"Fear Itself"

Exposing the Left's Mind-Killing Agenda

By Tammy Bruce | Published: July 23, 2024

AMAC'S ANALYSIS

"Fear Itself: Exposing the Left's Mind-Killing Agenda" by Tammy Bruce is a critical examination of contemporary leftist politics in America, particularly focusing on what Bruce argues is a fear-mongering approach used to suppress individual thought and maintain control. In the book, Bruce contends that the political left capitalizes on fears—whether they be about the environment, public health, or social issues—to manipulate public perception and policy. Bruce discusses how this strategy of promoting fear limits meaningful debate and stifles the free exchange of ideas, which she believes are essential for a healthy democracy. Throughout the book, she provides examples from media, academia, and politics to illustrate how fear is cultivated and disseminated among the public to achieve political ends.

Tammy Bruce

Tammy Bruce, an Independent Conservative, has traversed a unique political journey that reflects her commitment to principles rather than party affiliations. Initially a lifelong Democrat, Bruce actively participated in Democratic campaigns in the 1990s. However, in 2008, she broke away from the party, registering as unaffiliated. Leveraging her background as a liberal community organizer, she now dedicates herself to exposing and challenging the leftist agenda. Despite her Democratic roots, Bruce has consistently supported conservative figures, including Presidents Reagan and both Bushes. It was the transparent and direct approach of Donald Trump, coupled with his love for the country, that prompted her to become an ardent supporter, a commitment she maintains. A vocal advocate for free speech and the Second Amendment, Bruce’s extensive experience as a radio talk show host, notably with the nationally syndicated “Tammy Bruce Show,” has shaped her views and contributed to her active role in political commentary. She joined Fox News in 2005 as a Political Contributor, hosting her show on Fox Nation and providing insightful commentary on various issues for the Association for Mature Americans (AMAC). She is currently serving as spokeswoman for the Department of State.
