Why it matters
Millions of Americans are caring for aging parents, spouses, and loved ones at home, helping them age with dignity and age in place rather than enter costly institutional care. Yet family caregivers often spend thousands of dollars out of their own pockets on transportation, home modifications, respite care, and other essential services.
The bipartisan Credit for Caring Act (H.R. 2036 / S. 925) would provide eligible working family caregivers with a federal tax credit of up to $5,000 to help offset these caregiving expenses.
This is a commonsense, pro-family solution that supports personal responsibility, strengthens families, and helps seniors remain independent in their homes and communities. By empowering family caregivers, Congress can help reduce reliance on expensive government-funded long-term care while honoring the wishes of millions of older Americans.
Tell your Representative and Senators to cosponsor and prioritize passage of the Credit for Caring Act (H.R. 2036 / S. 925).
America's caregivers deserve meaningful tax relief, and America's seniors deserve the opportunity to age with dignity in the place they call home.
