Dad enlisted in 1936 because he was promised 3 hots, a cot, trips all around the world, a nice uniform that drove women nuts, but best of all was the great pay. Five whole dollars every month, and he spent some time thinking about what he would do with all that money. Finally he decided to sent $2 to grandma every month to help out the folks. Then he was told that he might get sent somewhere there would be fellers shooting at him, then he was told that he could shoot back with unlimited free ammunition. Uncle Sam was awfully good to our family.

3:47 Forgot that everyone wears camo all the time. When my husband was on active duty as an officer in the Marine Corps, they never wore camo off base. It was for work in the field mostly.
