A new InsiderAdvantage poll out this week shows President Donald Trump’s approval rating soaring following a productive summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin last week and more good news on the economic front.
According to the survey of 1,000 likely voters conducted from August 15-17, 54 percent approve of Trump’s job performance, while 43.6 percent disapprove. Trump’s +10 net positive approval rating is a significant increase from his +2 net approval rating in InsiderAdvantage’s previous poll in July.
Notably, the survey found that a majority of all voters under 65 approve of the job Trump is doing as president, while those over 65 disapprove by a 56.7 percent to 40.1 percent margin. 57.3 percent of respondents aged 18-39 and 56.5 percent of respondents aged 40-64 said they approve of Trump’s job performance.
In another positive sign for Trump and Republicans generally, 47.2 percent of Hispanic respondents and 23.7 percent of Black respondents approved of the President’s job performance. Trump won about 48 percent of the Hispanic vote and 15 percent of the Black vote in 2024 – indicating that he is holding steady with Hispanics and gaining even more ground with Blacks.
InsiderAdvantage pollster Matt Towery explained that the president’s approval continues to trend upward.
“He has improved his numbers among African-Americans and Hispanic-Latinos,” Towery said. “White voters are at a near record 64 percent. Voters under 65 years of age now approve of his job performance by wide margins. Only the nation’s oldest voters disapprove of his job performance, which is consistent with our prior surveys.”
As AMAC Newsline has previously reported, Trump’s flagging performance with seniors is a persistent problem amid widespread left-wing fearmongering on issues such as Social Security and Medicare. Many older Americans incorrectly believe that provisions in the One Big Beautiful Bill which kick illegal aliens off Medicaid and institute modest work requirements for welfare will negatively impact seniors. In reality, those changes are specifically designed to preserve benefits for the American citizens who need them most.
InsiderAdvantage was one of the most accurate pollsters of the 2024 presidential election. The group’s last polling data for Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona, Georgia, and North Carolina showing Trump winning was accurate, while other pollsters had Trump losing several of these states.
Trump currently has a 44.4 percent approval rating according to the RealClearPolitics (RCP) average, which aggregates results from many polls nationwide. While this week’s InsiderAdvantage results are a clear outlier, they may be a sign of things to come for Trump, as the polling agency surveyed voters following Trump’s summit with Putin in Alaska.
“I’ve settled 6 Wars in 6 months, one of them a possible Nuclear disaster, and yet I have to read & listen to the Wall Street Journal, and many other who truly don’t have a clue, tell me everything that I am doing wrong on the Russia/Ukraine MESS, that is Sleepy Joe Biden’s war, not mine,” Trump said in a Truth Social post on Monday. “I’m only here to stop it, not to prosecute it any further. It would have NEVER happened if I was President.”
Even before the summit, Trump was already faring better in the polls than his two most recent predecessors in their second terms. On August 11, Trump’s RCP average approval rating was 45.9 percent. On that same date in his second term, Barack Obama’s RCP average was 43.9 percent, while George W. Bush clocked in at 43.5 percent.
Biden fared somewhat better on August 11, 2021, with a net-positive 50.1 percent to 45.6 percent rating in the RCP average. But just a few weeks later, following the botched Afghanistan withdrawal, his approval rating began to crater and never recovered. As inflation gripped the nation, he finally bottomed out at 37 percent in June 2022. When he left office earlier this year, his approval rating stood at just 39 percent.

Trump is the best American president in my 81 years and it was tough to beat out Reagan for that vote. Reagan was a far better orator but Trump has the policies and determination to fight the swamp for the American people more than any president in my lifetime for sure. Really can’t understand why seniors turn away from President Trump. He has been fighting for Soc Sec and Medicare, no tax on Soc Sec etc etc. He is cutting the waste abuse and fraud out of Medicaid and Medicare to allow benefits to continue to those who are in need. In my opinion, Donald J. Trump is the greatest President in my life time. This past election was my 16 Presidential election.
Innovation can be expected to rise with more challenges to meet.
Critics love to argue that tariffs will dampen innovation. Is that how innovation works in the United States today? Does anyone expect Ford, GE, or Tesla to stop building world-changing products just because there are tariffs on imported goods? Hardly. These companies innovate because of domestic dynamism, competition, intellectual property protection, market demand and access to capital—not because of open borders for imported washing machines or steel. They used to call it “Yankee Ingenuity” referred to earlier. It’s still there, if stifled by an economic system drained of manufacturing challenges, swollen with bureaucratic, tax and cost disincentives. There have been no challenges for the creative mind to innovate.
President Trump is no doubt a master in negotiations on a variety of subjects. Import-export tariffs are a critical item we discussed. Negotiating peace between warring nations is quite another.
It completely baffles me how 57% of the over 65s could disapprove of President Trump (I am almost 80). What matters to retirees? Personal safety, low inflation, protection of social security, law and order, taxes, healthcare, honoring our military and those who served, and a civil society. These are all things that the Trump Administration is working to achieve. These are all Dems have either openly sought to work against these needs (e.g. releasing criminals and allowing open borders) or professed to be in favor of them but did nothing or worked secretly to undermine progress (e.g. “Inflation Reduction Act” or allowing fraud to continue in social security or welfare programs). I can only assume it might be too many drugs in the 60s and 70s. Wake up!

I am a senior over 70. I don’t answer unknown phone calls. They seldom leave a message so I delete them. I can’t imagine the amount of other folks in my position. We are the silent majority.
I can’t understand how anyone over 65 could disapprove of Trump. He has kept his campaign promises, has reduced taxation on Social Security and income, is following both constitution and law in his revamping our overextended and corrupt government. The man has ended 6 wars 1 between nuclear countries and stopped Iran in its tracks from gaining nuclear status. Most important he has raised the government’s income and should be able to reduce debt.
The reason nearly half of our country hates Trump is because he is “Making America Great Again”. These radical liberals were on the track to making our country a weak Communist hell-hole. They did a bang-up job of it. They hate anyone who wants law and order and a president who actually upholds the Constitution. Those among us who understand what has been going on for the last 12 years knows this and prays that those evil liberals do not get control of DC again for a very long time.

I have friends who hate Trump. When I ask them why, they don’t have a solid answer. I told them to stop watching media like CNN and do fact checking on their own. I also sent them article on what Trump has done and there respond is I didn’t know that. I told them to start thinking for themselves and stop being lazy ! A couple of them have changed their minds.
First of all, I would like to say that you can count me as one of President Trump‘s most ardent supporters. I do not fall into the senior citizen category of people who listen to the lame stream media. I am well informed and trust and believe that he has our best interests in mind and that Social Security is not being threatened by his actions. I am also a Hispanic American born and raised in this country, and I fully support everything that he has done to close our borders and deport all illegalaliens back to their country of origin. Praise the Lord for that! In closing I would like to say that in my opinion, President Trump is doing a phenomenal job reversing the horrendous decisions made by the prior administration. Instituting tariffs is one of the best things he could have done to fill our coffers and simply require other countries that have long taken advantage of our generosity to kick in their fair share if they want to do business in America. Donald J Trump is a fair person, and if other countries will work with us, he will work with them. He has proven that time and time again and he will continue to do all that he can to make America great again. Thank you AMAC for being here for the senior citizens of America. I’m one of the older voters I would say–10 yrs into retirement, and I definitely approve of what Pres. Trump has been doing. I find it hard to believe that Baby Boomers would be disapproving of all the great things DJT has accomplished. He is working tirelessly for the American people. He is amazing with his work ethic! He is the best President in my lifetime! Of course, I don’t waste my time watching the lying, legacy media. I get my info from better sources than the propaganda media.
My wife and I are in our middle eighties and totally approve of what President Trump is doing in his attempt to save AMERICA from her enemies within maybe more than without.

We approve 100%. We voted for him in 2016, 2020 and 2024. My opinion is they all must be senile. LOL

About 40 years ago when I was a 20 something yo, a similarly aged friend told me that he didn’t automatically respect his elders because many of them just kept repeating the same mistakes over and over, decade after decade. Seems like that may be the case with many of today’s seniors!

I approve of Trump and so do many of the older people especially in my area. What has happened is that a lot of the older people who have not approved of Trump has listened to the treasonic traitor lying democrats and their evil lying media about S.S., Medicare, and other benefits for the elderly. Telling them that Trump is hurting the Medicare benefits but what Trump has really done was to remove them that do not deserve to be on these plans such as illegals, people that are in good health and should be working. During this process I believe that some that are legally on Medicare might suffer some setbacks but most of that will come from local offices run by democrats and these people who are going through this need to make sure that they get in touch with the people that are on the right side to get things straightened out. First thing, who can trust any poll at this point? Trump has done a great job but we must give time for the democratic mess to be straightened out. The democrat have had control 12 years out if the last 16 years and most everything they did was criminal activity against America. After this 1st year of Trump things will start turning around. I think the disapproval rating with people over 65 is due to the fact that they only get their news from ABC NBC CBS and CNN who actually want Donald Trump to fail and misrepresent the facts of his presidency and his administration. I would say the majority of those under 65 get their News from online sources and more independent sources that are less biased to leftism and the lies of the Democrat party who basically controls the national media centers.
