AMAC Applauds House Passage of SAVE Act

The Association of Mature American Citizens applauds the House of Representatives for passing the Safeguarding American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, a critical measure to safeguard U.S. elections and prevent noncitizens from voting.

The bill passed on Thursday 220-208, with four Democrats joining Republicans to vote in favor of the bill. In a deeply divided Congress, the victory was a rare instance of bipartisan cooperation and a sign that common-sense election integrity measures can garner support on both sides of the aisle.

AMAC Action has been a leading advocate for the SAVE Act since it was first introduced last year, with AMAC members making their voices heard in support of this important legislation. In recognition of thousands of AMAC members urging their members of Congress to vote yes on this bill last year, House Speaker Mike Johnson personally thanked them for their advocacy efforts.

This year, Speaker Johnson again called on the grassroots to activate, and AMAC members once again rose to the occasion by sending nearly 7,000 messages to Congress in support of the SAVE Act.

The SAVE Act institutes several crucial election integrity measures, including amending the National Voter Registration Act to require states to obtain documentary proof of U.S. citizenship and identity – in person – when registering an individual to vote in a federal election. The bill would also require states to take action to remove non-citizens from their existing voter rolls and empower citizens to bring civil suits against election officials who fail to uphold proof of citizenship requirements for federal elections.

AMAC Action Senior Vice President Andy Mangione called passage of the SAVE Act “a vitally important step to protect the sanctity of the ballot box and another common-sense win for Speaker Johnson.”

“The SAVE Act is the most robust legislative effort to date to ensure that only eligible citizens can vote in federal elections,” Mangione added. “AMAC members have demanded Congress take action on this issue, and Washington is responding. AMAC Action looks forward to forging more bipartisan cooperation in the Senate to get this bill to President Trump’s desk for signature as soon as possible.”

“Only American citizens should vote in American elections. The SAVE Act will ensure this commonsense law is followed by requiring proof of citizenship for all new voter registrations,” Speaker Mike Johnson said following passage of the bill. “While 208 Democrats demonstrated that they believe non-American citizens should vote in federal elections, House Republicans stood united with the millions of legal American voters who want their voices heard – and protected – at the ballot box.”

As AMAC Newsline has previously reported, noncitizen voting remains a significant threat to election integrity and the legitimacy of American democracy. Although federal law already prohibits non-citizens from voting in federal elections, there are effectively no legal mechanisms in place to enforce these restrictions.

In addition to requiring no form of ID to register to vote, 14 states don’t require a photo ID to actually cast a ballot. 28 states, including Michigan, Georgia, and North Carolina, allow voters to use a student ID – which does not distinguish between citizens and non-citizens. At least 19 other states and Washington, D.C. have also passed bills allowing non-citizens to obtain driver’s licenses. D.C., along with several other cities, also allows noncitizens to vote in local elections, creating more opportunity for ineligible voters to cast ballots in federal elections.

The SAVE Act now moves to the Senate, where it will likely need 60 votes to overcome the chamber’s filibuster rule. While some Senate Democrats have already signaled their opposition to the bill, Republicans would only need seven Democrats to cross the aisle to pass it.

Getting ready to call the DC offices of those 4 Dems that voted to pass this. Suggest you do the same. To save you time, here are the 4 House members who voted yes.
Golden (ME), Cuellar (TX), Case (HI) and Marie Gluesenkamp-Perez (WA).
Conservatives need to start THANKING Dems who are willing to actually earn their 174K/year plus massive benefits salary!! Can’t possibly hurt. ALL AMERICANS pay their salaries, regardless of who elects them!

I support the SAVE Act. We have to insure 100% there is absolutely no Voter Fraud. I feel there has been nefarious dealings going on by Activists on the far Left Democrats Deep State entirely too long. I pray President Trump and his Adminstration sets into Law where Voter Fraud will no longer be found nor achieved. I shutter to think what might have transpired had Democrats won the election. May all Americans unite under President Trump having clearly and overwhelmingly re-elected him and rid ourselves of all who wish to divide, while desiring our harm!

Any representative who refuses to do his duty and put the personal interest before that of the country should be removed for refusing to do the job, just as any other employee would, they are payed by taxpayers. Private sector would not tolerate theft or fraud, why is it OK in public sector? Many make a career of it.

It is PRETTY SAD that Congress sworn to uphold and defend the Constitution will NOT get together and “codify” what the 14th Amendment already has MADE LAW. It dictates that only male CITIZENS of AGE (then 21, now 18, and adding women by further amendments) are ELIGIBLE to vote for “electors for President and VP”, “Representatives in Congress (including Senators per amendment)”, “The Executive and Judicial officers of a State”, “members of the Legislature of a State”; therefore, not only are Federal elections ONLY for citizens, but State level elections are ALSO ONLY for citizens. The 14th goes further and includes a penalty for eligible citizen voters’ votes being “ABRIDGED IN ANY WAY”, which includes being offset by an illegal vote, where the proportion of denied eligible votes to the total proportion of eligible votes will REDUCE the Representatives for that State by that ratio (any portion of one, would be one: .5=lose one, 1.5=lose 2, etc.) It is clear that IF this were actually “carried” out several Blue States would lose Representatives. The SAVE Act is a good start but still leaves out much of the actual law in the 14th Amendment.

I amazed that four Democrats had the integrity to vote yes. Everything about the Democratic Party is anti-God, demonic, despicable, and destructive to decency, posperity, and mankind in general.

Normally, I am an optimist. However, I’ll bet the house this bill doesn’t pass in the Senate where the anti-American Communist Left owns the Democrat Party. I pray I’ll be surprised!

How is a vote of 220-208, with only four Democrats supporting the bill, even remotely considered to be bipartisan?

This is good news. However, Like any law, it is only as good as how it is enforced. We know that there will be blue states who try to ignore this law.
