinker as the truth. And if that doesn’t work they’ll get a judge to say this. To give it legitimacy. The destruction of America is going on and on.

The “nonsense” about the 2020 election being stolen is nonsense. Look up the 2020 IRS 990 tax return for a nonprofit called, Center for Technology and Civic Life (CTCL). This organization was started by 3 former Democratic operatives. Donations for 2020 were $539,956,850, from six donors, all anonymous, which is allowed. They then went around the country giving, in various amounts, with strings attached, to 2,500 county election offices: for the purpose of, “To support the safe administration of public elections during thee COVI-19 pandemic. investigation shows that much of the donations came the Mark Zuckerberg foundation. In some cases in Wisconsin, they embedded some of their staff into local election offices to “help” administer the election, which is against the law.

According to the Capital Research Center, CTCL used tens of millions of funds funneled from Zuckerberg’s community foundations, other leftist “dark money empires” and even federal dollars designated for personal protective equipment, to monetarily urge secretaries of state to adopt sloppy election practices such as mass mail-in balloting and unmonitored drop boxes in the name of protecting voters against COVID-19.
For additional reporting read, “Rigged: How the Media, Big Tech, and the Democrats Seized Our Elections”, by Mollie Hemingway. Behind all of this was a Democratic Party attorney named Mark Elias who was the mastermind.

It’s history now but should put us on guard to what can happen if you don’t pay attention.

My family and I chose to leave CA in 2011 to some degree at that time to their chagrin. That soon changed as they adjusted to AZ. In retrospect, leading the pack, six kids and my wife, they are all happy with my decision. looking back at CA politics and Gavy and the way that buffoon has turned CA into the sick mess he has turned it into – well, need I say more?

A plea needs to be made to all Republicans. No more than TWO should be allowed to enter the Governors race. Republicans have never been able to look beyond their vanity. Without a focussed effort we can’t win and don’t deserve to win. Any candidate needs to stress fiscal responsibility and how it will save California!

Perhaps there is a light at the end of the tunnel….that finally, the citizens of this state will have had enough and truly look at their situation from their own eyes….not the media fed lies and shennanigins of their leadership. Perhaps…….they will rise up and say, “enough is enough”….perhaps, but if their past is any indication, it will be more of the same. Eventually, as people continue to leave….all that will be left will be the poor, the idigent, addicts and state employees……all of them homeless, hungry and holding out their hands. What a wonderful future view.

Democrats are a nightmare for Democrats. They’re simply so hopelessly deep and intermeshed in their corruption and hypocrisy that it’s now impossible for them to dig their way out; they’ve pulled out the stops on how far they’re willing to go to keep power and destroy now the entire western culture, and, globally. Unfortunately this includes their constituency base of useful idiots brainwashed by MSM and academia’s social “intelligentsia.”

Sounds hopeful for CA conservative voters (yes…we exist in larger numbers than you can imagine). But, election integrity (or lack thereof) can rob these voters. If not election fraud, one can fairly reliably count on any GOP candidate to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Can only pray for a GOP victory in Commiefornia.

The Socialist Communist DemoRAT party cess pool candidates for ALL elections consists of big corrupt turds, little bitch-whining turds, massive Socialist/Commie turds, and a bunch of insignificant diddy-ball wannabe bigger turds. All are camouflaged as front-running DemoRATS.

But no matter how many ways anyone looks at the selection of DemoRAT candidate SCUM, they are ALL AMERICA-LAST, ILLEGALS-FIRST, MEGA CORRUPT, LYING, INCOMPETENT $*#T-TURDS THAT CAN’T WAIT TO RAISE YOUR TAXES, CREATE NEW AND ENDLESS REGULATIONS AND MANDATES ON INDIVIDUALS AND BUSINESSES.
AND THEY HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO DESIRE OR IDEAS TO HELP WE THE PEOPLE. STILL FURTHER, THEY HAVE NOTHING TO OFFER EXCEPT THE FOLLOWING, AND THIS IS JUST A SAMPLING:

  • Reopen the borders
  • Protect, support and defend murderers, rapists, child molesters, human traffickers, arsonists, cartel drug runners, Soros-paid anarchists, violent rioters, socialist-loving Commies, cop-haters and MANY other forms of scum
  • Abolish ICE
  • Defund police and other law enforcement
  • Defend and send hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars to nations that HATE AMERICA
  • Stop ALL investigations into Waste Fraud and Abuse (NOTHING to see here)
  • Insist biological men get to play in ALL women’s and girls sports
  • FAILED public schools across the country ESPECIALLY in ALL Blue States and Blue cities
  • Treat innocent victims like criminals and the criminals like the true victims
  • Threaten and use Cancel Culture violent tactics against ANYONE, ANY BUSINESS, OR ANY GROUP that doesn’t support the radical left-wing Socialist Commie agenda, or speaks out against it.
  • As one can see, the Dems have a LOT TO OFFER.

California has some of the worse roads, K-12 public schools, the highest energy prices and an absurd amount of micro managing of its populace by a government filled with incompetents, many of whom have never worked in a real job. Californians have traditionally voted against them selves election after election. I find it hard to believe that this won’t happen again, but I hope I’m wrong.

We were in New Mexico a few weeks ago and paid $2.30/gallon for regular unleaded. In the San Jose, CA area it’s north of $4.59. I’m experiencing the highest utility bills ever even though I’m not using more energy than in the past.

Here’s a thought outside the box: Just what if Demoncrats don’t really want to win the Governorship this upcoming election and want a Republican elected so they can clean up their mess? It might work in one sense, then in another with where the cuts of waste and fraud are found and cleaned up it might make the CA GOP less popular than it now is, especially with the deadbeats and Demo-crooks. Anyway, it’s a thought. I am so glad I do not live in the wacky-land of CA. I pity the folks that do and would like to move out but can’t for whatever the reason.

I consider CA to be just like NY city, they have voted in these idiots for decades. Unless there’s proof of massive fraud in CA elections for the last 20 years or so, they got what the deserved. They wanted leftist pro BS politicians in office, and they got it. Just like NYC with Mamdani, they were stupid enough to elect them, so they can live with it. I have been praying that things will change for the good in California, Virginia, New York, and other blue states. And about the 2020 election, that is not nonsense about it being stolen. There was no way that Biden and the democrats could possibly have won and there were too many things that was not right about the election when there was a water main that broke which didn’t break and during that time democrat counters were the only ones who remained in the building pulling out suitcases full of illegal ballots and Georgia bad ballots and truck loads of ballots disappearing and ballot boxes burning and machines messing up more in conservative republican voting areas. There were absokutely way too many things wrong and all against Republicans. None against democrats. Yes, I believe without doubt the 2020 election was stolen. Then there was no way that Biden could have gotten 81 million votes more than any election in history when he couldn’t even get just a very few people out to his campaigns when he did have a campaign but most of the time sitting in a basement. He knew that the election was already bought and paid for. And Virginia is another stolen elections state.
