Shari'a law should not be applied by an American court or government institution.

The Honorable Randy Fine

Florida’s 6th Congressional District

244 Cannon House Office Building

Washington, DC 20515

Dear Congressman Fine,

On behalf of AMAC Action, the advocacy affiliate of the Association of Mature American Citizens (AMAC), with over 2 million members nationwide, I write to express our strong support for H.R. 5512, the No Shari’a Act.

The United States is a nation governed by the Constitution and the rule of law. Our constitutional protections, including freedom of religion, freedom of speech, due process, and equal protection under the law, belong to every American and must remain paramount. No religious or foreign legal code should be applied by an American court or government institution when doing so would violate those fundamental rights.

H.R. 5512 reinforces this important principle by prohibiting the application of Shari’a law when its application would violate rights guaranteed by the Constitution. This legislation does not diminish Americans' constitutional right to freely practice their faith. Rather, it affirms that religious liberty exists alongside an equally important principle: the Constitution remains the supreme law of the land.

America has long welcomed people of different faiths and backgrounds while uniting its citizens under a common constitutional framework. Protecting that framework is essential to preserving individual liberty, equal justice, and the freedoms that distinguish our nation.

AMAC Action thanks you for introducing H.R. 5512 and for your commitment to defending the constitutional rights of all Americans. We urge Congress to support the No Shari’a Act and reaffirm that no competing legal system may supersede the protections guaranteed by the United States Constitution.

Sincerely,

Rebecca Weber

CEO, Association of Mature American Citizens (AMAC)

Chairwoman, AMAC Action
