OPINION: The Republican Minority in Congress and A Few Good Democrats Resist The Socialist Spending Legislation

WASHINGTON, DC, Sep 15 — Thank God for the few remaining centrist and moderate Democrats in Congress. It just may be that they can help keep the progressives in the House and the Senate from dismantling the Republic by helping to save the nation from bankruptcy with their outrageous $3.5 trillion socialist spending bill.

What’s wrong with the spending bill? Instead of focusing on real national needs and fiscal prudence, its focus is on a socialist agenda including raising taxes, ideals that fuel inflation, tuition-free pre-kindergarten, and community college, Medicare-for-all, expansion of Medicare benefits to include dental, hearing, and vision benefits, and giving millions of illegal immigrants legal status and a road to citizenship [read that as an enhancement of the leftist voter base].

Take Joe Manchin, the Senator from West Virginia. As he put it in an opinion article he wrote and published in the Wall Street Journal earlier this month: “Over the past 18 months, we’ve spent more than $5 trillion responding to the coronavirus pandemic. Now Democratic congressional leaders propose to pass the largest single spending bill in history with no regard to rising inflation, crippling debt, or the inevitability of future crises. Ignoring the fiscal consequences of our policy choices will create a disastrous future for the next generation of Americans.”

Manchin concluded his Op-Ed article with a plea to fellow Democrats to slow down, reminding them that their loyalty is to the nation and the Constitution, not the party, and asking for a “strategic pause” in the budgeting process.

The reasoning expressed by Senator Manchin came as close as it could to the reasoning expressed by the staunchest conservative Republican politicians and commentators, folks like Pat Buchanan, who published a new opinion article just yesterday regarding the spending bill. In it, he points out that:

“As of today, however, neither the infrastructure bill nor the $3.5 trillion omnibus bill is a done deal, with the former looking more probable than the latter. But if both are passed, they would create new records and new realities for the U.S. government.

“The federal debt would exceed the U.S. economy for the first time since World War II. The deficits for this year and last, roughly $3 trillion in each year, already exceed any past deficits since World War II

“Passage of the $3.5 trillion omnibus bill would constitute a quantum leap in the number of Americans dependent on the federal government for the necessities of life.”

He went on to conclude that “It would be tantamount to an admission of belief that the real engine of economic growth in America, the truly indispensable provider upon whom an ever-expanding share of the population of the nation depend for food, rent, health care, education and cash income, is the government of the United States, not the American free-market system.”

In his commentary, Buchanan noted that President Ronald Reagan, in his first inaugural speech, observed that “government is not the solution to our problem, government is the problem.” He went on to note that, in his first inaugural speech, President Bill Clinton agreed with the late Mr. Reagan. Clinton said that “We know big government does not have all the answers. We know there’s not a program for every problem. We have worked to give the American people a smaller, less bureaucratic government in Washington. And we have to give the American people one that lives within its means. The era of big government is over.”

But sadly, it appears that it was actually the era of the “loyal opposition” that was coming to an end, ultimately giving in to progressives and socialists in our midst hell-bent on overthrowing the legacy of our Founding Fathers to be replaced by a newfound Marxist ideology. It is an ideology that Bernie Sanders, the self-declared socialist-n-chief of the Senate Budget Committee, and his Congressional cronies seek to embed in the spending bill.

As political satirist Walt Kelly once pointed out in his Pogo comic strip way back in 1970, “we have seen the enemy and he is us.”

John Grimaldi served on the first non-partisan communications department in the New York State Assembly and is a founding member of the Board of Directors of Priva Technologies, Inc. He has served for more than thirty years as a Trustee of Daytop Village Foundation, which oversees a worldwide drug rehabilitation network.

Bernie Sanders is an asshole! He and a entire group of DemocRATS have destroyed the State of Vermont. I beg everyone following these idiots to ask the working class in the elected ones home States how people like Sanders are viewed in their home States and you’ll likely get answered like “they sucked while they were in office “! I can’t believe Vermont used to be Republicans not anymore! Losers from Southern New England moved there and set up their nests collecting from the State. It baffles me and most of the people I speak to are not for a Socialist government. They want government out of their lives!
If you want something messed up let OUR Government take charge! They screw up anything they touch!

Of course the filthy democraps want to fund education from pre-kindergarten through community college so they can continue their indoctrination. The disgusting lie that is critical race theory is the communists favorite tool to destroy America.

This is, without a doubt, one of the worst ideas from Democrats that has ever been put forward. Anyone who supports this Bill should be removed from the Congress without delay. Start with Pelosi and her cadre of communists!

Words don’t do it…we need to take what action we can…VOTE IN PERSON IN ’22 & ’24….we need to show our determination against this administration actions by winning the majority in the House & Senate…and the Presidency in ’24 & ’28.

Give us the names of the “moderate” Democrats that are with Joe Manchin in resisting the excessive spending bill…we need to keep them in office for common sense to return to the Democratic Party & we can vote out the rest plus Pelosi & Schummer!!

Thank, God, that a few Democrats are holding out, but how long can they hold out against the pressure from Pelosi and Little Chucky Schumer. I don’t trust them, they in the past have not shown that they will buck the Powers To Be. Not one time did any of them say going after President Trump, or any of his policies are wrong, they were happy to play the un-American game of a power grab, and the only reason they are doing it is, to look good for next year Election, and then if re-elected will go right back at destroying America.

Thank God that a Democrat Senator Joe Manchin realizes what the increasing debt will do to this country. He deserves lots of credit, & Republican party should be thinking the same way. The road to Socialism must be stopped by our Congress or what…

I saw on media today that CEO salary used to be 20-times salary of hourly (Prior to 90s) and now it is 160-times hourly. That is nothing but greed & corporations have allowed that to happen & that is why I have very little sympathy for not raising tax rate on Corporate earnings in USA. Someday, history will look back & say Middle class made & built this country and so what when wrong when we starting beating up on that class in USA.

It’s about time folks are paying attention to our nation’s HUGE deficits! Now we need to take our country back and pull it out of the financial crisis we seem to be having. This admin is all about spend, spend, spend with nothing to show for it.

I fear it is too late. The Godless demo/globalists plan is to have America established in the one-world order by 2030 or sooner. We are no longer fighting just “bad” men, we are fighting spiritual evil and the demos have some of the most evil and wicked people on earth in their party. They are being controlled by demonic forces. If you think Loopey Joe is wicked, you haven’t seen anything yet. Kamala’s wickedness is like a barrell with no bottom.

Unfortunately, the Democrats are a monolithic block that vote lock step in line. This is all a plan. A few may hold out, but those few will fold to make Nancy Pelosi look like a powerful Speaker of the House.

People- 3.5 trillion is not going to be near the money needed to take care of all the people our government is bringing in every day. Sleepy Joe will ask for 4 trillion more dollars by the end of this year to pay for them!!! Who is going to take care of our families? Not sleepy Joe!!!!!!!!

Well said James. But even if we got into an armed rebellion with these devils, I have no doubt in my mind that Comrade Obiden would order the military to kill citizens. The over the hill gang, which is most readers on this forum, with handguns and rifles are no match for tanks and F-16’s. Remember, the commies own the media!
