AMAC in Support of Election Integrity in Pennsylvania
AMAC Action supports Pennsylvania's H.B. 1061, requiring proof of citizenship to vote—a commonsense step to strengthen election integrity and voter confidence.
The right to vote is one of the most essential privileges of American citizenship, and protecting the integrity of that right is vital to preserving our representative government.

Dear Representative Warner,
On behalf of AMAC Action, the advocacy affiliate of the Association of Mature American Citizens (AMAC), with over 2 million members nationwide, including more than 91,031 in Pennsylvania, I write in strong support of H.B. 1061, Proof of Citizenship to Vote. This legislation reinforces the fundamental requirement that only citizens may participate in our democratic processes.
The right to vote is one of the most essential privileges of American citizenship, and protecting the integrity of that right is vital to preserving our representative government. At a time when public trust in our institutions has been deeply strained, Pennsylvania has an opportunity to lead by example. By advancing H.B. 1061, the Commonwealth can take a profound step toward rebuilding that trust and giving voters greater confidence that its elections are secure, transparent, and faithful to the founding principles of our country.
Americans routinely provide identification to board a commercial flight, open financial accounts, and conduct other important and basic activities. Requiring reasonable documentation to verify U.S. citizenship when registering to vote is a commonsense piece of legislation that all states should follow. AMAC Action also appreciates the bill's expansion of verifiable identification options for eligible citizens who may not have access to a passport or birth certificate.
Pennsylvanians deserve confidence that every lawful vote is protected and that the rules governing their elections are faithfully enforced. H.B. 1061 would put Pennsylvania on the correct path to strengthening that trust while safeguarding a right generations of Americans have fought to preserve.
AMAC Action thanks you for introducing H.B. 1061 and looks forward to helping it advance out of the House State Government Committee.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Bengtson
Vice President
