AMAC Action Urges Senate to Tackle Rising Healthcare Costs with Real Reform
As part of our continued advocacy on behalf of members, AMAC Action recently warned the Senate Finance Committee that healthcare costs under the Affordable Care Act are becoming increasingly unsustainable. In a detailed comment, AMAC Action Senior Vice President Andy Mangione outlined how the law’s structural flaws continue pushing premiums, deductibles, and out-of-pocket costs higher for ordinary Americans. He highlighted growing rate hikes, industry consolidation, and mounting regulatory burdens that leave families with coverage they often can’t afford to use.
AMAC Action will continue pressing Congress to get our country off the path to fully socialized medicine by enacting market reforms that increase competition in the marketplace and drive down prices for our members across the country.

Colonial America: Why Do Americans Speak English?
In the 5-minute video Colonial America: Why Do Americans Speak English?, author Thomas Kidd explains how timing, geography, and a heritage of individual freedom enabled the English to triumph over rival empires in North America. The result explains not only why Americans speak English today, but how the foundations of a free society were laid long before independence. Location of the Week: Scotts Bluff National Monument
Scottsbluff, Nebraska, and the nearby Scotts Bluff National Monument stand as enduring symbols of the American West and the great overland migrations of the 19th century. The bluffs rise dramatically from the prairie along the North Platte River, making them one of the most recognizable natural landmarks on the historic Oregon, California, and Mormon Trails. Native American cultures lived and hunted in the region, and eventually, the bluff became a guidepost for fur traders and explorers; it was named for Hiram Scott, a fur trader who died near the formation in 1828.
As migration to the West accelerated in the 1840s, Scotts Bluff gained widespread importance as an orienting feature for emigrants heading toward fertile lands and new opportunities. Pioneers initially detoured south through Robidoux Pass to navigate around the bluff, but around 1850, a more direct route through Mitchell Pass closer to the North Platte River became the preferred path, shortening the journey and keeping wagons near vital water sources. Overland migration at this time was truly monumental: hundreds of thousands of settlers, gold-seekers, and Mormon pioneers passed through the North Platte Valley, relying on landmarks like Scotts Bluff to guide them across the plains toward Oregon, California, and the Salt Lake region.
Permanent settlement in the Scottsbluff area occurred after the peak use of the trail was past. In the late 19th century, cattlemen and homesteaders began establishing ranches and farms along the river, and communities sprang up as railroads expanded into the valley. The town of Scottsbluff was laid out in 1899 with the arrival of the Burlington Railroad, which brought new economic opportunity and steady growth to the region. Meanwhile, recognition of the historical significance of the trail corridors and the bluffs themselves led to the establishment of Scotts Bluff National Monument in 1919, preserving the landscape and heritage of the westward expansion. Today, the monument protects trail remnants, interpretive exhibits, and the dramatic bluffs that greeted generations of travelers on their journey to forge new lives in the American West.

Quote of the Week
“Our faith teaches that there is no safer reliance than upon the God of our fathers who has so singularly favored the American people in every national trial and who will not forsake us so long as we obey His commandments and walk humbly in His footsteps.”
– William McKinley

Health Care Reform is needed since Obamacare has failed resulting in much graftI do not believe the Republicans will offer any solutions. The Republican Party seldom takes the lead on anything and always lets the Democratic Party make the major decisions on policy. Republicans lack the backbone and the desire to work together to solve the health care issue or any issue. Donald Trump had provided leadership for the Republicans but there are many in the Republican Party which fail to offer solutions and are opposed to Donald Trump. Liz Chaney put innocent Americans in jail because she hated Donald Trump. Mitt Romney is a disgrace not providing support in many policy areas and has called Tulsi Gabbard a traitor with a smear campaign. Mitch McConnell has not been helpful in solving the issues the country needs. There are several other Republicans who oppose a unified policy front and seldom work with Donald Trump. The Democratic Party always marches in unison and that has created policies that have hurt this country. The Republican Party likes to follow and will not be a force to solve many of the issues facing this country.
I contacted my Senators and Representative via email and asked them which one of their 18 enumerated powers gave them the right to fund obamacare. I have yet to receive and answer.
