Modern devices make it easier than ever to take notes. For those who have iPhones, there are several easy ways to take notes. Let’s look at using the iPhones Reminders app and the Notes app. Because the lists may sync across multiple devices if you’re using iCloud, you can access them on your iPad and Mac as well.

How to use the Reminders app:

  1. Open the Reminders app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap “Add list” to create a new list.
  3. Those with multiple Apple IDs should choose the account where they want the list created.
  4. Give the list a name such as “Grocery list” or “Weekday chores.”
  5. Select the “List type.” Choices include standard, groceries, or Smart list. Go with standard for basic lists.
  6. Choose a color and an icon for your list.
  7. Tap “Done.” This will save your list.
  8. Tap “New item” to add to your list.
  9. In “New Reminder” you may also do the following:
  10. Add notes
  11. Add URL websites
  12. Set a date/time
  13. Set #tags
  14. Set a location reminder
  15. Attach an image
  16. Flag
  17. Add priority
  18. List tasks & subtasks
  19. Add an image
  20. Upon completion, tap the small circle beside it to mark that it’s done. This will remove it from the list.

How to use the Notes app:

  1. Open the Notes app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap the folder where you want to create the note.
  3. Tap the new note icon in the lower-right corner.
  4. Title your new note.
  5. Tap the Checklist icon (an unfilled circle).
  6. Type your first item and hit return.
  7. A new bubble will appear for the next item.
  8. Once done with an item on the list, tap the small circle beside it and the word done to get a check mark to show it’s completed.
  9. Should you wish to move done items to the bottom of your list, go into your note settings and tap sort checked items automatically.
  10. To remove individual items from your list, go to that line item’s end and hit backspace.

I use old tech… a sheet of paper and a pen. When I grab the item at the store, I cross it out. Simple!
