The stock market will rise and fall. It will also fall and rise.
The sun will always rise, always in the east, always set, always in the west.
Political actors will quarrel, some with dignity, others spite and zest.
Odds are better than a Chinese cookie that we see an earthquake.
We will experience several hurricanes, some hyped, some fake.
Somewhere it will flood, if on a mountain side, mud will slide.
Prepare for another climate apocalypse, fresh calamities, inanities.
Illegal aliens will be deported, news distorted, laws condemned,
Future laureates in physics and literature lamented, a blend.
Democrats will rail against insider trading, corruption, one more tax,
While pushing dirty, sole-source contracts, kickbacks for old hacks.
In the whirlwind of Medicaid fraud, money stolen fast as suction,
Blue states will get wise, make TDS an Obamacare deduction.
With the Mideast quiet, non-nuclear Iran now bark, no bite,
Mainstream outlets will credit Biden with uncanny foresight.
Russia and Ukraine will not become allies, though hopes soar,
But they will hate each other less than they hate this war.
Political violence will not disappear with Marxist malcontents,
Yet more Americans will resist it, if only in self-defense.
Water will continue to miraculously freeze at 32 degrees,
Boil at 212 Fahrenheit, as if God were there to put it right.
New Years resolutions will make a sudden comeback,
Fast on the near stretch, slow on the curves, then backtrack.
Some sad boys will continue to assert they are girls,
Put on makeup, dresses, hair in curls, maybe pearls,
While the US Supreme Court takes up their condition,
Genetics, biology, and Bible against a polished fiction.
When all is said and done, this will be a year of hope,
More hope than fear, more courage than other years.
Why, you may ask, as terror and turbulence persist?
Because a comeback of common sense tops the list.

RBC,
Hopefully, common sense will return to Maine with you at the helm steering the ship.
RBC, fun article for the end of the year. All quite true.
Happy New Year!
Please Lord, return common sense to America.
Good poetry rhyming, but these are not predictions, they are reality.
Common sense…….the one quality most democrats seem to lack.
Fun read, Mr. Charles, and my pearls are secure in my jewelry chest.
Happy New Year Best wishes for all
SAME OLD, SAME OLD. GOT TO KEEP THE FAITH IN GOD UP ABOVE TO RESOLVE AND KEEP AMERICA ON A STRAIGHT COURSE.
