AMAC Exclusive – By Shane Harris

As Congress returns from August recess this week, lawmakers will face an urgent time crunch to fund the government before the end of the fiscal year on September 30. But with Democrats continuing to obstruct the efforts of conservative Republicans to rein in out-of-control spending, address the border crisis, and end the pervasive woke brainwashing in the federal government and the military, a shutdown may be looming.

In a short letter released by the Conservative Action Project (CAP) on August 30, more than 100 conservative leaders, including AMAC CEO Rebecca Weber and AMAC Action President Bob Carlstrom, urged Republicans in Congress to hold firm in opposing a Continuing Resolution, which would extend government funding at its current level.

“Neither the House nor the Senate has passed the required appropriations bills, which means a short-term extension of funding – a Continuing Resolution – will be required,” the letter reads. “This is a critical ‘must pass’ leverage point, and conservatives must use it to disrupt the Washington Swamp’s playbook to force reforms to Democrats’ failed policies.”

As the CAP letter suggests, both Republican Speaker Kevin McCarthy and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell are reportedly eyeing a Continuing Resolution to punt on the funding debate until early December, which would “set the stage for yet another year-end, budget busting omnibus spending bill.”

Passing a Continuing Resolution would be a major blow to conservative efforts to check the far-left extremism of the Biden administration and congressional Democrats over the past two years. In effect, it would mean that Republican leadership has signed off on the same radical policies that they spent all of 2022 campaigning against – a major betrayal of conservative voters who elected a Republican House majority to do the exact opposite.

“No spending bills should pass Congress without desperately needed policy reforms attached that secure the border, end the weaponization of federal law enforcement, and stop the woke cancer that has infected the Pentagon,” the CAP letter continues. “Conservatives are ready with reforms. If congressional Democrats would rather shut down the government than secure America, then congressional Republicans must take that fight head-on.”

The conservative House Freedom Caucus looks poised to do just that. In a statement late last month, the Freedom Caucus declared its members would “refuse to support any such measure that continues Democrats’ bloated COVID-era spending and simultaneously fails to force the Biden Administration to follow the law and fulfill its most basic responsibilities.”

The Freedom caucus has made three key demands that must be met in order for it to support any funding legislation: the deal must include the “Secure the Border Act of 2023” (which passed the House in May and beefs up immigration enforcement), it must “address the unprecedented weaponization of the Justice Department and FBI,” and it must “end the Left’s cancerous woke policies in the Pentagon undermining our military’s core warfighting mission.”

Although Democrats and the mainstream media have dismissed the Freedom Caucus’s demands as “far right” and “extreme,” the truth is that allowing those issues to continue to fester is the real extreme position.

Official numbers state that there were more than 2.2 million known illegal border crossings last year. There have been more than 1.6 million with one month left to go in FY 2023—and the true numbers are certainly much higher. To call the situation at the border an “invasion” isn’t “racist” or “exaggerated” – it’s an understatement.

Incidents like the FBI’s dawn raid on the home of pro-life activist Mark Houck and a memo from an FBI field office likening traditional Catholics to “violent extremists” have also highlighted the blatant politicization of the FBI and other federal law enforcement agencies – again justifying the Freedom Caucus’s concerns.

Despite vigorous denials from Democrats and the mainstream media, the Freedom Caucus is also absolutely correct that the military is chock full of woke ideology. With China, Russia, and other U.S. adversaries growing more aggressive and every branch missing recruitment targets, passing a Continuing Resolution without reforms borders on a reckless national security threat.

There’s also the simple fact that allowing runaway spending to continue will bankrupt the country and destroy the financial future of entire generations of Americans. Under Biden, trillion-dollar deficits have become the new normal, and the ratio of U.S. debt held by the public to GDP (a measure commonly used by economists to assess a nation’s debt situation) is predicted to reach 98.2 percent this year. In 2011, it was just 65.5 percent.

Time and again, Republican leaders have caved under pressure and allowed Democrats to use the budgetary process to advance their far-left agenda, all funded by American taxpayer dollars. The most recent such case came earlier this year when Republican leaders capitulated on the debt limit fight.

Now, congressional Republicans have another chance to do what voters elected them to do. With Democrats appearing similarly determined to send the government into shutdown, the only question remaining is who will blink first.

And what makes any rational person think that bankrupting the country is not the agenda? Illegals pouring in to be fed, schooled, housed, clothed and (maybe) be given the right to vote, cost at the grocery store, gas station and clothing stores out of site, a push beginning before our next election to be fearful of Covid-??? and having to put our children back into masks. How about quitting your job to stay home and home school your kids again mom? And if that’s not bad enough, we are killing an entire generation with abortion and body mutilation that will render our children unable to have children. Open your eyes people!!!

If Republicans cannot overcome not balancing the budget, we are lost. These SOBs do not represent the people anymore and need to be tossed out.
Get some courage and do what the American people are seeking.

Why not have the GOP representatives do a poll with their constituents whom they are there to represent instead of polling their donors..after all we are the ones who work our tails off to pay the dang taxes

They will cave. They always do. The dems have won the hearts and minds of over half the country with freebies. Im being generous in saying that dem robots have minds. The losing streak goes back at least as far as the nineties when the hapless Rs were run over by the dem media screeching that even slowing the growth rate of spending was taking food out of the mouths of kids. Like a beaten dog who cowers at the approach of footsteps, the Rs whine and whimper to avoid further abuse, even turning on their own who dare to fight.

Democrats will thriw in Maui wildfire and Florida hurricane funding so their minions in the MSM can promote the “Republicans hate Hawaiians and indigenous Seminoles” to get them to cave then backdoor in more “green” funding or vote-getting buyouts like student loan payoffs for rich, white yuppies children.

Our federal government has had a balanced budget exactly twice in the past 50 years and both times it was by a Democrat administration, the last one in 2001!! BUT, since then, every Congress, every President ahas simply added to the deficit and I don’t think that the feds even try anymore to obtain a balanced budget!! We need to make some serious decisions about how our government spends money especially that money that we don’t have so they borrow!! And they borrow from countries who don’t like us and I don’t like this being held over our heads…..I feel like a hostage so many times when I am talking about our government!!! Give me that budget and I will find cuts that should be made!! Let the people who have balanced budgets in their household have a chance at that budget!! I’m sick of extremely wealthy politicians trying to tell us how to spend our money!! Maybe we should have some citizen actions concerning the budgets!!

Republicans need to support balanced budgets with no special increases. Inflation has eliminated all hopes of survival for middle to low-income households. Reduce federal spending and taxes. Let wage earners retain more of their income.

We need action. How about AMAC composing a letter opposing the continuing resolution. Members to forward to their representatives….hopefully this will have an impact. There are lots of good ideas about future logistics but they are a waste of time if we allow a CR to be approved.

I could go to jail for writing checks that I can’t pay. I would certainly go to prison for printing currency that I could back up. This is what this sideways administration is doing, printing money it can’t back up. The ression this time won’t be because the government over extended loans it couldn’t back up. This time it will be the American dollar, which effects the world! This government is insane and me, me government money give away policies have to be stopped. NO MORE MONEY! BALANCE THE BUDGET FIRST!

Only way out ie economic growth that creates more revenue because spending never gets cut and tax increases slow growth and may actually reduce revenue. Vote for pro growth candidates.

Unfortunately, there can never be a balanced budget again until the existing debt – now $33 trillion – is reduced. Interest on the debt is about $700 billion in the budget this year. $10 trillion interest in the budget is projected for the next ten years. So, unless we find a way to reduce the EXISTING debt, interest will destroy our economic system. It will be more than Social Security and Medicare costs for the next ten years, Most great societies have failed because of the destruction of their currencies. The Dollar is under attack globally, and here a home. MFS Patriotic Capitalism may be the only viable solution to the Debt Crisis, and amac may be the perfect partner. It is time for the Republicans to do what they promised or be changed out for someone who will. Currently, Alaska has no say in that fight thanks to Ranked Choice Voting which allowed for Murkowski to continue het Democratic(even tho she claims to be Republican) and Democrat Peltola to arruve in Washington. Hopefully, 2024 will change that, unless we don’t get rid of RCV, then we are doomed!

If the Republicans do not hold the line on the budget to accomplish the points raised in this article, I no longer can vote in good conscience for the GOP. Controlling the purse is the only real power our conservative Congressmen have, and they must exercise it.
Congress is supposed to write the laws, not independent agencies nor Presidential Executive Orders. Independent agencies are the deep state and rules and regulations written by them deny voters representation. Example the policy setting CAFE standards for cars and pushing all electric cars by 2032 was written by a Biden appointee who has not been confirmed by the Senate. Why haven’t Republicans pounced on this? Going all electric in America’s best interest and many Americans cannot afford electric cars!
Republicans were going to defund the 87K new IRS agents. Did they? All the independent agencies that have gone off the reservation should be defunded!
The GOP House has done a good job of illuminating Joe Biden’s corruption and treasons, but he is still President. They have done a good job of identifying the problems at the border and the corruption of the Justice Department and intelligence community and attempts to muzzle our freedom of speech. But the border is still wide open, and the enemies of freedom are not punished!
I receive so many requests for money from Republican candidates and conservative organizations. If I sent each one a dollar there would be nothing left of the SSN check, I live on.
I have counted the Bill of Rights as the only true wealth I have enjoyed in my long lifetime. But these freedoms are not supposed to require me to send money to preserve my freedoms under the Bill of Rights. They are my rights!

I am a right-leaning Independent, so here are my two cents. Please do not take it as a personal insult, I am just here to share my opinions AND my observations.

First my opinion is that Trump is bad for the GOP. That is my observation too. I voted for him in 2020 but can’t do it again – ever. It has been my observation that most people I know won’t vote for him either. GOP needs to move away from Trump. The more they support him, the more they will lose credibility in the eyes of Independents. GOP needs to come up with some sensible, moderate Candidates to win.

Second, because we have spend too much money on our overseas adventures with NOTHING to show for it, it has been my observation that more and more People think that instead of the money being blown overseas it would better be invested in infrastructure and healthcare and education here in the US. Sure, the efficiency of that may be low, but more and more people prefer that path rather than to shrink the scope of the Govt. People want the FREE healthcare and education like they have in Europe.

So, in my opinion, GOP needs to do the following: 1) Nominate decent people without scandals and political bravado. Sensible, moderate people. 2) Give in – at least a little bit – to the demands of the People. Give some free benefits in healthcare and education while – as a compromise – making sure that money is spent efficiently. GOP needs to learn to listen to the People otherwise they will end up as an ever-shrinking minority.
