The workhorse for ChatGPT, called the Transformer architecture, processes these vectors through hundreds of transformer layers using “self-attention.” Here, every word looks at other words to gain context to know what should come next. Then ChatGPT generates the response one token at a time, and after going through all the layers, the model generates a complete and understandable response.
