The Association of Mature American Citizens is calling on Congress to swiftly take up and pass President Donald Trump’s supplemental funding request, which will unlock critical resources for national security, along with providing more than $10 billion in support for American farmers.
The supplemental request, transmitted to Congress on June 24, seeks $87.6 billion in funding to address urgent defense, homeland security, diplomatic, agricultural, and public health needs. According to the administration, most of the request is tied to “urgent needs related to Operation Epic Fury,” (the ongoing military operations in Iran) while also supporting other priorities such as delivering relief to American farmers.
The request includes significant funding for the Department of War to cover operational costs, military personnel and readiness expenses, munitions procurement, classified programs, and efforts to strengthen the U.S. defense industrial base. The administration states that under President Trump’s leadership, the United States carried out a successful operation to “deter the threat of a nuclear armed Iranian regime” and “massively degrade the regime’s ability to project power in the region.”
The package also includes $768 million for the Department of Energy, primarily through the National Nuclear Security Administration, for Operation Epic Fury-related energy and nuclear security requirements. Additional funds would support State Department security needs, embassy security and maintenance, and U.S. Coast Guard operations in the Western Hemisphere.
Of particular importance to AMAC members and rural communities, the supplemental request includes $11.1 billion to support American agriculture. That total includes $10 billion in temporary economic assistance for row and specialty crops, along with $1.1 billion to help Florida agricultural producers recover from devastating winter storm losses.
“President Trump’s supplemental funding request recognizes that national security and economic security go hand in hand,” said AMAC CEO Rebecca Weber. “Congress should move quickly to support our troops, protect American interests abroad, and stand with the farmers who feed this country. AMAC urges lawmakers to put politics aside and pass this funding package without delay.”
The request also includes $1.4 billion to help respond to the Ebola outbreak in Central Africa, with the administration noting that the funds would help “ensure the virus does not reach U.S. shores.”
In transmitting the request, the administration urged Congress to act “as soon as possible,” emphasizing the importance of addressing these urgent national priorities.

I make over $220 an hour while working from home and looking after my two kids. I was hesitant at first, but when my friend, who earns more than $35,000 a month, encouraged me to try it, I went for it. It’s been amazing! I have more time and money than I ever thought possible. Want to see how?
