You’ve spent decades building your family’s future through hard work and commitment. Life insurance is one of the most powerful ways to protect what you’ve built and provide for the people you love; yet many Americans either don’t have coverage or have the wrong type for their stage of life.

This Life Insurance Awareness Month, it’s the perfect time to ask: Are you truly covered?

Why Life Insurance Matters at Every Age

Life insurance isn’t just for young families. It plays a critical role in every life stage from protecting income early on to funding legacy plans later in life.

Ages 30–50: Protecting Your Family’s Future

  • Focus on income replacement to cover mortgage, children’s education, and household expenses
  • Term life insurance is often ideal for its affordable, high coverage amounts
  • Can be converted to permanent coverage as needs grow

Ages 50–65: Securing Retirement & Legacy

  • Children may be grown, but financial obligations and debt may still exist
  • Consider permanent life insurance (whole life or indexed universal life) for cash value growth and lifetime coverage
  • Can serve as tax-advantaged supplemental retirement income

Ages 65+: Preserving Wealth for Your Heirs

  • Focus shifts from income replacement to wealth transfer and estate planning
  • Guaranteed universal life or single-premium whole life can create a tax-free legacy for children, grandchildren, or charity
  • Helps cover final expenses, taxes, and probate costs

The Foundation of a Strong Estate Plan

Life insurance offers:

  • Tax-free death benefit for beneficiaries
  • Liquidity to pay estate taxes, debts, and final expenses
  • Protection from market downturns
  • Control over how and when wealth is distributed (through trusts)

Whether you’re just beginning to plan or reviewing decades of coverage, a professional review ensures your plan aligns with your current goals.

We have no debt – houses are paid for, cars are paid for, no credit card debt, kids are raised and college paid. We have an emergency fund, vacation fund, Christmas fund, and a huge IRA. If I prepay my funeral expenses, why do I need life insurance?
