Left-Wing Lawfare Goes Global

Left-wing lawfare has gone global. Following the campaign to slander, impoverish, and imprison President Donald Trump last year, conservative leaders throughout the Western world are facing a shocking crusade of liberal judicial activism that threatens to stifle democracy.

The latest outrageous miscarriage of justice came in France, where a court on Monday ruled that Marine Le Pen, the leader of the conservative National Rally, had misused European Union funds. Le Pen received a four-year prison sentence, half of which was suspended. Judges said she could serve the remaining two years on house arrest.

More importantly, Le Pen is barred from seeking public office for the next five years – meaning that she won’t be eligible for France’s 2027 presidential election. After Le Pen came in second in the last two contests to incumbent Emmanuel Macron (who is now term limited), a March 29 poll showed her as the clear front-runner in the race, with 37 percent support.

The trial itself reeked of political corruption and was rife with procedural shortcuts. Thanks to a bit of bureaucratic maneuvering, the case was adjudicated entirely by judges, denying Le Pen the basic right to face a jury of her peers.

Prime Minister François Bayrou of the opposing European Democratic Movement was reportedly “troubled” by the verdict, while France’s current justice minister, Gérald Darmanin, said last November that it would be “deeply shocking” if Le Pen were barred from running in 2027. Le Pen must be defeated “at the ballot box, not elsewhere,” the Macron ally said.

The timing of the conviction couldn’t be more convenient for liberals and the European Union establishment as right-wing populist movements continue to surge in France, Germany, Italy, and elsewhere. With French liberals facing a reckoning over their failed policies, unelected judges have now effectively denied French voters the chance to choose their next president.

All of this will no doubt sound familiar to American readers who just witnessed a left-wing effort to pull off a similar stunt against Trump in the United States. Just as Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg invented a ridiculous “novel legal theory” to turn misdemeanor charges into felony charges, the French court slapped absurdly high penalties on Le Pen for what are known in French law as “délit,” or “lesser” crimes.

But France is hardly the only nation where the left has weaponized the judiciary to undermine democracy.

Across the continent in Romania, the country’s liberal-controlled constitutional court has been on a rampage, ginning up one absurd ruling after another to keep conservatives out of power. Last December, citing “Russian interference” (sound familiar?) the court canceled an entire presidential election just two days before the final round of voting.

Up until that moment, the court had insisted that the elections would proceed. But after conservative candidate Cǎlin Georgescu emerged as the favorite after the first round of voting, the judges suddenly reversed course, tossing the country into chaos. The court has now booted both Georgescu and fellow right-wing contender Diana Şoşoacǎ from the ballot for May’s rescheduled election.

In Brazil, populist conservative Jair Bolsonaro is already barred from running for office again until 2030 thanks to a 2023 court ruling stemming from Bolsonaro’s criticism of the country’s electronic voting machines. In yet another striking similarity to the American left’s targeting of Trump over his concerns about election integrity, the Brazilian left has effectively disenfranchised Bolsonaro’s voters for demanding greater transparency and accountability in election infrastructure.

But even ending the 68-year-old Bolsonaro’s political career has apparently not been enough for the left-wing government of Lula da Silva, which now has just a 24 percent approval rating. In February, Brazil’s top prosecutor also charged Bolsonaro with plotting a coup. A conviction by the country’s liberal Supreme Court (7 of the 11 justices were appointed by left-wing leaders, including 4 by Lula himself) could land Bolsonaro in prison for supposedly leading a “criminal organization” aimed at overthrowing the government.

That case yet again echoes the American left’s claims that Trump incited an “insurrection” on January 6, 2021, forming the basis of Democrats’ second impeachment effort and multiple attempts to kick him off the ballot last year.

America has long been a beacon of democracy, inspiring nations to embrace free and fair elections. But that influence works both ways. The American left, in its relentless pursuit of power, has signaled to the world that it is acceptable to weaponize the courts against the political opponents of those in power.

That message has been received – and imitated – by liberal elites abroad, who now see judicial activism as a shortcut to dismantling democracy under the guise of “justice.” By barring opposition leaders from elections through dubious legal maneuvers, the left isn’t just attacking individual candidates; it’s undermining the very foundation of representative government.

When political battles are no longer fought at the ballot box but in courtrooms controlled by unelected judges, the people lose their voice. If America continues down this path, it will no longer be a model for republican self-government, but a cautionary tale of how easily it can be lost.

The author is a bit late to the party. Lawfare has been used in the same way it was used against President Trump already multiple times, in multiple countries around the world, over the last 5 or 6 years. France is merely the most recent example of lawfare being successfully applied to take the opposition candidate off the chess board completely. Thus ensuring the leftist government already in control doesn’t face the risk of loss of power and the people remain powerless to improve their circumstances.

The only difference between the United States and all the other countries is that the Supreme Courts in the other countries were already completely in the bag of the Left. Rule of law is completely dead in those countries. So the deck was completely stacked in the Left’s favor and those targeted had no path to appeals or a high court over-ruling hand-picked local judges selected by the ruling party for these show trials.

The American people need to realize how close we came to almost completely losing this country. We should never put ourselves in that situation ever again.

It’s as simple as this. If it’s Left-wing it’s CORRUPT. If it’s Left-wing it’s WRONG. If it’s Left-wing it’s based on LIES. If it’s a Left-wing policy it will HURT Americans and will FAIL MISERABLY (as ALL their Left-wing policies have for the last 70+ years). If it’s Left-wing it’s PURE EVIL.

All the more reasons to vote for proper people to our congress, and with term limits. The GOP has a razor thin control, and should be expanded. The Democratic left wing ideology will not stop.

The time has come where the Right has to stop being soft and playing nice. Years ago, action would have been taken against these corrupt manipulators of law around the world. They face no repercussion for their actions and only an idiot can’t see what’s being done. The smug attitude of “we are only using the law”, needs to be removed from their faces. The problem is that most younger people fall under the liberal side of the fence and most older people have “too much to lose”, to risk, or sacrifice anything. Did the Jews of WWII with they had acted instead of going quietly at the beginning? You’re damn right they did. Well, without someone, or something, taking action against this weaponization of the legal system, conservatives (that aren’t in prison) will be forever second guessing why they sat on their hands. The time of action is now, otherwise, it may be too late.

Of course, lawfare is global. Look at all the conservative leaders or candidates who are being “investigated” by their countries’ courts–France, Romania, Israel, etc. Soros’s arms are LONG and so are those of his Communist buddies!

Outrageous action! The immaturity of the Left is a obsessive, possessive tantrum! They want to get back their Control. We cannot let them do it.

You can’t get around the fact that leftists the world over are adept at using the courts to do what voters at the ballot box can’t accomplish. The extreme example: Ever notice how any rival to Putin winds up in prison or the morgue before the election? The lawfare against Trump before the election were laughable until you realized that prosecutors and judges were willing to pervert the intent of laws to achieve a desired result. New York DA Alvin Bragg turned old misdemeanor charges into a felony. NY State AG Leticia James decided that real estate developer Trump had lied about his valuations of his property even though the lending banks and insurers he was working with had no qualms about them and had their own stable of experts to do evaluations. Now the lib legal moguls are very concerned about defending legal rights of illegal alien TdA and MS-13 gang members we are booting out of the country in order to keep the president from fulfilling the promises he made to the people who voted for him. Foreigners who are here legally have some rights. But what rights to those who came here illegally have or what rights do they deserve other than transportation out of the country?

Now that some of the injustices that were done to Pres Trump the last 4 years and now have been exported around the world, will these nations charge a “TARIFF” against our Liberals for the exportation of these dangerous products?

The WEF plan is evolving from the trial policy they put in place in America. For 4 years they made Trump (45) into a Hitler, continued under Biden and almost got him convicted but then he was re-elected. They are still throwing money and the WEF orders at Trump to obstruct his policies from taking effect. Everything he is doing is brought before a judge that is favorable to the left in a district court and make the ruling count in every state. Since when has a district court judge in some obscure district has the say over the whole country. It is not because they are pro this or anti that. It is just to obstruct Trump so they get their power back. Terrorizing people who drive a Tesla because they don’t like Elon. What does that show?. They don’t care who they hurt as long as they can riot and protests and thereby halting all that Trump is doing to get America be a powerhouse in the world. No no not now not ever. And they have been successful here and now it is Europe’s turn. Australië is already in their corner with Brazil and Iran. We are fighting an organized capitalized group of oligarchs worse than Hitler, Stalin and Mao together. They are running the BIS and thereby the world. Don’t forget who created the WEF a man named Klaus Schwab and he has all the powerful politicians, kings and queens under his rule. Except for the conservatives. They have seen the plan. They appointed Tony Blair prime minister of England, Obama president of America. Rutte was prime minister of the Netherlands and now head of NATO also a protege of Schwab. Macron is another as well as Angela Merkel. The ones that are against are the ones now that are calling out the EU in Brussels for their destruction of Europe. By taking the savings from the people in Europe to create a war chest to fight Putin. A way to globalize the world and depopulate it at the same time. Only the European people are standing up against all these progressives who want to destroy the world for power, because they don’t care what they have to destroy on the way to get there.

Ever notice how the AMAC “watchdog” computer program goes awry when you use a word or phrase that it does not understand the context in which it was used. I just posted, a phrase “pu$$y-footing” and got one of those “awaiting approval” flags.. I guess I had better start filtering myself more closely. I think I will invent a new dictionary for those word and phrases the computer won’t recognize and red flag, so we can fool it into thinking everything is on the up and up…(oops, there I go again “up and up”) Better watch it…….

Denying this candidate’s rights in a grotesque display of tasteless bullying will not help her opposition… unless some of that bullying comes from an unscrupulous, liberal press that is as crooked as our “democrats”. In that case, it helps to have an opponent like Biden who is unimaginably corrupt and incompetent.

We (O’Biden/Blinken Inc.) put Lula in power in 2022 at Bolsonaro’s expense and now they are trying to lock Bolsonaro up or keep him from running again, using lawfare. Gosh, I wonder where Brazil learned that move. Then you have the recent events in Romania, Calin Georgescu told he lost after he won, to be followed by arrest, good old fashion American style lawfare at it’s best. And now of course Le Pen. Like Georgescu, Le Pen has the votes, the Left doesn’t – so they must be destroyed. And Germany is getting fed up with this crap. Take a lesson England and Ireland.I smell a worldwide revolution brewing against the worldwide Lefty Deep State. I hope it comes soon because I want in.

None of the articles I’ve read about this case have mentioned what specifically she’s accused of doing, or what, if any, evidence there is to support the conviction.

Hey Shane, this is old news, but thanks for reminding us. In my minds eye, it seems to be a right time to take off the gloves and fight dirty….do it with common sense and a smile, but dirty just the same. These leftists are like the islamic extreme…force is about the only thing that works on them. Ever try to deal with someone who is patently insane…only the straight jacket seems to help. World wide, leftists are gaining foot holds we never considered. No more “pussy-footing around” Am I off base?

Would you believe it is even in the Family Court here in NH interfering with my divorce and even affecting my appeals in the Supreme Court? None of my substantial evidence was viewed and considered and everything has been awarded to my ex husband. The court even ordered my home sold which happened so quickly that we have not had our last hearing about my contempt of court for not getting it sold with in this year when he abandoned me and all of his mess to clean up. I am 76 and these north state winters are a challenge.
This is my friend who has been helping me after I needed to fire my lawyer. He has had a similar experience in the courts. You will see why I posted this under your topic once you listen to his recordings. Thank you

Maybe the problem is that so many right wing politicians break the law. Mrs. Le Pen had misused European Union funds. The article nowhere denies this.
