Advocacy in Washington DC
AMAC’s advocacy affiliate, AMAC Action, maintains a full-time presence in Washington, D.C., calling on members of Congress to provide guidance, discuss issues, and support or oppose legislative actions on behalf of our membership. AMAC Action also participates in D.C. conservative forums and other coalition activity and maintains a national grassroots organization comprised of hundreds of volunteer advocates.
Right now, we’re actively fighting against the dangerous legislation being pushed in the form of H.R.1 and H.R.127. AMAC Action provides an easy means for members to express their opposition directly to their elected representatives, and collectively, as AMAC members.
H.R.1, the deceptively named, “For the People Act”, is a partisan, federal takeover of the election process and would weaken the security of future elections. It undermines states’ election oversight, prohibits voter I.D., virtually eliminates any restrictions on vote-by-mail, permits ballot trafficking, and assaults our First Amendment right to free political speech. It strips power from the states and gives it to the federal government.
The House of Representatives already passed this atrocious bill and now the Senate is our last hope to legislatively stop it. Liberal politicians are calling it a “signature piece of legislation.”
H.R.127, H.R.8, and H.R.1446 represent an all-out assault on our Constitutionally-secured right to keep and bear arms under the veil of “common-sense” reform. Make no mistake, the ultimate goal of the left is to take away our guns and these bills are among the most aggressive and comprehensive attacks on the 2nd Amendment in our nation’s history. They would restrict the rights of law-abiding citizens, turning our 2nd Amendment right into a privilege, while doing nothing to prevent criminals from conducting business as usual.
Among many things, H.R.127 would establish a national gun registry requiring you to supply the government with, “the make, model, and serial number of the firearm, the identity of the owner of the firearm, the date the firearm was acquired by the owner, and where the firearm is or will be stored”, and all of that information would be made available for the world (including criminals) to see in a publicly-searchable database. H.R.127 also requires that you petition the Attorney General to obtain (and renew) a license just to exercise your 2nd Amendment right. It requires that you purchase government-mandated insurance at a cost of $800.00 annually. It discriminates against lower-income people by making gun ownership unaffordable. It imposes a ban on the most commonly owned firearms, ammunition, and magazines based primarily on appearance alone. It imposes mandatory minimum prison sentences and fines for “violations” (for exercising our 2nd Amendment right). And the list goes on and on.
Folks, it’s not enough for us to merely hold the line. We must push back against these outrageous pieces of legislation, and we must push back against the politicians trying to replace rights that are endowed by our Creator with a new system of rights “granted” by government.
This is why we need you to join AMAC today!
AMAC does more than just talk. We offer solutions to the problems America is facing today. We are constantly reviewing legislative proposals and if they align with constitutional principles and our mission, we offer our support. If they don’t, we offer our opposition. Over the past several years, AMAC has organized and attended nearly one thousand in-person meetings with congressional leaders, Senators, House members, state representatives, and others who directly impact the future of our country.
While other liberal organizations were lobbying hard for the passage of the Affordable Care Act, we and our members stood firmly against it. We will stand against the new, ultra-liberal wave of socialized healthcare – “Medicare for All” – that is surely to be proposed soon.
Stand with our national non-partisan, issues-oriented advocacy group that represents the concerns of AMAC members, supports sensible legislation and speaks for what matters – our rights as guaranteed by the Constitution, for tradition and moral compass, fiscal responsibility, federal solvency, and accountability in government by joining AMAC today.
