How about Seattle’s Northgate Mall, which opened in1950 as the first post-war shopping mall, anchored by the Bon Marche and developed by Allied Stores?

I knew all three! But I had an advantage as a Minnesota girl. The first mall, Dayton’s, and Sears were all started in Minnesota! Merry Christmas!????

Cincinnati’s Swifton Shopping Center was also opened in 1956. Trump was involved in making it happen.

Good ID of malls, even Wyoming had them in med to large cities( by wyoming standards) as Gov. Ed Hershler once said “Wyo. Is what America was” and ” Wyo.is a Large city with LONG STREETS”

That first mall was named Southdale located in Edina, Minnesota, a suburb of Minneapolis. I grew up 3 miles from it and biked there many times as a kid. I think it’s still there.

I believe the first enclosed mall was the Lloyd Center located in Portland Oregon. On the side or the Meyer and Frank Store was a Plaque stating the mall was dedicated by then Vice President Richard M. Nixon.
