In 2022, Dr. Anthony Fauci promised to fully cooperate with Congress because he had "nothing to hide." Yet during the July 29 Senate hearing, he invoked the Fifth Amendment 111 times.
He cannot accept the protection of a sweeping federal pardon and then invoke the Fifth Amendment to avoid answering questions about the very conduct that pardon protects.
The pardon does not protect him from accountability before the American people. It does not permit him to lie under oath. It does not excuse perjury. And it should not be treated as a license to obstruct lawful congressional oversight.
When the consequences were this severe, the standard must be this high.
