Though Democrats have already secured control of the Senate, the December 6 runoff election in Georgia between Democrat Raphael Warnock and Republican Herschel Walker will determine whether they have an outright 51-49 majority or a 50-50 tie broken by Vice President Kamala Harris. This distinction is important, as a 50-50 Senate gives Republicans some more procedural tools that they can use to frustrate Democrats’ policy goals. While issues like inflation, crime, and abortion will undoubtedly dominate the headlines with less than two weeks to go until Election Day, education could be the “sleeper issue” that tips the scales in Walker’s favor.
Survey data and election results from November 8 provide some useful information that Republicans should not ignore as they make their final pitch to Georgia voters. Exit polls showed abortion and inflation were the top issues affecting how Georgians cast their ballot. Of those who cited abortion as their top issue, 77% voted for Warnock; of those who cited inflation, 72% voted for Walker. Similarly, deep partisan divides exist on every other issue, a fact reflected in the tightness of the race, with Warnock edging out Walker 49.4% to 48.5% and Libertarian Chase Oliver earning 2.1%.
One issue where Walker may have an edge, however, is education. Republicans’ parents’ rights and anti-indoctrination agenda have proven immensely popular with voters across the political spectrum. In pinning Warnock down on education, Walker has the advantage of being able to point to Warnock’s support for Biden administration education policies which most voters oppose. According to an AMAC Newsline/Trafalgar Group poll conducted in September, an overwhelming 82% of likely voters – including 68.6% of Democrats – do not approve of a Biden Department of Education policy that would force students to attend mandatory counseling without parental consent for “misgendering” another student.
The Biden administration has also proposed rules which would funnel tax dollars to groups promoting “anti-racist” curricula – code for Critical Race Theory. Warnock voted to confirm the very Department of Education bureaucrats who are enforcing these woke edicts and should have to answer to voters for it.
Warnock also voted against a Republican-led amendment to prevent the teaching of Critical Race Theory in schools. In addition, Warnock is a co-sponsor of the Equality Act, a bill that would add gender identity and sexual orientation as a protected class under federal law and open the door for allowing biological males to use female restrooms in schools or compete in women’s sports – two more proposals that most voters oppose.
Even before his time in office, Warnock relentlessly promoted the radical concepts that parents want out of classrooms, something which is unlikely to sit well with Georgians. In 2017, Warnock said in one of his sermons that “America has a pre-existing condition – it’s called racism, it’s called classism, it’s called bigotry, it’s called xenophobia.” A year earlier, Warnock also said Americans should “repent” for their worship of “whiteness.” Given his clear embrace of far-left talking points on the racism that is supposedly engrained in the very fabric of America, it should come as no surprise that Warnock wants these falsehoods taught in every classroom.
Republicans’ success elsewhere on education also suggests Walker would be wise to emphasize the issue. For example, a poll from earlier this year found that a majority of Democratic primary voters in Florida supported Governor Ron DeSantis’s “Parental Rights in Education” bill that banned the teaching of sexual orientation and gender identity in kindergarten through 3rd grade, despite the media’s misleading characterization of the legislation as the “don’t say gay bill.” A Manhattan Institute poll from late last year found that a majority of both Black and white parents support removing “lessons based on critical race theory about concepts such as white privilege and systemic racism from public school curriculum.”
Additionally, other results from November 8 suggest that education is a winning issue for conservatives. Dozens of Republican-backed school board candidates and superintendents who emphasized parental rights won in areas where other Republicans struggled. Florida and Texas, where Governor Greg Abbott also signed anti-Critical Race Theory legislation, were two bright spots for Republicans on an otherwise disappointing night. Conservative school board candidates in those states fared exceptionally well.
In the Georgia runoff, Walker would be wise to force Warnock both to take a stance on parental rights and left-wing ideologies in schools and to answer for his past support of the sort of toxic brand of identity politics that voters want out of classrooms. While the conservative base is in sync with most moderate and swing voters when it comes to the issue of indoctrination in schools, Warnock is beholden to a left-wing activist base that has gone from denying Critical Race Theory and radical gender theory exist to actively pushing the concepts in K-12 schools.
Just days after more than four million more Americans cast congressional ballots for Republicans than Democrats, President Joe Biden defiantly asserted that “nothing” will change in the next two years. For parents who are fed up with the politicization of classrooms and the failures of the American education system, that is hardly welcome news. For Walker, capitalizing on this frustration and following the path of leaders like DeSantis and Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin a year before him by leaning into education could again prove a winning strategy.

Lots of nice thoughts here but I doubt that the Marxist-democrat philosophy being pushed by Warnock will turn off the hard core, TDS, foaming at the mouth voters that want to be controlled by scam artists like Biden and Warnock. Walker is, indeed, a flawed candidate; so was/is Trump. But both were/are a better choice than charlatans like Warnock and Fetterman, Biden et al.
Those without children may not be as energized about parental rights and school indoctrination as, say abortion. Hence I give the advantage to Warnock.
No matter how the AMAC propaganda writers try to spin it, the REALITY will change. This place is a far right-wing echo chamber, removed from the American Mainstream. And to the Mainstream, Candidate Quality as well as Moderate Policies matter – A LOT. So people like Walker & Trump are simply UNELECTIBLE!
And I am saying this as a right-leaning Independent. I voted for Gov Kemp because he is a more or less rational, acceptable, moderate Republican. I would like to see the Republicans do well over the long run, I do not want to see the Democrats totally dominate the scene. But if Republicans keep promoting retarded, extreme ideas, as well as retarded, stupid politicians, they will keep on losing again, again, and again. Walker is a dummy, I am almost 100% sure that he will lose, again. And I personally voted for Warnock today for the second time to make sure he wins in the runoff too.
Like I said before, I am a right-leaning INDEPENDENT and I hope that the Republican party can overcome Trumpism. Please realize that Trump will keep sinking the party if he is not out of the picture soon. But perhaps this pain is necessary for the Republicans to learn this lesson. As a voter, I am happy to deliver the medicine. It is unpleasant in the short run, but is necessary in the long run. Feel free to dislike my post as much as you want here in this echo chamber. But also remember that in the American Mainstream Trumpism is disliked a lot more and will be defeated by a greater margin.
I see so voting for Warnock will hurt Trump. I can tell you this: the Democrats lost in 2016. I can tell you this as well: some Republicans lost in 2016. Donald Trump won, against all the Ds and a lot the Rs in the whole race, under the platform of cleaning up government and Making America Great Again. Who would have a problem with that? Donald Trump is the Democrats biggest advantage. He scores own goals with promotion of flawed candidates and while raising a lot of funds, seems pretty miserly in sharing it with other candidates. Let’s see, in 2016 Arizona was a red state and now both senators are Democrats. Georgia had two Republican senators. His style and bad judgement are driving voters away.

Lots of talk about leaning and “mainstream” and quality candidates. When a democrat party posts candidates like Fetterman and wins, you know that the voters are not voting for mainstream American values – have to wonder what kind of country they want. Marxism is not symbolic of the kind of country I want to see, don’t know about you. Voting for democrats is voting (at least so far as we have experienced from this Biden Admin) for a country that looks more like a Communist country than the America that became a world power in the late 40’s/50’s.
After all is said & done where either of these candidates is concerned in the state of Georgia, once again I believe it will come down to who comes up with those final votes, after the election is technically already over with to squeak out the win, as we already are fully aware, the Democrat Socialist Party within the state of Georgia wrote the book on holding those ballots in hiding until they need them in order to secure the win, that my friends is the sad reality across the entire nation where MAIL-IN BALLOTS are concerned, the system as it stands currently is totally rigged in this regard…Until this is NO LONGER allowed, Walker is all but guaranteed to LOSE the General Senate Runoff in Georgia, regardless if he highlights Warnock’s character flaws with respect to Georgia’s children’s education…

Is Walker capable of making an educated position statement about education and holding Warnock accountable?
It appears that education will be deciding factor for voters in GA, but Warnock might decide to push Walker if he has told any lies since the day he started campaigning.
Poor Johnh. You complain about what the Democrats are doing to our country, yet you continue to vote Democrat and wonder why nothing changes when alternatives exist. Lol!!!
One has to laugh. If the string pullers remain unchanged the “runoff” will end up the same way the last one did. Oh, it would be nice if “election integrity” were not a thing. But it is. And regardless of the issue “du jour,” the results will be explained away handily. Meanwhile “we,” the simple, “not too bright” America lovers, will continue to be treated like dependable, predictable, clueless…idiots.

Making dems actually state their true beliefs is usually a winning strategy, but getting them to admit them is extremely tough. If the media would only hold them to their spoken words in the past it would make a huge difference and much more difficult for them to lie
Democrats are generally pretty open these days about their true beliefs. A significant percentage of the public either doesn’t care or is too ignorant to understand where all these policies will lead. Either way, that doesn’t bode well for a change in the direction of the country that a growing percentage of the public wants to accept. In every Democrat run major city or state, crime is out of control due to the very policies the Democrats have campaigned on and enacted into law. Yet when elections roll around what happens? They just re-elect the same Democrats or elect new Democrats running on the same dysfunctional policies. So who is at fault? The Democrats, who have been pretty open about what they stand for and actually implement those policies into law or the ignorant citizens of those Democrat city and states that just keep on pulling the lever for Democrats? To my way of thinking, the Democrats have laid out exact;y what they are about. It is the ignorant and stupid members of the voting public that are to blame, because they just keep on supporting people that want to end this nation.
As for the media, that ship sailed decades ago. The MSM is just far more open about their bias for protecting the Democrat Party and its members, because most of the MSM is populated with like-minded leftists. Again, it is up to the public to educate themselves about who is running for office and what they stand for. Stop expecting “someone else” to spoon feed everything to the public. It is OUR responsibility to be informed citizens, not someone else’s responsibility.

Deciding Factor in Georgia Senate Runoff is who cheats and who counts the votes.
I fear you’re right. Even if every Libertarian goes for Walker you’ve still got the corrupt election crew to contend with.
My Aunt has a Grandchild in Kindergarten in a private school and she was sent an email from a parental group asking her to support gender identity to be taught in the classroom. She was also asked if she wanted to join the group!
We’re talking about a woman in her 80’s whose values are 180 degrees different from the indoctrinated parents of today. She declined the offer and was offended by anyone asking her to approve of this gender identity/sex education for children so young.
The more important issue is did your Aunt contact the child’s parents to report what is being proposed to be taught to her grandchild? If no, then why not? If yes, are the parents of the child going to do anything to ensure their child isn’t indoctrinated? Their options are:
1) Gather other parents up to take on the school directly to ensure that garbage isn’t taught.
2) Bring media attention to what this school is proposing.
3) If the school insists on “going woke”, then finding another school to have their child educated or home schooled?
Doing nothing but being outraged isn’t a response that protects the grandchild.
She informed the group that emailed her that she would not be discussing these subjects with her grandchild. Her son and daughter-in-law are as outraged as we are about this matter. It is up to them as the parents to decide if they want to keep their child in that private school or not. His oldest son was a student there from K-9th grade as that is as far as this school teaches and this subject never came up.
Thanks for the response. My concern was for the grandchild as children depend on their parents and extended family to look out for their best interests, as they can’t defend themselves from this nonsense. Hopefully the parents will be sitting down with someone in the school’s administration to discuss this matter further and find out why it is even being considered as something that should be taught by the school in the first place. That is where the 3 options I specified come into play, if the school admministration is in support of teaching young children this garbage. Again, thanks for the follow-up response.
College indoctrination will never be any where near as significant an influence on elections as vote fraud.

Given the current state of voting integrity in GA and the US as a whole-read that little to none in certain states-the one, critical factor will be how much cheating will be allowed. Frankly, given the lack of moral fiber in the courts and state legislatures this may be a repeat of the 2020 runoff.
Leave it to corrupt worthless RINO McConnell to screw this one up too. He will probably donate to Warnock.
