AMAC Action Posts Comments on CMS Website Supporting Stronger Transparency Rules
Seniors rely on a healthcare system that is transparent, accountable, and understandable. To that end, AMAC Action commented on the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ proposed updates to the Transparency in Coverage (TiC) requirements. We urged the agency to strengthen the final rule so that it delivers meaningful transparency and accountability for seniors and all consumers. We also support the proposal’s structural enhancements, including standardizing file formats, removing implausible provider-service combinations, and improving indexing and link consistency. Virginia Senate Bill 322– Protect Virginia’s Elections
This bill would put Virginia in the National Popular Vote Compact and require the state to award its Electoral College votes to the national popular vote winner even if that candidate loses Virginia. This would shift power away from the state, result in political campaigns focusing on large urban centers, not Virginia communities, and fundamentally alter presidential elections without a constitutional amendment. If you live in Virginia, click here to learn more and contact your state representative.

Term of the Week: Pocket Veto
“An automatic veto of a bill that occurs if the president or governor neither signs nor vetoes a bill within ten days of receiving it—as long as the legislature adjourns during that period. If the legislature convenes during that period, the bill will automatically become law. A pocket veto cannot be overridden by the legislature, though the bill can be reintroduced at the next legislative session.”
