100 days after President Donald Trump declared a crime emergency in Washington, D.C., and deployed National Guard troops in the city, the nation’s capital is safer than at any time in recent memory. Violent crime and property crime have plummeted, with longtime residents saying they feel safer in their city than ever before.
U.S. Marshals Director Gadyaces Serralta has helped lead the administration’s crime crackdown. “I think this operation is a continued success,” Serralta told local reporter Nick Minock. “6,127 arrests. 600 guns, illegal guns taken from folks who shouldn’t have guns.” Serralta also relayed that “murders are down 60% compared to the same time last year, robberies are down 50%, carjackings are down a whopping 70%.”
Serralta credited President Trump with having the vision and determination to make the capital city safe for residents and tourists alike. “He made the United States Marshals Service the lead agency in coordinating. However, the work is done by all 31 agencies to include the Metropolitan Police Department,” Serralta said. “So, the secret there is unhandcuffing the law enforcement officers and let them do their work. Let them enforce the laws that are on the books.”
Jeanine Pirro, who currently serves as the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, also praised Trump for significantly reducing crime in the nation’s capital. “It’s a model for the nation. It’s a blueprint. It’s a petri dish,” Pirro told Fox News late last month. “When the President said he was going to make D.C. safe and beautiful, he meant it, and the results speak for themselves.”
Minock also revealed in his report that the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is dealing with a shortage of law enforcement officers – making the administration’s success all the more remarkable. The D.C. Police Union told him that MPD is short 820 officers as a result of the continuing fallout from the “Defund the Police” movement. Earlier this year, MPD reached its lowest staffing level in 50 years.
Even some D.C. Democrats have begrudgingly acknowledged the success of Trump’s crime crackdown. In September, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser issued an order requiring local police to cooperate with federal authorities “to the maximum extent allowable by law within the District.” The White House had previously seized control of MPD, but that authority expired after 30 days. Bowser also said that “we greatly appreciate the surge of officers that enhance what MPD has been able to do in this city.”
Moving forward, Serralta said that judges, prosecutors, and defense attorneys need to match Trump’s commitment to public safety and stop releasing violent and repeat offenders. While MPD is arresting lawbreakers, they are often back out on the street in a matter of days or even hours – an epidemic in blue cities throughout the United States. D.C. law also allows individuals up to 24 years old to be charged as juveniles rather than adults.
“They’re still walking free until we pass these policies,” Serralta said. “They’re going to continue with no cash bail. I mean, these are serious issues we need to do something about.”
More work remains to be done. But President Trump has now provided proof of concept that the solution to big city crime isn’t “restorative justice,” replacing cops with “intervention specialists,” or any other ridiculous left-wing scheme – it’s simply enforcing the law and making sure that would-be wrongdoers know that there will be consequences for their crimes.

They support criminals and hate the victims. The world let out a sigh of relief this was done. He bombed the Houthis, they say, that was not a war either. President Trump destroyed drug boats bound for America full of drugs, also that was not a war. The dems are pro Hamas, Houthis, ISIS, MS 13 and Venezuelan gangs. They support them and kill the law enforcements agents that do their job. And all this because they hate Trump. They don’t care about the country or those doing their job. Like DC is 850 police officers short because of the dems defund the police policy. They want us all to live in Utopia where democrats will tell you where to live how to live and whom to hate and kill. The democrats show their true colors more every day. Overthrow Trump and make America a globalist country run by the WEF billionaires. Think how illegal that is. Please don’t obey the democrats their plan is to overthrow the government to their evil. Trump is trying to keep the U S A what it has always been.

Every country has it’s beauty, and people who love their own homeland, have their right to protect it.
There are colorful landscapes and waterfalls just as spectacular in ALL countries.
Something is wrong with what is happening to our America.
It works and reduces crime. Therefore the Democrats are against it! The only thing the Democrats are for is crime, waste fraud and abuse. If it’s illegal or democrats are doing it if it was a bad decision the Democrats made it. I see so many American citizen negative comments about the importance of the National Guard. Apparently they never understood the fact that the Guard’s job is to protect our homeland and its citizens.
What happened to all of the homeless in DC? Have not seen any articles about them & at the start Noem said that they had three choices & one of them is just go to jail.
And today the court ordered them out.
Okay just need a yes or no on this question, I am sort of a Griswold family & is it safe for us to do a 3-day vacation in DC if travel by car ? And assuming we will go to lots of sights & eat at restaurants in the evenings? Will we be okay or not?
Good but murders down 60% in a year is not great, I thought DC was the safest place in the world now so what kind of murders are happening? Is the National Guard still in DC & have never seen any news on what DC did with the homeless? And I thought Pirro was going to put the teenagers away forever. What is DC really like before and after and is this back to a normal city?
I am so proud to finally live in a country that has to deploy troops onto our streets to maintain what the upper classes have determined to be how this nation must function in service to its masters.
I grew up in south Texas and everyone used to laugh at the Mexican Government and their stationing of “Federales” to control their public. Fast forward to today and we find ourselves being what Mexico was and remains.
