Trump Slashes IRS, Fulfills Campaign Promise

The Trump administration has successfully reduced the Internal Revenue Service’s workforce by 26,000 in just four months. This is a 25 percent reduction in the number of employees at the agency since the beginning of President Donald Trump’s second term, and a major feather in the cap of the 47th President, who promised to reverse the Biden-era beefing up of the agency.

The most recent employment data is from May, with more reductions likely occurring since then. The IRS garnered significant controversy in 2022 after Joe Biden signed the “Inflation Reduction Act” into law when Democrats controlled both the House and the Senate. The bill included almost $80 billion that allowed the agency to surpass 100,000 employees by 2025. The goal was to eventually hire 87,000 new employees over the course of a decade. Trump promised on the campaign trail to roll back that funding.

“It actually sets us back, as opposed to moves us forward,” Trump said on the campaign of the Biden IRS funding. “And [I will] rescind all unspent funds under the misnamed Inflation Reduction Act.”

On the same day he returned to office, Trump signed an executive order issuing a hiring freeze for federal civilian employees. He then issued another executive order extending the freeze on April 17. The executive order states that the hiring freeze for the IRS will remain in effect until the Secretary of the Treasury “determines that it is in the national interest to terminate the freeze and publishes notice of such determination in the Federal Register.”

This hiring freeze has facilitated the reduction in the IRS workforce that has been carried out through buyouts and firings. The Washington Times reported that the workforce reduction includes “27% of the tax examiners and 26% of the revenue agents.” Information technology is “shedding 23% of its workforce” with management and analysis cutting “28% of its staff.”

Of the employees cut from the IRS, 4,600 were part of a buyout in January. Another 17,000 volunteered for early retirement. Only 300 were part of a “reduction in force” while thousands more “were part of smaller separation programs.” The workforce is expected to drop to 77,000 from 103,000 in January.

Conservative social media influencer Bo Loudon celebrated the news in a post on X.

“BREAKING: President Trump just FIRED 26,000 IRS agents, which is: 27% of their tax examiners. 26% of their revenue agents. 25% of their entire workforce. 28% of their Management & Analysis Division. 23% of their information technology workforce,” he said. “THIS IS WHAT I VOTED FOR!”

Trump has continued to focus on tax reform by signing the One Big Beautiful Bill into law on July 4. This new law eliminates taxes on tips up to $25,000 per year, eliminates taxes on overtime up to $12,500 per year, and creates an additional tax deduction of $6,000 for seniors 65 and older.

About time. The Federal Government should not be the largest employer bar none. And you shouldn’t expect to get an easy job and do nothing for 8 hours a day.

DOGE found waste fraud and abuse. Trump is trimming the workforce as promised. And the democrats had no idea how to do that. To keep voters they gave out more money to those unwilling to work and hired more people to take more money from those that did work. That is not governing that is bribing people with their own tax money to vote for the dems. Did democrat voters see that? I doubt it. They will never ever admit that president Trump is on the right path to save this country and make its people prosperous again. Common sense is not a word in the dems vocabulary. Alas.

The IRS should be terminated and replaced with, as President Trump termed it the External Revenue Service, and soon. Income tax, or tariffs, but not both! The U.S. government did just fine with just tariffs until Democrat Woodrow Wilson got greedy, created the income tax, and the Federal Reserve Bank. Both must go!

No tax on SS did not happen. SS payments are the only insurance payments that are taxed. It is our money that was taken through taxes that is being taxed again. Too many seniors for some reason vote for Dems?

What Biden did over his four years was a crime. Biden’s time in office was a continuation of what Obama and Biden did during eight worthless years then. These two individuals caused immense damage. Everything they touched was cursed.
Praise be to GOD, we now have a dynamic President in President Trump who’s working tirelessly to undo what Obama and Biden did. And of late, what puppet Biden did with increasing the I.R.S. in an attempt to weaponize this Agency against all who oppose the Democrats Agenda, especially those on the Christian Right. I’m thrilled seeing President Trump making good on his promise to rid America of all these Government Agents (I.R.S.) who did not have Republican Voters best interests in mind. Another “Win” for MAGA Voters!

Imagine where we would be in these initiatives to correct course had the first Trump administration been allowed to proceed without the conspiracy to thwart the agenda. Tag that on to this 2nd term without the Biden disaster and judicial conspiracy. Pray we get through this term and have a decent candidate to follow on.

Now get rid of them completely. There’s no reason we can’t have a set tax, without loopholes, that the employers take care of sending in to the government. Then the government needs to stop suckling the people who don’t want to work. The federal government (Congress) needs to do its job as outlined in the US Constitution.

“I cannot undertake to lay my finger on that article of the Constitution which granted a right to Congress of expending, on objects of benevolence, the money of their constituents.” ~ James Madison, 4 Annals of Congress 179, 1794

The campaign promise was to close the IRS, not reduce the numbers. It was to get rid of the income tax totally. Another promise partially kept. Just like no tax on OT that turned into a $12,000 deduction. And the no tax on SS that turned into a $6,000 deduction.

All of this is a good start. Pass HR25 and that will bring we the people out of bondage.
Now redue the tax codes. One for seniors, retired. One for American workers. One for the rich, no schedule 1040A for deductions.
AND LAST: one tax code for all illegals in the US. 25% tax on all the money they get or got free from taxpayers & taking American jobs !!! IT COMES.OUT OF THE CHECKS THEY RECEIVE. JUST LIKE MEDICARE COMES OUT OF THE SOCIAL SECURITY CHECKS.
IF EMPLOYED: THE EMPLOYER WITHHOLDS THE 25% OF THEIR WAGES AND SENDS IT TO AN ACCOUNT, TO BE PAID QUARTERLY.
MAKE ILLEGALS PAY FOR THE DEBT.

I for one, just hope that the IRS gets their tech system revamped. That’s one giant step in the right direction. Their operation does not need more people, it needs up to date and working tech to do the job needed. Maybe this will be a turning point for them. Hope so.

The IRS purchased excessive amounts of ammunition for the increase in agents. Now that the IRS is downsizing they will not need as much ammo or weapons. I submit that the excess weapons be transferred to the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) and auctioned off, just like weapons from DoD are handled.

Promise to get rid of taxes on tips, overtime, and social security checks did not happen as promised , even tho sometimes Trump says that he fulfilled this. It is a slight of hand and end run around Congress by increasing some tax deductions at tax time that are hidden in the Big Bill. These cuts are not part of WH transparency as promised by the WH administration & Karoline claims at press briefings. Be honest and transparent and explain what is permanent and what is not.

One campaign promise is the main reason I voted for Trump in 2024. Trump said he would end the Ukraine war in 24 hours & Ukraine is getting bombed worst today than they were six months ago. The worst memory of this term is Feb 28 when Trump & JD Vance bashed Vallensky in the WH meeting & which made this double worse is that it was on media that the entire world was watching . Just last week, Trump is still stating that this is Biden’s war & not his & that this war never would have started if he was POTUS. Well, it has started and it is Putin that started the war and not Biden or Vallensky!

Ok, so Biden added 87,000 IRS agents, aaaand Trump says he eliminated 26,000 sooo, if I carry the one and … yep! That’s 61,000 additional IRS agents that Trump did nothing about! More math tells me that each state can celebrate 1,220 additional IRS agents. Thank goodness the democrats continue to run circles around this country’s republicans who celebrate only moving toward destruction more slowly than the democrats. What are we even doing when the next democrat president issues executive orders eliminating Trump’s? Yay, 61,000 additional IRS agents instead of 87,000. ???? Congress has done nothing.

Don’t cheer this if you’re concerned about the national debt. The Government Accountability Office (GAO) did a study in 2024 that shows the federal government loses over $500 billion EVERY YEAR to tax fraud. This makes DOGE savings look like peanuts. The vast majority committing tax fraud are high-income earners who know the IRS doesn’t have the resources to come after them.
