The parental rights organization Defending Education published a new report Tuesday revealing that 32 states are now compliant with the Trump administration’s interpretation of Title IX and prohibit males from competing in women’s sports.
While a significant number of states already banned men from participating in women’s athletics before this year, President Donald Trump signed an executive order on February 5 that specifically restricted federal funds from going to schools that allow males to compete on women’s teams under Title IX, the landmark civil rights law that prohibits sex-based discrimination. Several states that previously allowed men to compete on women’s teams changed their policies to comply with the order.
States that have banned men from playing in women’s sports since the executive order include New Hampshire, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu signed a bill into law last year that banned boys from K-12 sports designated for girls, but the state’s interscholastic athletic association officially adopted the ruling in February after the executive order. The interscholastic athletic associations for Pennsylvania and Wisconsin updated their rules that same month.
On February 10, Virginia’s high school athletic association made the same decision to ban males from female sports. Governor Glenn Youngkin praised the move on X.
“Common sense wins!” he posted. “Today, the governing bodies for Virginia’s public and private high school athletics announced they would follow President Trump’s EO to protect girls sports.”
Despite a majority of states now banning men from women’s athletics, 18 states still allow males who claim transgender status to compete on women’s sports teams, stealing opportunities from females. The list of states still not compliant with Title IX includes notable blue states such as California, Maine, New York, Oregon, and Washington.
Nicki Neily, who serves as president of Defending Education, posted on X that these states are endangering the safety of their female athletes.
“18 states are still ignoring federal law and letting men compete in women’s sports—putting fairness and safety on the line,” Neily said. “This is an outright defiance of Title IX and a refusal to protect women and girls.”
Maine and California have both pushed back against the administration and refused to follow Title IX. The Department of Education (DOE) is in the process of stripping Maine of federal K-12 funding as a result of the state’s actions.
In April, the administration sued Maine for continuing to allow male athletes to compete on women’s teams. Craig Trainor, who serves as an acting assistant secretary in the DOE, said that the state’s leaders chose to “prioritize an extremist ideological agenda over their students’ safety, privacy, and dignity.”
In June, the federal Department of Education determined that the California Department of Education and the California Interscholastic Federation were in violation of Title IX for continuing to allow biological men to compete with women. The administration then sued both entities last week for their violations of Title IX.

About damn time!!! Should have never been an issue to begin with. Idiots. If I had kids in one of these states that allowed it, I would leave that state or home school my kids. I would not allow any male to be able to go into my girl’s bathrooms or locker rooms. Anyone can say anything (like they are female instead of male) but it doesn’t make it true. I’m sure there are those men out there who say they are female only to be able to compete with females or expose themselves.
I can’t get the video out of my head: a huge male athlete spiking a volleyball directly into a young woman’s head. Thirty-two states have taken the only rational course of action. Thank you and shame on the rest for what looks like a criminal violation of women’s safety.

What is wrong with the REAL women in this world that they would roll over and accept this garbage of biological men competing in women’s sports just so they can win and set ridiculous records? Leah Thomas ranked 54th in men’s swimming. FIFTYFOURTH!!! The ONLY reason he invaded women’s swimming was so that he could win and set records. It’s great that 32 states are using common sense, but it should be all 50 states and every nation in the world. How the heck did this lunacy ever become a “thing”? There is no such thing as a human transsexual. There is no way to change the XX chromosome to an XY chromosome and vice versa with current technology. There may come a day when that’s possible, but it’s not now. So we’re discussing nonsense. No matter how much you want to believe in nonsense, it’s still nonsense. Goes back to the old saying about praying for water to flow uphill. So hard do you have to pray? Why, until water flows uphill, of course.

The bans are all well and good, but they still don’t work, even in deep red West Virginia. Our legislature passed a bill in 2021, but the 4th circuit court rejected the law, and blocked the state from enforcing it. This May, a male competed in the West Virginia state finals for shot put and discus. He placed 8th and 3rd, but in both cases he displaced female athletes and eliminated them from the final round of competition at the regional and state level.

This is a tremendous win for Women Sports! I appauld these 32 States. Bravo for them! However, all other States who have not Banned Men from Women Sports must be forced into Compliance with Federal Laws. This Issue isn’t left up to the States Decision but must be mandated for All USA States! There are totally different distinctions between Biological Men vs Women!
There should be Laws in place too where individuals must do Biological Gender Reveals as personal obligation to others where no confusion can be made by all parties involved. There can be no place in Society hidding your Biological Gender, period!

It’s great that 32 states have banned banned men in women’s sports. However, many schools in some cities within those states still allow it. That must stop.

Education should be at each state, Federal, Executive branch money shouldn’t be paying for education, since we can see, having a centralized educational authority doesn’t work, it only empowers bad leaders to brainwash K-12 to become stupid adults who learn to lie, cheat and steal their way to the top.
