DC’s Dem Mayor Says City Will Work with Trump on Crime “Indefinitely”

In the latest vindication of President Donald Trump’s efforts to clean up crime in Washington, D.C., the city’s Democrat Mayor, Muriel Bowser, issued an order this week requiring local police to cooperate with federal authorities “to the maximum extent allowable by law within the District.” As a result, Bowser said, federal law enforcement could have a presence in the city “indefinitely.”

Trump declared a crime emergency last month to take operational control of the DCPD and activated 800 National Guard troops to augment that effort. The number of National Guard troops deployed to the city had increased to more than 2,200 by the end of August, with the administration reportedly considering extending their deployment in the city through December.

However, under the D.C. Home Rule Act, the President can only federalize DCPD for up to 30 days, with that deadline approaching next week. Bowser wrote on X that the new order will “provide the pathway forward beyond the Presidential emergency.”

Bowser’s order is an acknowledgment that Trump’s plan to clean up the city is working. Violent crime in the capital had decreased by 22 percent a week after Trump federalized the DCPD. Even CNN reported on Tuesday that the President’s actions have “resulted in a 37 percent decrease in carjackings, a 50 percent drop in robberies, and a 23 percent decrease in violent crime.”

Late last month, Bowser acknowledged the extraordinary success of Trump’s efforts, saying, “We greatly appreciate the surge of officers that enhance what MPD has been able to do in this city.”

“We know that when carjackings go down, when use of guns goes down, when homicide or robbery go down, neighborhoods feel safer and are safer, so this surge has been important to us,” Bowser added.

Conservative commentator Scherie Murray joined Newsmax on Wednesday and praised Bowser for actually working with the President to solve the serious crime problem.

“Well, I give her some credit. You know, she’s showing herself as more of a moderate Democrat, and so that thought and ideology being center in the Democratic Party is far gone,” Murray said. “But take her example. Take her lead. She right now is supporting the administration’s deployment of help to help [the police]. And the numbers are showing it. Carjackings are down. The use of guns are down. Homicides are down. And so she’s giving credit to the administration where it’s due, and more Democrats should do that.”

Attorney General Pam Bondi revealed Wednesday in a post on X that the Trump administration’s efforts are leading to a significant number of arrests on a nightly basis.

“92 arrests last night and 27 illegal firearms seized in Washington, D.C.,” Bondi said. “Arrests included two homicide suspects and five arrests for assault against law enforcement. @DEAHQ, @FBI, and @DCPoliceDept also executed warrants and seized a pill press and two kilograms of narcotics.”

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also revealed on Wednesday that there have been 1,761 total arrests made so far as part of the president’s initiative to clean up the city.

In March, Trump created the Safe and Beautiful Task Force to serve as a joint effort among government agencies to eliminate crime in Washington, D.C. Bowser’s executive order on Wednesday established the Safe and Beautiful Emergency Operations Center (SBEOC) that will assist “in managing the District’s response to the Safe and Beautiful Task Force, established by the President, as well as the Presidential declaration of emergency.”

This center will “coordinate centralized communications; formulate post-emergency planning; formulate post-emergency operations; and ensure coordination with federal law enforcement to the maximum extent allowable by law within the District.” The purpose of the SBEOC will be “reducing gun violence, other violent crime and achieving the goals of he SBEOC workstreams: public safety and justice, encampments and homelessness, beautification and finance and economic resilience.”

Time will tell if Bowser will keep her word. It would be great if she did and more woke dem mayors and governors would follow suit. It is about saving lives. No bail no punishment for the actions of these criminals has shown it led to more crime and the criminals owning the cities. The democrats don’t take any responsibility for their actions. Haven’t heard one democrat say sorry our plan isn’t working. Defunding the police was a bad plan. No bail was a bad decision. They themselves do what criminals are doing, whatever feels good. Destroying the population and the country. Not finding solutions in a bipartisan manner. Never. Trump didn’t die last weekend and many people were so distraught they had to reach for medication and seek psychiatric help. This narrative about Trump being at death’s door will keep going for months if not years. While they were the most closed regime under Biden. President Trump is the most open administration ever. But they can’t stand that because he is successful. That is why they have run themselves into a corner by opposing the restoring of law and order in DC. They are now known as pro crime, pro criminals and anti their constituents that voted them in. What can we take away from all that. Money bought them the election. Not brains. Vote them out.

If only the power-hungry anti-Trump Blue mayors of other cities, (NYC, LA, Chicago, Portland, OR, etc.) would pay attention and cooperate for the benefit of their citizens. Mayor Bowser has courage and enough self-confidence to work WITH rather than against a president who is trying to help to make our cities safe as they should be.

So much for cooperating with DJT. I just saw a headline that the DC attorney general filed suit to end the federal National Guard deployment. Guess this liberal, unpatriotic JERK doesn’t like seeing how our POTUS is reducing crime.

Which begs the question: Why is the dc attorney general suing Trump over the National Guard deployment? Maybe it’s just me, but I though AGs were on the side of enforcing the law and prosecuting criminals. Then again, U.S. AGs like holder, lynch, garland and even barr didn’t seem to care much about what their job description actually entailed either. Combined with rogue activists in robes, the judicial system has become a sham.

Obviously the Mayor and the Attorney General are not on the same page! What is up with that? Who is really in charge cooperating with the Natl.Guard and willing to clean up the District.
What is the AG’s motivation? I hope the Mayor’s viewpoints override the vendatta of the AG and the the AG is sent packing with the sympathetic judge and the lawsuit!

The D.C. self-rule experiment can safely be called a massive failure. To leave these knuckleheads in charge of our national capital is a venture that needs to cease at once. They most likely have received huge salaries and for what? They have proven that they don’t care about, nor are they able to manage even a miniscule city less than 10 square miles in area. They have excelled at turning it into a third rate, crime infested hellhole. Enough is enough.

Fascinating. Shes taking a political risk. Some yrs ago dc elected a young man who promised to clean up the districts putrid school system. He tried to follow up on his campaign promise by appointing a highly motivated woman as superintendent. The mayor was booted out next election. Turns out the residents liked the corruption. We’ll see.

Just got to wonder, where will all these criminals be put? I am thinking the jails will be overflowing, and the dems will scream about those “cruel conditions”.

It is sad to think that our nation’s capital is a haven of criminal activity. It is clear that Muriel Bowser is one of the few democrats that has common sense.

So why is DC now suing Trump for the help for which the Mayor thanked him?

The mayor says she will stand with Trump, other reports say D.C. is suing Trump over the guard…..makes you wonder. But elected people always make me wonder……if they are not all short on smarts/commonsense/ and just normal thinking. No one wants a crime ridden community, right? Seems not if you look at N.Y. and Chicago, L.A, Houston, and D.C……must be something in the water.

This is no coin toss response to the current administration’s intention and enterprises to render America’s streets safe and secure for every American citizen—the ones who pay the taxes to support public endeavors. This mayor recognizes the mood of the nation and realizes her public career would be jeopardized by unseemly resistance to common sense
actions taken by one who has the power to do so.

Perhaps, in an effort to foster cooperation, we need to refer to people in their role as city/county/state/federal officials rather than by political party.

President Trump had every right to take over Washington, DC (District of Criminals?) because its Federal Territory has become a haunted land by the democrat criminals. The democrats will never change because they are reprobates.
