Only days remain to secure your health coverage for 2026. If you rely on Marketplace insurance, you must enroll by January 15—or risk going uninsured for the year ahead.

Time is running out, but AMAC is here to help you act fast and make informed decisions before the window closes.

Understanding Open Enrollment

Open Enrollment is the once-a-year opportunity for Americans under 65 to sign up for individual or family health coverage through the Affordable Care Act (ACA) Marketplace. The window began on November 1 and closes at midnight on January 15.

If you don’t receive insurance through an employer, Medicare, or Medicaid, this may be your only chance to secure affordable health insurance and possibly qualify for financial assistance. Missing the deadline means you could go without coverage until 2027.

Marketplace Coverage

Marketplace plans include essential benefits such as doctor visits, prescriptions, hospital stays, and preventive services. They’re a vital option for Americans who are self-employed, recently retired, or in transition between jobs.

But to get the best value, you need to find out if you’re eligible for a subsidy and how much you could save.

You May Qualify for a Subsidy

Many people are unaware that they qualify for significant financial help. Known as premium tax credits, subsidies are based on your income and household size and can reduce your monthly premium by hundreds of dollars.

 Here’s a few key points:

  • The lower your income (within federal limits), the greater your potential savings.
  • Be accurate when estimating income. Overestimating or underestimating can impact your taxes.
  • Only Marketplace plans offer subsidies. Buying directly from an insurance company will disqualify you from receiving financial help.

Not sure if you qualify? AMAC’s licensed insurance advisors are here to guide you through this process—at no cost to you.

Why You Must Enroll by January 15

If you enroll by the deadline, your coverage will begin February 1. But if you miss it, you won’t be able to get coverage again until next fall unless you experience a qualifying life event like job loss or divorce.

Without insurance, you’ll face the full cost of care—doctor visits, prescriptions, lab tests, and more. This can pose a serious financial risk, especially for those managing ongoing health conditions.

Act Today

Don’t gamble with your health or your finances. Enroll by January 15 to ensure peace of mind for the year ahead. AMAC is here to help you every step of the way.
