money-wallet income money tax cuts Trump basic universalEven with a lifetime of savings, it never hurts to save a few dollars where you can. Here are some savvy tips to save money!

Go with Cash- At most gas stations, we all know there may be a huge difference in the price per gallon in using a credit or debit card versus cash. Yet, cash can save you money also in debit card charges at some restaurants. Also, opting for cash has proven to save people money, as they will only spend for the amount they have on-hand. Seeing money also makes it more concrete in ones’ mind that a transaction has occurred.

Use Coupons and Deals- Nowadays, coupons can be found all over the internet. Apps such as Yelp and Groupon offer discounts for a plethora of local services. Often times, larger companies will put manufacturers coupons online as well, allowing you to buy name-brand for little or no cost. Although coupon clipping may take time, a quick search may yield high returns!

Buy Only What You Need- Buying only the items you need is more simply said than done. Stores have been manufactured to draw you in to last-minute splurges, even at the register. Coming into a store with a list or a limited amount of time can stop you from overspending. Also, in the case of food, buying less can reduce food waste, and in turn, the weight of the garbage.

Look for Freebies- Online there are many free offers ranging from potato chips to hair care products. Many companies offer free samples for promotional events for nothing in return. Although some companies have a 2-3 week wait time for products, they can be directly mailed to your home, at no cost to you.

Join Free Rewards Programs- Many companies offer free rewards programs that give points per each purchase. This could mean a free cup of java, a lipstick, or insider promotions and awards! Also, most of these programs allow you to unsubscribe from weekly emails but still be a part of the program if desired.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle- Recycling in some states can earn cash per recycled metal or plastic. A newer way to recycle has been upcycling. Upcycling, which takes a common household object and repurposes it, is a new and trendy way to put new life into not-so-new objects. Also, the upcycle project can include things you currently own or thrifted items. Upcycling can let you reduce and reuse all-in-one!

Get Outside- Communities offer many ways that are free to stay active. Making use of walking trails, local parks, and outdoor facilities might help save money on air conditioning and improve health. Looking for local trails, parks or outdoor activities may break up the day and can become a group activity too!
