Ukraine has agreed to the “core terms” of a peace deal to end its nearly four-year war with Russia, reports say.

“Over the past week, the United States has made tremendous progress towards a peace deal by bringing both Ukraine and Russia to the table,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt wrote on X. “There are a few delicate, but not insurmountable, details that must be sorted out and will require further talks between Ukraine, Russia, and the United States.”

Russian negotiators met with U.S. officials, including Army Secretary Dan Driscoll, in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday morning to finalize the deal. Driscoll presented the peace framework that the U.S. and Ukraine negotiated on Sunday, Politico reported.

Over the weekend, U.S. officials met with Ukrainians in Geneva, Switzerland, to discuss the peace proposal.

Ukrainian national security official Rustem Umerov wrote on X Tuesday morning that Ukraine had reached an understanding on the “core terms” of the U.S. peace plan during the discussions in Geneva.

“We appreciate the productive and constructive meetings held in Geneva between the Ukrainian and U.S. delegations, as well as President Trump’s steadfast efforts to end the war,” Umerov said. “Our delegations reached a common understanding on the core terms of the agreement discussed in Geneva. We now count on the support of our European partners in our further steps.”

Umerov said Zelenskyy will visit the U.S. “at the earliest suitable date” in order “to complete final steps and make a deal with President Trump.”

A bittersweet resolution, but probably the best that can be done.

As Ronaldus Magnus said, “Trust but verify!” Putin may temporarily stop moving west but if/when a DIMM gets in, he’ll go further west and north!

I am happy to learn of the possibility of peace. Look at all the innocent lives lost on both sides of the conflict, including military and civilian personnel. The Biden administration should have never advocated this war. The United States could have used the money spent on this war on domestic programs on job training, energy development, police force retention, and many other worthwhile things the American people needed.

I sit here in complete awe at the so called intelligence of the politicians and supposed leaders.

Putin is playing every country and politician like I play a big ole big mouth bass.

Putin is a double barrel liar and scum bag, he is lying about any kind of cease fire, bombing, assassinations etc.

Look who he has been hunkering up to. Other liars , scum bags, assassins, that do the two face tango any time they start talking.

It is past time for the EU leaders to get ready for another confrontation probably in the future as soon a Putin recovers his finances and someone to supply his weapons etc.

Was not Crimean war between Russia and Ottoman, that area was a hot spot for long time, WWI Austria wanting the access to the Black Sea, Under Stalin all came to rest, no question about what is what.He ruled with the iron fist and heel . Our “dems” would love to be able to do that.

At least Trump is there, trying to make things better, what if he wasn’t there, like how it started all along?
May God have mercy on all of it, and thankful we ARE a nation UNDER God, during our Thanksgiving with everything our country STOOD for.

From the very first, when Russia invaded Ukraine, our leader at the time, started throwing money at this invaded country. This was the determinate time that I knew Biden was “slow”, not a doctor, but the signs were there if you were not blind. So now, the money is lost and this precious country is in the crosshairs of a brutal and uncaring communist leader.

I think the US has done enough, albeit not effective. Now Europe must step up, and maybe they have, note, with Trump in charge they know they must.IMO

I know President Trump hates War and so do almost every Patriotic American. Putin has been a megalomaniac since he was Head of the East German KGB. His goal since the Wall came down and the Soviet Union ended their communist government and freed all East European occupied countries, was the return to the old USSR with him as the Head of the new. He is Hitler reincarnated who had a similar experience with the defeat and destruction of the Old Germany in wwI and his vision to gain it all back and more. Appeasement, as British Secretary Neville Chamberlain proclaimed “Peace in our time” didn’t materialize then and it won’t now with Putin. He must face severe consequences for his ill planned takeover of Ukraine and if the peace plan is perceived as appeasement he will find any excuse to continue his reign of terror until he is stopped with superior power by force. The Soviet people will be thankful if that happens.

So after we spent billions on the debacle, when the peace actually place, I suppose the little tyrant Zelensky will get the U.S. to pay for rebuilding. He is a poor example of a leader. He is a Communist and I have read more than one article that says he has been trying to get rid of Christians. How long has it been since Ukraine had a real election? I feel sorry for the innocent Ukrainians who have to live under his thumb.

Putin is the one that started this war and not Ukraine. So why should Russia get anything out of this & is Trump plan going to let Russia keep some of the minerals in Ukraine?

Glad this war is over, but who is going to provide security to Ukraine so that this does not happen again. And is the return of +2000 children part of plan? I do not like any plan that will prevent Ukraine from ever being part of NATO. Just think of why a couple of neighbor countries joined NATO the last couple of years & that will make you realize why it is so important.

Is Ukraine really going to sign over the Donbas region and the two largest steel mills? That is a disaster for the rest of the world. It is where we get heavy steel for aircraft carriers and large ships. This is wrong. Give back Alaska America.
