Dear Representative Shreve,
On behalf of AMAC Action, the advocacy affiliate of the Association of Mature American Citizens (AMAC), with over 2 million members nationwide, we write to express our strong support for HR 5490, the Dismantle Foreign Scam Syndicates Act.
Foreign-based scam operations are increasingly targeting seniors, many of whom live on fixed incomes and have spent decades saving responsibly for retirement. These criminal enterprises exploit modern technology, weak international enforcement, and vulnerable populations to steal billions of dollars from hardworking Americans each year. For our members, this is a direct threat to their financial security and peace of mind.
We believe in limited government, strong rule of law, and protecting American citizens from foreign criminal actors. This legislation advances those principles by strengthening enforcement against overseas fraud rings, improving coordination among federal agencies, and ensuring that bad actors face meaningful consequences. Combating transnational crime is a core responsibility of the federal government, and this bill takes necessary steps to fulfill that duty.
Seniors should not have to fear that answering the phone or opening an email could jeopardize their life savings. Thank you for your leadership and your commitment to protecting our nation’s most vulnerable citizens.
Sincerely,
Andrew J. Mangione Jr.
