AMAC Action Support Statement for PBM Reforms in Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2026
AMAC Action is urging Congress to advance meaningful pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) reforms included in the House-passed Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2026. PBM practices have driven up prescription drug costs for seniors while squeezing independent pharmacies. These commonsense reforms would reduce drug prices, restore transparency, and strengthen oversight of Medicare Part D.

AMAC Action Applauds Bipartisan Passage of Disabled Veterans Housing Support Act
Congress took a decisive step to support disabled veterans by passing the Disabled Veterans Housing Support Act (H.R. 224), a bipartisan measure backed by veteran advocates, supported by AMAC Action, and signed into law by President Trump on January 20th. The legislation removes a long-standing bureaucratic hurdle that unfairly limited veterans’ access to housing assistance by counting disability compensation as income. By restoring fairness to federal housing programs, lawmakers sent a clear message that benefits earned through military service should never work against those who sacrificed for our country.

AMAC Action Stands with Parents in Major Supreme Court Case
In a pivotal legal battle over parental authority and educational transparency, AMAC Action has joined a coalition urging the U.S. Supreme Court to intervene in Mirabelli v. Bonta, a case challenging school policies that keep parents uninformed about their children’s “social gender transitions.” Joining the filing of this amicus brief underscores AMAC Action’s commitment to defending fundamental parental rights and ensuring that public institutions respect the family’s role in guiding their children’s upbringing and well-being.

H.R. 7156 – Stop Citizenship Abuse and Misrepresentation (SCAM) Act
The naturalization process is built on good faith, on the understanding that applicants are truthful, law-abiding, and committed to the values and security of the United States. When that process is abused, public trust erodes, and the integrity of the immigration system is weakened. By providing clear statutory authority to address abuses, this bill strengthens national security, protects American taxpayers, and reinforces the principle that citizenship cannot be obtained or retained through deception. It also promotes accountability and ensures that consequences are tied to proven misconduct, not lawful immigration or peaceful participation in American society. Term of the Week: Seventeenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution
Ratified in 1913, the Seventeenth Amendment changed the U.S. Constitution to require the direct election of senators by the people rather than their selection by state legislatures. This reform modified Article I, Section 3 of the Constitution and emerged from the Progressive Era’s push for democratic political reforms, driven by concerns about corruption, political gridlock, and inefficiency in the legislative appointment process.. The amendment also gave state governors the authority to temporarily fill Senate vacancies until a special election could be held, further modernizing how senators are chosen.
The 17th Amendment reads:
“The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two Senators from each State, elected by the people thereof, for six years; and each Senator shall have one vote. The electors in each State shall have the qualifications requisite for electors of the most numerous branch of the State legislatures.
When vacancies happen in the representation of any State in the Senate, the executive authority of such State shall issue writs of election to fill such vacancies: Provided, That the legislature of any State may empower the executive thereof to make temporary appointments until the people fill the vacancies by election as the legislature may direct.
This amendment shall not be so construed as to affect the election or term of any Senator chosen before it becomes valid as part of the Constitution.”

Quote of the Week
“I place a profound belief—indeed a fervent faith—in the virtues of self-reliance and personal independence. On these is founded the whole case for the free society, for the assertion that human progress is best achieved by offering the freest possible scope for the development of individual talents, qualified only by a respect for the qualities and the freedom of others…For many years, there has been a subtle erosion of the essential virtues of the free society. Self-reliance has been sneered at as if it were an absurd suburban pretention. Thrift has been denigrated as if it were greed. The desire of parents to choose and to struggle for what they themselves regarded as the best possible education for their children has been scorned.”
