Why Maine Will Change – Go Republican

Maine – like many Democrat-controlled states – has had enough. It is in a tailspin. Democrats invite and fund illegal aliens, just made Maine a “sanctuary law” penalizing police for talking with ICE, created explosive drug trafficking (10,000 ODs annually, sex trafficking), in June 2025 Democrats raised personal and corporate income tax (again), and “deftly” (black humor) pushed Maine’s public education down to 50 of 50, super for indoctrination, terrible for solid education.

But there is more. Maine Republicans – and Independents and Democrats – are sick of ever-higher property taxes, stunned that Maine is now Number One in the nation for a tax killing seniors and keeping young people from ever owning a home, even renting. This has GOT to stop, be reversed, and can be. In some towns, property taxes tripled in seven years, in some doubled, and in all rose.

Why? Because they are not capped, and Democrats push unfunded mandates down. What are those? They are “death by a thousand cuts,” as several county commissioners have told me, regulations “gone wild,” mandates on schools (politically correct, objectively stupid), and AI pushed on teachers by administrators (and “curriculum coordinators”), plus endless mandates on towns.

We are secretly being fed poison, overregulation that is fundamentally killing us. From new Democrat mandates on jails, schools, towns, and counties – upping property taxes – we are crumbling.

Crumbling? Yes, seniors can no longer afford to stay in homes they paid for years ago, property taxes are out of control to satisfy the Democrat addiction to spending, mandates, and progressive crap. Seniors need to be EXEMPT from property taxes. Why pay rent to the government for what you own?

Yes, because young, working Mainers under 35 cannot afford a home, the American Dream, since median income is $200 below median rental, so they live with parents, work, no chance for a home.

That has GOT to stop! But it is worse. Beyond crime, drugs, taxes, and affordability, Mainers – and many victimized by woeful Democrats – face what might be called moral and social decay. Rather than leaning in, educating the next generation to work hard, get prosperity with real skills, they are doping them (literally and figuratively) with dependence.

Moreover, from my daily interaction with young people and their parents, they are catching on, realizing that they are being lulled into a purposeless life, disrespected, not inspired by can-do, not incentivized by high-dollar jobs in the trades, college, running a company – as I long have.

Older people are realizing they are being used, sidelined for useless spending on useless things – like illegals, cost sucking solar and wind subsidies ($1.6 billion paid for by non-solar users), while young people are “the boiling frog,” the one who figures it out too late, only they are waking up.

They want really good jobs, good skills, more chances to use their hands, and if they want to get good degrees. They want affordable housing, they want a life, a chance to work and get a house, what the same Democrats in power now GOT – but are denying to the next generation, and they are right.

Let’s be honest. The other issues are ridiculous, just Democrat fund-raising schemes, pushing anatomically MALE men in top GIRLS locker rooms, bathrooms, and causing them trauma at a young age, fear, and degradation – loss of physical, emotional, spiritual, dignity, and privacy rights.

What is wrong with these Democrats? That is a question in Maine now – and nationally. A recent survey noted, as reported in the Wall Street Journal, that “63 percent of voters hold an unfavorable view of the Democrat Party – the highest back to 1990″, and “30 points higher than the 33 percent with a favorable view.”

What does all this mean? In Maine – and likely the nation – it means a day of reckoning. Voters are sick of lies, arrogance, fear, lost public safety, unaffordable lives, uncaring career elected pols, and loss of control over their government. They want it back, and now.

While Maine’s Governor Mills gives the middle finger to Mainers – and gets ritually booed (moose lottery, parades), Mainers are beginning to catch on. They can control their destiny, or let the Democrats control their lives.

They watch her build a multi-million dollar fence about her “mansion” – the latest indulgence this faithless, feckless, indifferent governor has decided is her right  – and ee their lives get more insecure. They are not going to have it.

Bottom line: Watch blue states – Maine to the nation – rise in 2026. Contrary to conventional wisdom, this will be an accountability-centric midterm ever. People are angry. Maine will change – likely go Republican – with other Democrat states. As candidate for Governor, I am all over it.

So Mainers are just now “catching on” to the corrupt horror that is the Democrats and their party of corruption, crime, drugs, love affair with illegals, human trafficking, taxes, regulations, and MORE HIGH TAXES, ETC….
It is truly hard to believe they are that STUPID. If they don’t FIRE EVERY DEMOCRAT IN THE NEXT ELECTION, AND THE FOLLOWING 100 ELECTIONS, then let them remain locked-in in their own SELF-INFLICTED MISERY.

IT’S WELL PAST TIME MAINERS, TO WAKE UP!!!!

Good luck with that. Maine might have a chance if it isn’t predominately occupied by wealthy people. That’s what happened to San Diego County. It was Red up until about 10 years ago. Full of middle class and ton’s of veterans and legal traditional conservative Hispanics. The entire coastal corridor is now full of the very well off elite. They could care less about the middle class. The only thing they care about is themselves and their illegal slaves they want to keep, to satisfy some weird white quilt. (and yes, the Coast is 80% white.) East County is about the last Red area.

Reading and giving careful thought to this article it sounds like a form of class warfare is underway in Maine initiated by the Democrats and being waged on anyone vulnerable to their wickedness. Apparently the primary strategy has to do with attacking the foundations that honest, good people have their lives built on.And that sort of thing can only be done by the use of multiple forms of distraction . So, if someone is building something — a house, a factory,an airport a shipyard and the foundation is being destroyed in that endeavor then a defense plan is needed so that the attackers are dealt with accordingly and the project can be completed. In this sense ,this political sense , that means having right thinking people in positions of authority acting decisively to make life ( as life is understood in the Declaration of Independence) possible. Robert B. Charles would be a great Governor for the State of Maine and the American system would be returned replacing the present corrupt system that obviously does not care at all for the principles found in the Declaration and the Bill of Rights, Each State in the Nation needs people who believe in and practice Honor, Honesty, Integrity, Courage and Loyalty and have respect for the principles of Faith, Family and Freedom. as representatives in the various State governments. Better days are ahead that is for sure !

Very good article, Mr. Charles. The only problem?: The people of Maine keep voting the same way, with the same Democrat wants/ways, and nothing changes. It’s up to each voting resident of Maine to change their ways before change happens.

We would all love to see Maine become a Red state. It not only be much better for Maine but another Red state would be better for the country as a whole!

You can’t squeeze blood out of a turnip. There are only so many tax payers to spread these increase over. It is a failed narrative.

That’s exactly what Trump is trying to do. You keep fighting him holding back the change that’s needed for your state. Plus, why would you harbor theives, killers, child trafficking, ect? That ruins your good state and hurts it in many many ways. Didn’t you know that it’s against the law to hide criminals?

Every state not only Maine should grab the life line and hold onto it , pull itself out of the Democratic ocean before it sinks to the bottom of it for good.

I empathize. Here in Washington state things are much the same. In my rural area I haven’t noticed a huge rise in property taxes, but I can see it coming. Our liberal legislature just passed bills raising hundreds of taxes. They keep spending and taxing, and the state goes farther into debt. I don’t see an end, we (not me) just elected another liberal governor last year.

Chuck… love ya like a brother. But, my goodness, get a proofreader. Some of this stuff is so disjointed and difficult to read. I’m not the coldest beer in the fridge, but I’m not the village idiot, either. Reading your stuff is often a struggle in deciphering detail.

Maine has got to build a border wall between them and Massachusetts. They are being invaded by liberals from Boston.
