Registration closes 30 days out — offices stay open until 9 p.m. on deadline day. Ohio has no same-day registration, so don’t sit on it.

In-person early voting starts the day after registration closes and runs about four weeks at your county board, including the final Saturday and Sunday. No early voting the Monday before Election Day.

Property-tax relief — watch your second-half 2026 bill

Five bills signed December 19 deliver over $3 billion in relief across three years. The big one caps automatic school property-tax growth at inflation, starting with second-half 2026 bills, and counties can now add homestead relief for lower-income seniors.
Our note: Check the bill when it lands. If it didn’t move, ask your county auditor why — the law says it should have.

Property-tax abolition — a 2027 fight, not a 2026 vote

The citizen amendment to abolish property taxes outright fell short on signatures and didn’t file for this November. Organizers are aiming for the 2027 ballot instead.
Our note: Straight talk: there is nothing to vote on this November. But the pressure it created helped force December’s relief package — and year two will be bigger.
