The part about ” The Founding Fathers knew in their time, and intentionally secured for our time one truth – A moral society flows from a focus on freely held faith and attention to one’s conscience . Such a society creates character , people who care about one another.” That is a great thought – that is great writing ! Well done with this article Robert. The American’s Creed written by William Tyler Page ,clerk of the U.S. House of Representatives in 1917. It was developed from quotes from several documents and speeches, – I have a copy of it in a 1959 Scout Handbook , sixth edition. On pages 398 and 399. The sources are listed for line in the Creed. Although the word Faith is not used in this Creed it certainly does not conflict with Faith in any way – in fact I do believe it complements everything that Faith is all about. “The American’s Creed – I believe in the United States of America as a government of the people , for the people, by the people ; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed ; a democracy in a republic ; a sovereign nation of many sovereign States ; a perfect union , one and inseparable ; established upon those principles of freedom , equality, justice and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes ; I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it ; to support it’s constitution; to obey it’s laws ; to respect it’s flag ; and to defend it against all enemies”. In the spirit of respect for Faith ,Family and Freedom .
I believe the article “Our Founders Faith in Faith” misses the mark. It’s their faith in God! Faith in faith is empty faith. When God’s people return to Faith In Our Lord they will experience the blessings he intended for their land as stated in Deuteronomy 28:3-13. This is my prayer.
