GOP Must Investigate the Deep State’s Censorship Apparatus

AMAC Exclusive – By Kathryn Vitale

If Republicans do as expected and retake control of the House of Representatives in November, one of the first items on their list of investigations should be the recent bombshell revelations about an extensive censorship operation the Department of Homeland Security conducted during the 2020 election.

According to investigative journalist John Solomon, DHS’s cybersecurity division, also known as CISA, helped form and then partnered with a consortium of four private organizations – known collectively as the “Election Integrity Partnership” (EIP) – to counter what they called “rumors and disinformation around the 2020 election.” From September 2020 through January 2021, this CISA-backed consortium – which took input from left-wing organizations, including the Democratic National Committee (but not the RNC) – worked around the clock to flag millions of social media posts, online articles, political commentators, and social media influencers that contradicted the left’s narrative on everything from COVID-19 to Hunter Biden’s shady business dealings. Unsurprisingly, the consortium overwhelmingly targeted conservatives for censorship.

This wasn’t just an isolated incident. After their work in 2020, the Biden administration granted members of the consortium millions of taxpayer dollars to continue their censorship activities.

Solomon’s report quickly made waves in conservative media when it was released last month. Sean Hannity, whose own show was one of the consortium’s targets, interviewed John Solomon and noted that Solomon’s report revealed the American government is “endorsing a Pravda-like propaganda system of information.” Hannity added, “This would be illegal by any definition of election law…I want to know what members of Congress were knowledgeable of this. I want to know what protections we’ll have in future elections.” An analysis of the report from the Heritage Foundation, the premier Washington think tank since the Reagan years, concluded that the consortium is “acting as a proxy for the American left, conducting an information war against its perceived enemies on the right.” Forbes magazine reported that the censorship operation “suggests” the “need for a regime of transparency and disclosure to prevent mission creep and political manipulation.”

The Solomon report also immediately caught the attention of prominent Republican members of Congress, all of whom have vowed to increase transparency by further investigating the censorship consortium’s actions. Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) called the federal government’s actions to censor speech “fundamental violations of the First Amendment” and promised that “holding both Big Tech and the government agencies they colluded with accountable will be a top priority of a Republican majority.”

Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-GA), a member of the House Oversight Committee and the Homeland Security Committee, said that “this particular type of censorship” was “incredibly concerning” and “something we need to look into and investigate further.” Clyde announced plans to introduce a bill that would ban the federal government from censoring speech by proxy and would allow anyone targeted by their censorship to take legal action. Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) asserted that the report shows that the federal government was likely attempting to “skirt the law” to “censor Americans” and “abridge their free speech,” and vowed to “continue to look into” the government’s actions.

Several members of Congress are already preparing for an investigation into CISA’s censorship machine. Rep. James Comer (R-KY), ranking member of the House Oversight Committee, has prepared letters asking to preserve evidence for future hearings, since this type of censorship operation is a grave misuse of taxpayer dollars. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) reported that she is working with other members of Congress to assemble evidence preservation letters.

Public outrage following the investigative report was so widespread that EIP issued a lengthy response reaffirming their “non-partisan” status, denying that they had pressured any social media company to remove content, and asserting that they were blameless. However, they then further exposed their partisanship by admitting that they had primarily targeted right-leaning content because they believed conservatives were the main spreaders of “disinformation.”

But Americans shouldn’t have to simply trust that EIP and unelected government bureaucrats didn’t violate their First Amendment freedoms and federal law. Congress, vested with oversight authority by the Constitution, has a responsibility to shine a light on the full extent of their actions and the federal government’s involvement in the operation.

The Supreme Court has held that the government “may not induce, encourage or promote private persons to accomplish what it is constitutionally forbidden to accomplish.” To preserve the First Amendment rights of all Americans, Congress must therefore investigate and end any government effort to manipulate speech in the public square – whether in person or online, directly or through proxies – especially concerning the conduct of our elections.

Just a few points:

1) John Solomon has been doing excellent investigative reporting on a broad range of subjects for years. One of a very small group of legitimate investigative reporters still left in this country. So his unbiased reporting is always a welcome read.

2) Congress has NO prosecutorial powers. That is they have no means to actually bring anyone to justice for any corruption or criminal activity found. Yes, they can hold endless hearings on virtually everything wrong in this country. To “shine a bright light” as the article states on any corruption or criminal activity they find. However, the only thing they can do with those results is turn them over to the Executive Branch, specifically the DOJ / FBI, for potential action in the form of a criminal referral. This is where things typically die. Neither the DOJ nor the FBI is obligated to anything with the referral, other than acknowledge they read it. Congress could of course “force” the issue by using the “power of the purse” to force the DOJ / FBI to follow-up, but history has shown neither McConnell nor McCarthy have the stomach for playing hardball. So as is typical of anything potentially involving either embrassing or damaging the so-called Deep State, DOJ / FBI typically ignores or slow-walks any follow-up action until the matter had faded from the short-term memory of both Congress and the public’s attention.

The bottom line is when the only legitimate prosecutorial mechanism the federal government has to bring those that violate our laws to justice, meaning the DOJ / FBI, is also unfortunately part of the so-called Deep State (at least their senior leadership is), it makes getting any justice extremely problematic at this point. None the less, I’m sure that for those that enjoy the theater of endless Congressional hearings that ultimately go nowhere, there is some satisfaction to having some of the corrupt players brought before Congress to non-answer questions that are quite predictable. To truly fix the problem would at least require a complete tear down and rebuild of both the DOJ and FBI to eliminate the Deep State players intentionally gumming up the works. I just don’t see that happening anytime soon.

Step #1 is focus on the elections. Get done what needs to be done there first. Without the numbers in Congress and governors and state legislatures this entire article is mute.

I will not hold my breath and expect the Republicans in Congress to do anything but a token penalty against Big Tech and the Left. We need more like Rep. Jim Jordan, Senator Scott, Kennedy and Paul to dig deep and find out what the Democrats have done to our country and penalize those responsible. The Biden Administration is the Second most corrupt ever, bested only by the Obama Administration and it is clear the “Deep State” has its claws into every level of the DC Swamp!

Not only does this need to be investigated, if those involved are found complicit, their needs to be arrests and trials. This borders on treason! The left uses fear to persuade and control others. It’s time for them to start fearing for their jobs and freedom. They are “enemies of the state”!

It’s ironic that both political parties bleat about the end of Democracy in America. From the revelations I’ve read from Solomon and a few others, it is already ended. The fight to regain it is just starting now with this election.

Investigations are procedural in nature… and have become merely black holes with inaction and years upon years of useless delay. They allow politicians to merely make partisan statements in the media and adopt positions without ever taking meaningful corrective action on behalf of our Country.

Reversals of bad policies through effective action are required before it’s lights out for all of us in the USA.

Unfortunately. Republicans have rarely, if ever, have taken reversal corrective actions even when they totally control the government. They have helped create monster agencies which they can no longer control via Congressional oversight because the agency leaders are smarter and craftier than the Congress persons. and they delay, delay, delay and feign ignorance of what their agencies have been up to undermining our freedoms and national security.

“Accountability” and “Oversight” have become meaningless like “Investigation.”

Notwithstanding, the DEMS are killing us, killing the economy, killing the dollar, killing through endless and failed foreign wars, etc. DEM corruption is unrivaled anywhere.

Throw all DEMS out of power across all of the boards.

According to Shorty Chesser, in the 1940’s, if you wanted to get into politics, you thru your hat into the ring in church. If the hat came sailing back you should forget it. Then came Lyndon Baines Johnson’s law that scared many ministers from talking politics in Church. It was a shame, because we should want the same value systems in future politicians that we want in clergy selected to run churches.

Federal Campaign Laws did not come into existence because the electorate was outraged rather because liberal trust astroturf-campaigns (PEW) complained corporate money influenced and warped election outcomes.

As a result, Federal Campaign Laws regulated the right of flesh and blood citizen’s to exercise freedom of the press, while politicians cannot regulate how much media-corporations spend, because that would infringe on corporate 1st Amendment rights.

It is no surprise that media corporations, elevated to Pravda like royalty, have since towed the liberal Democrat Party line and woke corporate policy with spiked, overplayed or even made up coverage of politics.

Meanwhile, 230 provides similar cover to the censors working for social media giants.

After the coming Red Wave, “we the people” need to demand the Republicans address these unequal rights and censorship!

We all know their title for that incident was ridiculous so perhaps when the left once again commits massive voter fraud her in a little over a week, perhaps we can all join together and give the rat bastards a real insurrection……..as in purple haired politicians h*nging from lampost type insurrections.
This…..rule by fascist dictator has got to be stopped by any means necessary. The mid terms better sure as hell better be clean this time while we endure another 2 years living under a false leader, former vice president Joseph Brandon

After sleepy Joe saw how this agency helped to control his opponent’s speech, he funded their budget with extra money. Sounds like an impeachment offense to me.
