The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) on Wednesday canceled some of the mortgages for illegal migrants, as the department looks to prioritize federal home loans for U.S. citizens.
Illegal migrants are already ineligible for Federal Housing Administration loans, but the new order will give HUD greater enforcement power to ensure that illegal migrants are not somehow getting assistance anyway, the National Review reported.
The order is part of HUD’s and the Department of Homeland Security’s new initiative that seeks to end “wasteful misappropriation” of taxpayer-funded public housing resources that are going to illegal immigrants, per Fox News.
HUD Secretary Scott Turner confirmed the news on social media, stating that his department was prioritizing Americans over those in the country illegally.
“Today, HUD terminated Biden’s taxpayer-backed FHA mortgages for illegal aliens,” Turner posted on X. “American taxpayers will no longer subsidize open borders by offering home loans to those who enter our nation illegally.”
The secretary added that the mortgages should benefit people who “play by the rules” and not illegal migrants.
The order also disqualifies migrants in the country legally, but who are in the U.S. on a temporary basis. It also disqualifies Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals recipients, and people who are pending asylum because there is no guarantee that their residency status will be renewed or accepted, per the National Review.
The cancelation is expected to go into effect on May 25, 2025.

Why on earth would illegal aliens be given such loans in the first place?
The “banks” better deal with this and NOT have the defaults fall onto the taxpayers! Betting there will now be squatters to deal with…guess it will be easier to find and deport them! Why aren’t any Biden enemies of our country being charged yet? This is outrageous!

Wow! What a unique idea. Prioritize American citizens over those here illegally. Why didn’t the Biden Administration think of that? Oh, that’s right it would not have benefited their objective of ruining this country.
Common sense seems to be returning to America. After years of putting citizens in second or third place, it is about time we are thought of first.

It could not get more curiouser, federal agency ,that is self explanatory , giving mortgages to criminals ,being here illegally makes them that. Who was supposed to pay for those loans?Will any of those who treated the taxpayer money in this criminal manner be prosecuted for theft.

A American Citizen must give the leader a Social Security number when applying for a mortgage and go thru an extensive financial background check, how do illegal immigrants get these loans.

What is hard to understand is that while DOGE and the President are busy cutting costs and waste for us, we can’t have the tax cuts permanently because “how will it be paid for”. DOGE has shown us a trillion so far in cuts and that, somehow, won’t pay for us to get out from under onerous taxes? THAT makes no sense at all. The government behaves like a huge criminal organization that, once they have their hooks in us, just can’t let us go.
Well Leslie has a point. When they lose their mortgages, they can legally squat in many states and it’s not easy to get them out. The military has delt with this problem for years. If the house is not being lived in by a “real” purchaser a squatter can basically live in the house for free. It’s not unusual for a military family to deploy a couple of years to return and find their house inhabited by squatters and it takes a long and costly legal battle to get them out of their house. I don’t understand how that happens, but it happens. We have some really stupid laws in this country that are in direct support of criminals.
