As Americans head into Labor Day Weekend, it will be amid a flood of good economic news yet again disproving doomsday predictions from the “expert” class.
In a breaking development on Thursday, the White House announced that international visitors spent a record-breaking $126.9 billion in the United States during the first six months of this year, a 2.2 percent increase over the previous year and a 3.5 percent increase from the pre-COVID peak in 2018.
Democrats and corporate media pundits had warned that President Donald Trump’s strict enforcement of immigration law would harm the country’s tourism sector. But it appears that precisely the opposite has occurred, as foreign travelers have been more eager than ever to come to and spend their money in the United States.
Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick praised Trump for ushering in that tourism growth in spite of media doomsday prognostications.
“President Trump has revitalized our country, ushering in the Golden Age of America,” Lutnick said to the Washington Examiner. “Today’s record tourism numbers prove it. With historic prosperity and President Trump’s focus on public safety, people from around the world are coming to visit in record numbers.”
The nation’s strong tourism growth is another economic win for the President, adding to a recent string of victories.
The White House additionally announced this week that this Labor Day Weekend will likely see the lowest gas prices in five years, according to GasBuddy. Americans can expect to pay about $3.15 per gallon at the pump this weekend on average, compared to $3.79 per gallon in 2022 and $3.77 per gallon in 2023.
Hotel rates, meanwhile, are down about 11 percent over last year, airfare is down six percent, and car rental costs are down three percent.
Energy Secretary Chris Wright said that the lower gas prices are a result of the President fulfilling his promises.
“President Trump campaigned on lowering costs and this Labor Day Weekend, the American people will see the results firsthand at the gas pump — with the lowest gas prices in years,” Wright said. “His approach is simple and commonsense: more American energy means lower costs, more jobs, and more prosperity.”
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the decrease in costs is a result of Trump’s policies reinvigorating America’s energy dominance.
“Thanks to President Trump fully unleashing American energy dominance, gas prices this summer are at five-year lows and families are saving significant money at the pump,” Leavitt told Fox News. “President Trump ended Joe Biden’s green new scam policies and is making America affordable again.”
As AMAC Newsline has previously reported, America’s economic growth also shattered expectations for the second quarter of the year. Gross domestic product (GDP) increased by a total 3.3 percent from April to June.
Trump has also continued to deliver on his promise to lower inflation, consistently ranked as the top issue for voters in last year’s election. Inflation in the first quarter of the year was 3.7 percent, when the White House transitioned from the Biden administration to the Trump administration. The inflation rate decreased to just 2.1 percent during the second quarter of the year as Trump’s policies began taking effect.

Strict enforcement of immigration laws would harm tourism, now we’ve heard it all, I could not stop laughing, it was not meant to be funny only warning I know. Leave it to the left always come up with the reason, each one more desperate than the other. Perhaps they should turn their lavish mansions onto a B and B and take few tourists in
Gas and groceries may be cheaper in some parts of the country but here on the left (west) coast, not so much.
It’s $2.69 for regular here in my area of East Texas…
Cheaper gas is definitely not the case here in blue Illinois where fat a** Gov. Prickster and his brain-dead goons in the statehouse made sure we’d be paying the highest gas taxes in the country forever by passing legislation that guaranteed a twice-a-year gas tax hike without their having to vote for it. Spineless, gutless weasels, all of them. May they eventually rot in h*ll!
It depends where you live, Cost of gas has been going up and down! It has gone to from $3.59 than back up to $3.99
I live in MI and gas is still $3.49/gal here. That is way too high still.
As I travel around Wisconsin and Minnesota this Labor Day weekend and into Iowa I noticed that the gas prices were $2.89, $2.98, $3.13 and $3.19. Its still better than when Biden was President.
Where I live in Northwest Columbus gas is around 3.30 a gallon, eggs are still close to $5.00 a dozen, more in some cases. A T-bone steak will cost you $19 a pound, hamburger nine dollars a pound, an organic chicken four-fifty a pound and the price of wine has not dropped.
I don’t see prices going down anywhere.
President Trump has done a great job for the country and is fulfillng the promises and mandates of the voters. The economy is much better, however, in my part of the country, gasoline is still about the same as it was; groceries as a whole are not much lower, if any. My income is now less but insurance, taxes and even some groceries are still going up.
Hopefully this will continue to improve. Getting more of the demoncrats out of the way will probably help.
Gas 5.45 in CA
Man, they just make up numbers with no proof behind them! This article is FAKE NEWS! ???? The Korea-like propaganda coming out of this administration is crazy. They say there is no inflation, and tourism/travel is in decline, but we made more money? Make it make sense…
oh boy! the elite hate “the people” being able to have fun. MAGA!
If you were going to fire your best workers to replace them with cheap labor I will shed no tears for you. Sure you worded your comment correctly?
Bulllllllll shitttttttt
Cheapest Labor Day in five years? Where might that be? Went out to dinner the Saturday before Labor Day. That dinner cost me at least 20 to 25 dollars more than it would have last year, prices are ridiculous. Yes, it does cost a bit less to get around these days and that’s a good thing. But that’s about it. Is lower fuel supposed to reflect the price of everything else? Oh, and yes, eggs are cheaper. So if you eat eggs 3 meals a day 7 days a week, you might be eating cheaper than you did last year. But if you think groceries are less than obviously you don’t do your own shopping. And just found out that my home heating fuel will be 50 cents a gallon more this winter than it was last winter…and that’s with a prebuy! Everything is up… taxes, insurances, food, fuel, etc. So to sum it up, all things considered, it will cost me between a thousand and twelve hundred dollars more to live this year than it did last year… so far the most expensive year I remember, Labor Day included. So, you know what, I don’t really care how many more tourists there are and how much more they are spending. They aren’t paying my bills, I am! So be careful what you read. Like it or not, it doesn’t always tell the whole story. It was the great Rush Limbaugh who once said, ‘Don’t listen to what you hear, listen to what you see.’

is right?
hERE IN CENTRAL az SOUTH OF pHOENIX GAS IS 3.18
So far here in central Texas, groceries have gone down very little if any. Last night, I just paid $3.71 per gallon on the way back from Burnett TX. I’m sure not ready to ring the old Hoo Ha Bell just yet!
Tourism in the NW states are way down due to the lack of tourists from Canada & I have watched clips of Las Vegas that have tourism way down. So what are the countries that have increased tourists this year & what states are they visiting in this big increase. And we all want lower gas prices, but look back at our history if oil goes below $60 and it was not pretty.
At cabinet meeting this week, Trump said there is no inflation & where did he come up with that. I also question his education in math as he said he was cutting some prescription drugs 1500% & it appears that no one in this cabinet is brave enough to tell him that is not possible. Nuttlick & Bessent either do not understand or do not want to admit that tariffs are starting to increase inflation in USA. What was transparent at this meeting was not the TRUTH.
What about the countries not allowing packages to be shipped to America because of the tariffs.
LIES. You cannot believe a damned word his administration says.
