Watch Your Six: How Socialism Is Quietly Advancing in America

The Democratic Socialists of America back candidates in Maine, Minnesota, New York and California who want government to own energy, transportation, housing and heavy industry.

The Democratic Socialists of America

“Watch your six” is a military aviator’s way of saying “Watch behind you!” The phrase is urgent, clear, and fast, started in WWI. Politically, we need to “watch our six!” Socialism is advancing.

This is not speculation, not made-up fear, just a fact. The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) are behind multiple Democratic candidates in Maine, Minnesota, New York, California, and beyond, offering aid, money, and ideological cover. Goal: End traditional constitutional process.

In a number of public, unappreciated ways, DSA-supported candidates are methodically undermining the coalition of diverse thinkers who have – until now – upheld our Constitution. Their agenda is that of “Progressives” or “Democratic Socialists,” not “traditional Democrats.”

In their words, their “socialism” requires “a democratic transformation of the institutions of civil society, particularly those in the economic sphere… to collectively own the key economic drivers that dominate our lives, such as energy production and transportation.”

This is very hard to distinguish from orthodox communism, as practiced for years – government ownership of the “means of production” for “energy and transportation” – in the Soviet Union, Communist East Germany, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Yugoslavia, Cuba, Venezuela.

That admission alone is breathtaking, as is the unwillingness of candidates to disown the view. But the mission is bigger. Progressive candidates masquerading as traditional Democrats have a bigger goal. They want to control “strategically important sectors like housing, utilities, and heavy industry, with “democratic planning,” that is Soviet-style “central planning.”

As one of their leaders wrote, they want “non-reformist reforms” or “structural reforms,” “healthcare for all… at no cost to individuals,” paid by someone, “universal gender affirming care” without parental consent, paid for by someone, “free medical education,” a “new green deal” with “massive mobilization to transition the economy to renewable resources” for an “eco-socialist” world with a “federal jobs guarantee” and  “public ownership… of corporations.”

Like Soviet communism, which controlled young minds using the “Young Pioneers” and “Komsomol,” they want “free public education,” a centrally controlled curriculum, “cancellation of all student debt,” and “universal childcare” – all paid by someone.

They want mandated outcomes for producers or “engines of solidarity” – mandated conformity to “build a broad constituency for social rights,” a “32-hour work week” for those who choose to work, “no reduction in pay or benefits,” permanent wealth tax on the “upper class.”

In 2026, they want Maine to elect “Progressives” using the “Democratic Party” name, “transforming it from within.” They describe this as “the dirty break,” or “blueprint for a new party,” which one DSA leader calls winning “from within, in guerrilla insurgency fashion.”

Apparently, the “dirty break” signals a clandestine effort in states like Maine versus a “clean break” toward a neo-communist or Progressive state. Democratic parties from Maine to Minnesota have reportedly been using DSA’s free labor to assist in November’s vote.

These new Democrats – working to take over “from within” – say the goal is a “mass socialist political formation.” In an ironic twist, since Martin Luther King wanted equal opportunity, upward mobility, and judgment of his children on “the content of their character” and not skin color – DSA enshrines race, yet says this is anti-racist.

At the same time, the Progressives push legalized prostitution (sex work), aim to “abolish mandatory minimum penalties” for major felonies, end “cash bail,” gut police departments and counter-narcotics, demand “reparations for slavery” for 160 years ago, universal rent control (no private sector landlords), and uncontained genders.

If this were not extraordinary enough, the Progressives or Democrat Socialists will end immigration law enforcement (abolishing ICE), slash the US military, stop sanctions on communist countries, transfer Palestine to the Arabs, and end aid to Israel. They oppose “Israel has a right to exist.”

In their own words, the Progressives – to which many Democratic candidates in 2026 owe their races – want “non-citizen residents,” e.g., illegal aliens, to have the right to vote, no Electoral College (protecting smaller states), and anti-constitutional limits on the US Supreme Court.

Bluntly, “Progressivism” or “Democratic Socialism” has raised its ugly head before, five times. Each time, the “early utopian” era (1870-1912), “first red scare” (1917-1920), “popular front” (1930s-40s), “second red scare” (1947-54), and “radical new left” (1960s and 1970s), traditional Americans of all parties stopped it. Watch your six!  It is time to stop this madness again.
