DOGE Isn’t Just About Efficiency

A month in, murmurs are arising in some corners of the Republican coalition against the provocative slash-and-burn campaign of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Maine Senator Susan Collins said DOGE is “making mistakes.” Nebraska Representative Don Bacon told DOGE to “measure twice before cutting.” Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski declared “Many of these abrupt terminations will do more harm than good.”

Now, one can argue that these voices simply represent the “Never-Trump” faction of the Republican Party, which is only continuing to lose influence—and that analysis is correct. (As an aside, Collins, from effectively blue Maine, deserves more understanding than Murkowski from red Alaska, but I digress.)

But when it comes to a simple calculation of government efficiency, the brake-pedal enthusiasts may have a point. Perhaps cutting a Securities and Exchange Commission research tool will make the government less efficient in some ways, not more. Journalists (whose salaries are often paid and sources often come from the very government agencies they defend) will certainly spend the coming weeks and years accumulating a veritable encyclopedia of defenestrated programs that “do good.”

And perhaps they do. But “doing good” does not automatically justify the expense to taxpayers.

DOGE finally gives voice to those Americans who lean toward that old-fashioned notion that the federal government does not have a duty to resolve every single problem on earth. Last I checked, as long as the military keeps running, Social Security checks keep clearing, and national park trash cans keep being emptied, nobody seems terribly bothered by government shutdowns.

But even if we could be convinced that some programs do genuine good, that is not the point. We must cut, and fast because our nation depends upon it—though not for the reasons that may first come to mind.

This isn’t just about our debt, however monumental it has become. And, contrary to DOGE’s name, it’s not just about efficiency. Governments can never be truly efficient, even if obvious waste, grift, and graft are excised.

No, DOGE is necessary because so much of the federal government as it exists today is a weapon wielded by the left to retain its power against the will of the people. The federal government uses our tax dollars to employ the left’s voters, fund the left’s ideological mission at home and abroad, and sustain a vast system of left-wing organizations, publications, and activists to advance its agenda.

That is the case no matter who is elected to any office, meaning conservatives have been fighting an asymmetric political battle for generations.

USAID—the cash cow of international progressivism—is the proverbial tip of the iceberg. The general public was aghast at its funding of transgender operas and third-world sex changes. But the less salacious grant recipients are even more insidious.

For example, USAID has given nearly half a billion dollars to the Internews Network, devoted to, in the words of its president, battling “disinformation” (i.e. any ideas the left doesn’t like) on the global stage. Over 70 percent of Internews Network’s revenue comes from government sources. Much of the rest comes from major left-wing foundations (which likewise receive truckloads of taxpayer money).

Another $2 million of taxpayer money was given to the Chinese for Affirmative Action. The name is self-explanatory.

The federal government also promised to give $2.6 million to Make the Road New York, a group that advocates to abolish ICE.

If you’re keeping track so far, that means our government is paying for restricting free speech, assaulting equality under the law, and undermining federal immigration law. And that’s not even counting state-sponsored lawfare, leaks, investigations, hacks, and other attacks on American citizens, from President Trump down to Paul Vaughn.

Mind you, these examples are chosen at random. Take a deep dive into government transparency resources like the Capital Research Center or Influence Watch if you really want to know just how aggressively your paycheck withholding is being used to demolish fundamental American principles.

Would that “waste” and “inefficiency” be our only problems? The real threat is that, right now, American taxpayers are being forced to pay for the destruction of our constitutional freedoms and the rule of law.

With that in mind, DOGE isn’t just some aggressive cost-saving initiative. It’s an existential outburst of the American republic desperately trying to cut the noose around its neck—a noose it was forced to pay for itself.

President Trump and Elon Musk can’t stop now. Indeed, President Trump was right when he told Musk to be even more aggressive. We have four years to rid ourselves of as much of the left’s publicly funded power apparatus as we can. Because one day they’ll be back.

When that happens, we have only one hope to keep future fights fair: Destroy or debilitate every taxpayer-purchased political weapon we can before they’re used against the American people again.

There are things that decent person would not do , not because he might be found out but because he is decent. That decency needs to return if anything is to change, DOGE idea is fantastic, find the waste and put stop to it, bring efficiency and accountability back in, but how do you repair a crooked character, how do you bring back decency, it needs to start with children, build their character.

RINOs are NO DIFFERENT than Left-wing, progressive, socialist, America-LAST, America-HATING Commie liberals. If ANY AMERICAN, LET ALONE POLITICIAN is against finding and ELIMINATING CORRUPTION, FRAUD, WASTE AND ABUSE IN GOVERRNMENT (or SUPPORTS IT) SHOULD BE DEPORTED. THEY ARE TRULY AMERICA’S ENEMIES WITHIN AND SHOULD BE TREATED AS SUCH.

“Efficiency” is a word describing a condition of positive effect. DOGE isn’t going to make efficiency 100% and isn’t tasked to do so. It is tasked with identifying the sources of waste and to report that waste and mitigate it as well to make the government more efficient. DOGE isn’t pulling out the entire lawn, it is weeding out the detriments to the lawn, allowing the lawn to grow and prosper—the lawn is ultimately the People, citizens, taxpayers and their Constitutional rights. Sadly, the weeds are those government workers who don’t support the lawn and fertilized the weeds (themselves).

All this is because of Corporate greed and our US congress sending our jobs over seas in the 80″s. How much money have they received over the years.
This made CHINA rich and all the crooked elected REPRESENTATIVES.

I find it incomprehensible that any American Taxpayer in their right mind can be against finding where, why and how we have wasteful spending. is the process and possibly the result painful? I very well may be the case in many instances. Is the process and the result necessary? You bet your life it is necessary and worth the pain. If you were suddenly losing money out of your checking or savings, would you not want to know how, where and why money was suddenly bleeding out? We are not talking here about a small amount of money. We are talking about possibly Billions. We cannot let this continue and it is certainly not from just isolated instances. No opportunity or bureau should be spared. Yes there are definitely some government funding that is worthwhile, but most certainly there is waste. Putting a pause in place to determine the worthwhile vs the waste is not unreasonable.
This is your money and my money. It is not play money but amounts to our Government stealing our money paying for programs that are not worthwhile or necessary. Just look at the National Debt that will take lifetimes to repay at this point. That burdens our children, grandchildren and our grandchildren’s children. Something has to change. We cannot continue to throw money out without looking into the why and what for. The Government free spending has gotten insane. Since Democratic Presidents have expressed the same desires in the past, without results, this begs the question, is the DOGE finding things that someone wants to remain hidden? We have all had to tighten the belt over the past few years. Let the Government do the same for a bit.

Murkowski and Collins? That’s laughable. They’re about as much “Republican” as the Vichy were “French”!

About shutting down the Democrat crime syndicate. If it’s illegal or immoral they are involved in it. That’s why they are screaming so loudly as we’re trying to shut it down

An effective tool for managing some forest and farmlands is the “controlled burn.” That should be the practice with the DOGE. Don’t destroy just because it feels good.

Of course DOGE is opening the can of worms and shinning the light on all the corruption, waste and the like….and rightly so by virtue of it’s mandate. But, I hope it’s not a case of burning down the forest to get rid of some weeds. The massive problem of govt. spending gone amuck is so huge, however, you can rest assured there will be some hurt caused along the way….we call it collateral damage and it’s unavoidable with the scale of this current government spending. It’s HUGE! Numbers most of us can hardly comprehend, millions, billions, trillions…..say what!? It is hoped that DOGE is not into slash and burn, but precision, clarity, and careful considerations that include keeping the best while culling out the worst. Not an easy task at any level. I trouble over the matter that our congress and others in govt. are playing games even now and will manipulate the whole process in the end. Trump is doing the necessary task that means disruption and change, and most of the present residents in government don’t like either outcome. So, keep on upsetting their homeostatic balance…..it is working.

There is no government efficiency.
*It should have been labeled: Dept. of govt. inefficiency ?
*Or, how much more can taxpayers take it for the team?
*Or, let’s keep padding our overpaid, feckless positions we have by continuing to lie
to the gullible Americans.

Public companies rationalize workforce when business changes require it. Efficiency was spotlighted in efforts such as Kaizen a few decades back. In each kaizen event major upheaval occurs in the quest to make the business efficient. Properly run these events are eye opening in the “out of the box” solutions that yielded major savings and boost to business. Usually there was a company effort to offer alternative jobs for those displaced. That worked well when real savings resulted in real business gains! In any case no employee was permitted to derail the company effort. Where unions dug in the business usually moved. The FED needs a permanent DOGE and when the deficit is controlled the DOGE effort should shift to process improvement!
