There are plenty of post-mortems about Raphael Warnock’s defeat of Republican candidate Herschel Walker in the runoff for the Senate seat in Georgia.
Yes, in the same state, Republican Brian Kemp won a decisive victory in the race for governor.
And, yes, to be kind, Walker was not a great flagbearer to draw voters, particularly Black voters, to the Republican Party.
But let’s ask why voters, particularly Black voters, would send Warnock to represent them for another six years in the U.S. Senate.
The Georgia electorate is around 30% Black, and 90% of them voted for Warnock.
What are these Black voters thinking about?
Warnock is a boilerplate Democrat of the left, with an agenda of government spending as the answer to every problem, who is also the address to turn to keep the door open to abortion and the LGBTQ agenda.
Atlanta, which is about 50% Black, has a poverty rate of 18.5% compared to a national average of 11.6%, and among Black adults in Atlanta, 75% are not married compared to 50% of all adults nationwide.
Is Warnock’s agenda, pretty much the agenda of his party, really what these folks need?
Let’s turn to economist John Cochrane of Stanford University’s Hoover Institution. In an essay about the importance of economic growth, he notes that the U.S. economy averaged 3.5% growth annually from 1947 to 2000. Since then, the average has hovered around 2%.
What if the average growth from 1947 to 2000 was 2% instead of 3.5%, asks Cochrane. He answers that average income in 2000 would have been $23,000 instead of $50,000.
Taking 1.5% off the annual growth rate lops off roughly half the average earning potential of working Americans.
Democrats love to pitch their programs as about rich versus poor, “haves” versus “have nots.” But if we are doomed to slow, sclerotic growth, who will suffer the most? The “haves” or the “have nots”?
Check out the latest long-term economic projections from the Congressional Budget Office.
They forecast economic growth over the next 30 years averaging less than 2% per year.
This while the federal government bloats to levels unimaginable in healthier times.
CBO projects national debt, now 100% of our GDP, something not seen since World War II, to 185% of GDP by 2052.
Cochrane notes that the core of economic growth is “productivity, the value of goods and services each worker can produce in a unit of time.”
But productivity is declining because an increasing percentage of every income earner’s reality is controlled by government. Transfer payments, taxing one set of Americans to make payments to others, now amount to $4 trillion — 80% of the federal budget and more than 20% of disposable income (four times higher than in the 1950s).
When people are rewarded for not working, they don’t work.
Today’s labor force participation rate — the percent of the population of working age that is either working or looking for work — is now 62% compared to 67% 20 years ago.
So, my fellow Black Americans, Warnock and his party may make you feel good that they will deliver more government money to you that the country doesn’t have.
But you buy into this feel-good moment at the expense of the future of your children and grandchildren.
Warnock is a pastor, so he surely read in his Bible that man’s punishment for the original sin was work.
The ship is sinking, folks.
And the first to drown will be those low-income Americans who think they will be saved by short-term government fixes served up by the Democratic Party and their faithful servants like Pastor Warnock.
This doesn’t let Republicans off the hook. I appeal to Republicans to belly up, finally, to the task at hand, and get these truths to all Americans, and particularly those low-income Black Americans whose votes you so badly need.

Some Georgia people are stupid well I’m going to Florida soon and my wheels will not be stopping in Georgia they lost me oh I will not be buying fuel or staying in a hotel in Georgia
Mr. Warnock may call himself a pastor, but I would not like to be in his shoes when he stands before the One, he is supposed to be pastoring about. I can almost hear it now, Didn’t I do this and that in Your name. And Jesus replies “depart from me, you didn’t do anything in my name”. Mr. Warnock, if you by chance read this, please, repent and turn your eyes upon Jesus. Eternity is a long time. Where are you going to spend it?
‘Cuz they’re s t u p i d.
Better ask why white people are still supporting the Orange Menace. And nominating somebody stupid like Herschel Walker. I mean the way both Walker and the Orange speak is laughter inducing. It would be all well and good if they were not running for office.
Kemp won because he is a moderate Republican that most people can get behind. His opponent, Stacy “Let’s Eat” Abrams is similarly radical and terrible. Even with the media on her side, she could not win.
So the Republicans need to get thru their thick skulls that they need to nominate moderates to win. With the Media primarily on the Democrat side, Republicans need bulletproof candidates to stand a chance in the future.
By the way, on a personal note I voted for the Orange Menace in 2020 something that I really regret. Thankfully he ended up losing to Joe Biden. This year, I voted for Kemp and Warnock. I will always vote against the Orange Menace and candidates he hand picks. I am sure I am not the only one who is a right-leaning independent. Y’all may give my post 100 thumbs down but remember, American Voters will give radicals thumbs downs by the tens of thousands to tens of millions at the ballot box.
Go away Biden voter.
Please Vote POLICY over personality. You are not becoming friends with these people or having them over for dinner. DO THEIR POLICES aline with you BELIEFS ????
Insanity squared, your name says it all. Get some much needed help, please!
In other words, you have no clue.
BECAUSE CHIPS ARE STUPID, they LIKE PAYING TRIPLE FOOD PRICES AND HIGH GAS PRICES LIKE ALL liberals
Habit, is the main reason to vote for anyone with a D behind his/her name. Either habit, insanity, because voting for the same thing every time hoping for change without ever seeing any change is the the definition of insanity, or Stockholm Syndrome because they’ve been abused by the Democrat Party ever since the Democrats were slaveholders, then the KKK, and now slumlords, race baiting pimps, and protectors of the drug cartels that enslave and hurt not just those living in the inner cities.
I do not understand why anyone voted for Warnock as he has done nothing for our country. He follows everything that Biden does. He has done many wrong things but he was anxious to print anything Walker did.
He was not anxious to state his wrong doings!
How can a preacher go along with the Democrats????
Warnock is as much a Christian minister as “The Revrun”, Al Sharptongue, and Jeremiah Wight.
LBJ’s so-called War on Poverty was specifically designed to destroy the black middle class in America, as much as possible, and recondition as many as possible to view themselves as permanent victims in need of constant aid and support from the federal government. Well after almost 60 years, what you have is another Democrat success story. Georgia and Warnock is just the latest validiation of that success. However, you can find the same statistics in places like New York, New Jersey, California and many, many other states around the country. At least 90 percent of black community consistently votes Democrat in election after election, no matter how self-defeating that action might be towards making their lives better. You can make all the intelligent and correct socio-economic arguments you want, that the Republican agenda is the obviously better alternative for the black community, but you’ll still never get more than a small minority of black voters to realize that at this point. Those in the black community, that have escaped the mental conditioning that is so prevalent already consistently vote for Republican candidates around the country and their message of self-empowerment and opportunity. The problem is the rest have been conditioned, after decades of being told “You can’t succeed on your own. You need constant “help” from the Democrat Party and its policies and it’s “someone else’s fault.”, that the vast majority have fully embraced the victimhood mentality the Democrats have fostered.
When trump failed to achieve a significant chunk of aa votes i realized that no one else with an R beside their name would either. As you say, the demon party conditioning has worked. Free stuff is the mantra and aas arent going to cease chanting it anytime soon. The walker types appeal to whites only. Even trump failed to grasp that fact. In heavily aa areas this is decisive.
Don’t forget the under 30 population, which has been thoroughly brainwashed. They simply want Abortion and free stuff including college tuition, health care, rent and whatever else the socialists will offer. I believe they also got Fetterman elected. Yes, you can talk about quality candidates, and preach to the choir until you turn blue, but this population group will always be deaf to Republicans. Charlie Kirk might be on the right track with his campas activism, but I fear it is too late. The Pied Piper has already lead them away.
I know a number of black friends down in Georgia, who voted for Walker. To them, Warnock was the typical wolf in sheep’s clothing that the Democrats always trot out every election cycle to sell the idea that blacks cannot succeed on their own without Democrats taking care of them. Only the name and face differs per the candidates the Democrat recruit. My friends all find that sort of negative reinforcement messaging completely insulting and downright racist. Yet another trait the Democrat Party is noted for. Of course they are all successful business people or high-skilled workers who realized early in life that the only obsticle to personal success is yourself.
The professional political managers all tell every Reoublican candidate that they have a great shot at getting a significant percentage of the black vote if they just do X. Meaning either change some messaging, as this author suggests, or be more like the Democrats. Neither option ever moves the needle in a significant way, because what you’re really trying to overcome is not a defect in messaging or the style, but rather 60 years of mental conditioning. That’s why you can put up almost any Democrat up for election, even one convicted of a crime or mentally impared and get 90 percent of the black voter base to vote for him or her.
Remember before LBJ’s little War on Poverty, there was a vibrant, generally well educated black middle class in this country. One that embraced strong two parent family values and the American work ethnic. Welfare, housing subsidies, food stamps and other federal programs that conditioned participation on replacing the husband with accepting the government as a substitute killed all that.
Absolutely correct!
You are so correct in this. I wish someone would come up with the right wordage that would hit home with the black community. We actually need people who can go into the black communities and meet with this group. Maybe at a church function or a school meeting. I think the black community needs a face to face meetings, not speeches, not mailings. They need to be asked face to face, name something their Democratic rep has done for them and their schools and community this year, last year, until it sinks in.
Amen, Brother !
