The truth is that the Strait of Hormuz is actually more important for European energy than for American energy. The influx of radical Islamic migration into European nations has blinded NATO nations into becoming paranoid to poke the bear and actually join in on the fight to secure a vital Iranian shipping lane for Europe, more than for us.
NATO’s ideologically driven, almost naive stance toward Iran (and Russia and China for that matter as well), and the refusal to secure oil and gas tankers jointly with the United States under European military escort through the Strait of Hormuz – carries the potential for an economic catastrophe, particularly for Europe. Fifty-seven percent of its energy is imported, while the United States remains largely energy self-sufficient.
And with Iran sending drone attacks etc. to neighboring nations, this has, and will incite those countries to attack evil Iran and join the effort in seeing that the current regime is completely decimated, which will free up the Hormuz shipping lanes.
This joint attack with Israel on Iran is clearly justified. Those who disagree must actually welcome continued attacks on Americans (military in particular) and eventual nuclear attacks to reach our soil. Fighting to protect America comes with some pain and inconvenience for all who love this country. If that means increased prices at the pump, so be it. Those increases are, and will be temporary…nuclear annihilation of America would be permanent.
“But the Lord is faithful. He will strengthen you. He will guard you from the evil one.” 2 Thessalonians 3:3
Eliminating Iran’s hierarchy is imperative for any chance of peace in the Middle East. Allowing these scumbags to dictate their crazy ideas on the world is dangerous and wrong. The leaders of Iran care nothing for humanity, especially their own citizens. Gas prices obviously are a major concern in the U.S. and will inconvenience many average families in the U.S. but to let Iran continue with their policies are more dangerous. Trump is doing what make sense for a peaceful world. Keep the faith and let this payout.
We don’t have allies anymore. NATO is a one way street IMHO none of them would come to our aid if we were attacked. They are to dependent on Russian oils and gas to be bothered without getting into a fight with them.
moat of them have let so many third world refugees that they don not resemble Europe anymore.
At least President Trump is doing something about that very problem. None of them have the will power to do that very same thing.
We produce enough oil here at home. We don’t need the Strait of Hormuz. Let Europe figure that out. They need that oil, and will do NOTHING to protect its flow. Why should we? Oh! And withdrawing from NATO and the UN will save us over $1T per year.
The US got Europe out of 2 world wars. Where are they now when we could use some help in the strait of Hormuz. Get us out of NATO and the UN
F Iran….47 years of hell they put on the WORLD.
Redemption time has been long over due.
Make sure Iran has ZERO control as long as they have the current regime.
IRAN has been a pariah and the source of worldwide terror. The world must ensure it is a pariah no longer or ever again. The strait must be policed in particular by the worldwide customers
Now that we’re there, we need to finish the job, neuter Iran, and ensure the free flow of commerce through the Strait. Let’s not make this a long entanglement.
Sad truth is if Trump doesn’t get a regime change to democrat republic that wants western ideology….its all for naught.
This is our best chance to kill Iran regime and world terrorism they create
My option is control the Strait until Iran regime gives up and dies.
UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER!
Otherwise the Iran Islamic and their proxy terror continues forever. And the world suffers.
Trump needs to KILL IRAN once and for all!
Leave NATO. They are not our allies.
This high energy prices is nothing more than Greed. Especially when it comes to our prices here in the USA. They should pause the future markets so that they don’t keep running the price of energy up and up, therefore allowing prices to become more stable. We also have the capacity to increase our production beyond what our current production levels are. Also Venezuela could increase their production as well as independent producers to keep the prices more stable and during this period the USA as well as other countries could suspend taxes/duties and the States could suspend their road taxes also. This will be short lived.
Everyone needs to stop griping and chip in to make things stabilize. In this situation you are “ part of the problem or you’re part of the solution there is no in between.” And these Damn Bias Networks/Papers/Pod casting need to be part of that also or suspend their license to operate for NOT covering this skirmish
Fairly. Too much hype and incorrect reporting as to make this administration looked incompetent.
WHERE ARE “ We the People”??? In difficult times sacrifices have to be made. We have grown into a society of convenience and not ever having to wait for anything and so spoiled. I’m an old man I remember gas lines in the 70s. I’d rather not go back to that time either, but there are necessary steps that need to be considered and or taken.
This situation stresses the need for American energy independence and how very important it really is. I also believe that U.S. markets are over reacting to this, as they usually do. But does anyone remember what Biden did in the first few hours of him becoming president? He vetoed the Keystone Pipeline, which immediately cost us about 900,000 barrels of oil per day and within a few months gas was over 5 bucks in many places. Do you think that might have made a difference now? But now with the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, which represents maybe 25 percent of the world’s oil supply, gas is approaching 4 dollars or more in many areas and people everywhere immediately blame Trump. Be that as it may, people have short memories and it is all about perception. The price of oil right now is effecting everything, no matter what the reason is, and that is what people see. And with the midterms 7 months away, this situation has to be dealt with right now. And while we are at it, let’s pass the Save Act. The future of the country depends on both of these.
Iran should have been dealt with years ago. Instead they have been largely left to build their Nuclear stock pile, with the help of the Obama Administration which gave them frozen assets. They have been mass murderers for way too long, including slaughtering their own people along with anyone else they choose to. Why wait until they build their arms stockpile and their military to attack the US and anyone else they feel like. Hope they can be neutralized quickly.
The mullahs have attacked all of their “brotherly” neighbors so WHY aren’t THEY offering their troops to go in and clean out the IRGC? WE do not need the oil passing through the Strait–it seems that those who do should be putting some skin in the game! Also, China has been propping up the mullahs yet needs their oil. How about Xi sending word to the IRGC to defect to China so their flow of oil from Iran can continue? Hopefully, Israeli and US secret forces are working to arm the normal Persian citizens!
The USA is energy independent. In fact the USA exports energy so why are our gas prices going up with the strait of Hormuz situation?
“Work with allies” HA! What a joke. We have no allies, and with our media being what it is, we have no friends at home. The only exception is Israel who is also unjustly hated. We have come to a point where nobody is interested in justice, and we have to go it alone.
Let us not forget the gas prices when Joe Biden was President and how he let millions of Illegals into this Country including know Terrorists. Give Iran the Terror that they gave the World for 47 years. Pay back is a Bitch!!
Since we really don’t seem to have any real allies from NATO or other countries unless Trump forces the issue I say we leave it up to the Europeans to handle. President Trump took all the risk to finally rid the world of this evil regime with only the help from Israel. We have enough of our own oil, let them deal with it if they want the oil.
One of the most extremely delusional public statements I have heard, and there are many, came from Joe Kent, when he said “Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation”. That was so hysterically inaccurate that it utterly reinforced my commitment to my already deeply held conservative perspective. It ranks right up there with Ketanji Jackson’s, “I am not a biologist.” When people who hold high office are being exposed as agents of an alternate universe, those of us who have managed to avoid drinking the Kool Aid must accept the fact that this enemy is more deeply embedded than a simple ad campaign or community meeting can address.
Just consider the existence of Gavin Newsome, Tim Walz, Zohran Mamdani, Abigail Spanberger, Jay Pritzker, Michelle Wu and Maura Healy, and others who are running our state governments. The look at the House and Senate. The Democrat Party is at war with the Republican principles laid out in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. They’re not even hiding it anymore. They’re no longer pretending to “tow the line”.
I don’t advocate any radical methods of disruption, but I do resoundingly endorse the idea that powerful advocates of the common sense, who have a deep understanding of the nature of the current dilemma, band together and use our system of government to spotlight those who will do this country harm and move them to positions that do not threaten our structural integrity.
In simple words, we need to get our ship together and scream louder, work harder, become more integrated in our thought and deeds. I live in Virginia, and saw Spanberger coming from miles away. She slithered like a snake and lied like a snake-oil salesman. Then I watched her and her cronies get elected, and now I’m watching ads on NBC for this INSANE “Fairness in Elections” scam, and I hear NOTHING from the Virginia Republicans in opposition, except for a few good people on the internet.
What’s wrong with this picture?
We MUST find the enriched uranium.
My first inclination was to work with our allies to secure the region; however, I think we should definitely be more self-sufficient regarding our energy resources.
the straits are important to us for lowering the global oil price. as we get Venezuela oil infrastructure updated, we will have sweet crude in our own backyard. the mid-east stronghold on oil will not be as consequential as rather than global pricing, oil may be more affected by regional pricing. the oil we produce is sold as we apparently don’t have the refineries for that type of oil. maybe we should look into building some. the key thing we need to remember is to be patient. our various energy programs are still to a large degree in their infancy. the Alaskan oil is just starting to come on line again, Venezuela has been forced into USA compliance, some of the threat of nuclear war is diminished and more countries, such as Japan, are making the USA their major oil supplier. And the truth is that with all these “outrages” gas prices, here in Florida, I am still paying less per gallon than under Obama, and we have seen a huge increase in inflation, thanks in no small part to Biden, since those days. PATIENCE
We must take out this satanic régime. They have been a thorn in the side of many since 79. God please bless our troops and their families.
Yes we have the ability to be energy independent with our own oil production. Problem is with the real dictator governor of California killing the oil industry that affects his state along with Arizona and Nevada. Then you throw in the problem with the governor of Washington that is trying to out do California with high gas taxes now. All three west coast states are a liberal mess.
The correct answer is to let Trump decide how to handle it. Energy is a world wide market so, while energy independence helps, it will not completely protect us from higher prices.
Today’s poll question is based upon a bad premise, and so does not deserve a response.
The status of the Strait of Hormuz is only one aspect of defending these United States against nuclear ICBM attack from Iran. What I’ve heard on the news is that Iran has been attacking many of its’ neighbors with missiles and drones. That is what they have been promising to do for decades now, if anyone dared to attack Iran. Their terrorist proxies are supporting them too.
Our military would have taken all of that into account when planning this current operation, the primary objective of which is to permanently end the nuclear threats by the Iranian “twelver” Mullahs by freeing Persia from their dictatorship. Keeping the Strait of Hormuz open is part of the plan, but only a secondary consideration.
To break the status of the Strait away from the main issue is to undermine the war effort by using semantics. It’s like advocating changing a flat tire without stopping the car.
God Bless Chuck Norris
It’s long past the time when our so-called “allies” (e.g. NATO, et al), should step up and do their part. For far too long, the United States (e.g. the American military and the American Citizen Taxpayers) have made the sacrifices necessary to ensure they have an easy path and, meanwhile, these so-called “allies” have taken every advantage open to them to harm the US economy and its Citizens.
I’m not real comfortable with the “at all cost” language in the poll. We have to finish what we started, which is to end the stranglehold this radical Iranian regime has had on the world for 47 years. Their ability to constrict shipping in the Strait should be eliminated once and for all. We don’t know what the people in Iran are going to do about their leadership and if we stop or stall our efforts now, whether because we are lacking cooperation with the NATO countries or not, we will have accomplished nothing in the long run. We’ll be right back where we started in a few years.
We can’t count on who the next leaders of our country are going to be and we could end up with another Obama-era government that’s willing to put us at risk by undoing all that Trump has done.
I think we have to continue as we are, eliminating the threat at our own cost, and refuse to help the uncooperative countries when they need us, especially economically. Let them pay the high prices for oil that they’re experiencing along with all the other pain that goes with it. They are not showing any loyalty to us.
Perhaps it’s time to form new alliances and reduce our support in NATO so Europe will feel the need to start taking responsibility for themselves.
In the meantime, it seems that we have to be committed to the cause of making the world safer from radical, suicidal, terrorist regimes that pose a real threat to the homeland, even if it’s all on our own.
Get the lazy, scared Nato countries to pony up and include Japan, India and possibly China. They all buy middle east oil.
Not sure I understand who we are worried about in the Strait of Hormuz if the Iranian Navy is at the bottom of the sea. Also, why are gas prices so high over here if we are energy independent and an exporter of oil. Doesn’t make any sense. However, we must do whatever it takes to annihilate Iran.
47years of Jimmy Carter policy ends… Never again !!
According to a report published in the Washington Examiner, the U.S. acquires the least oil supply of any nation from that region (~2%). Enhance and increase (avoid consuming reserves) resources on our own territory, ensure a reliable and steady supply for us and our true allies and let the other dependent nations determine actions necessary to maintain their supply streams. China gets 50% of its fossil fuel supplies from that region—at a discount. Perhaps they will resell some of theirs to European countries, which seem no longer cognizant of which direction their loyalties and affections lie.
Some really good comments from other readers on this site about this topic. Very refreshing to note how many people are engaged in monitoring, following and participating in current event conversations. Yahoo should take its censorship clues from AMAC.
If the US doesn’t take the lead in securing the Strait, no other country will. The current regime must be replaced with a moderate elected government or all of this will be for naught.
As a strong advocate for American energy independence I was tempted to select that option. But world stability makes the straights critical, so requiring allies to contribute is opening and securing Hormuz makes the most sense.
Unfortunately it seems no one in Europe has the sense to understand how much they depend on the Strait. They’re asleep at the wheel, & without President Trump, Israel, & our allies in the Middle East’s efforts, Europe will wake up to find themselves in a horrible situation wondering what happened – far too late to gain back what they lost. Yes, I too want world peace, but I’m unwilling to blindly embrace the values of evil regimes to achieve a one sided version of peace.
As far as action in the Strait of Hormuz goes, the US and allies must force the Strait open to permit the free flow of oil from oil states north of Hormuz. If the allies aren’t willing to help open Hormuz, then we should do it on our own, then decide on the consequences of those allies lack of action later. Whatever happens, now that operations have started against Iran, we can’t stop until regime change in Iran. Anything less is a win for the mullahs and Iran will quickly devolve back to where they’ve been since the Iranian Revolution. Or worse.
Force the occupied State of California to to restore pumping oil from both inland and coast.
It is time that America showed true leadership. The world is now so interdependent that what we do affects everyone else. Let’s own that. Lets own the Straights. Lets put a stop to radical third world counties taking energy hostage creating insecurity among developed nations. Lets sell the oil ourselves until the cost of this war has been repaid then cut in the Iranians if they have a new government.
And about that – MacArthur handed the post war government in Japan a copy of our Constitution and said “Start with this.” Japan hasn’t fared to badly since.
The unhindered flow of energy world-wide is in America’s best interest. Sure, we should to get a broad base of support in keeping the Strait open, but be prepared to go it alone if necessary for awhile. However, we need to make sure other nations refusing to help aware of potential consequences they may face as a result.
Must boost oil & product trade in Hormuz resume Unimpeded from Iran
In 1979 I was going to school at an engineering college. The college entertained many older male students from the Middle East, over half being from Iran. After the government of the Shah collapsed these students were without a country. If they returned they would be taken from the airport directly to prison. If they disparaged the Islamic Republic there would be fatwa issued against the family still in Iran. These students were totally screwed. That was when I discovered that if there was such a place as Hell on Earth, I had to look no further than the Islamic Republic of Iran (no offense Cambodian regime of Pol Pot)…
First complete the destruction of the Iranian theocratic-fascist regime while putting our efforts to drill baby drill and build new domestic & regional refineries on hyper-drive. I’m not confident in France, Germany and the UK to do much or be effective at keeping the Strait open so we need to progress to US energy dominance to mitigate commodity fluctuations. Shift the dynamic from NATO/Euro dependence on Middle Eastern energy to western hemisphere (especially US) reliance.
Our foreign policy focus for the next several decades & particularly the next 36 months is China and we need to strengthen our economy, military and society to be prepared for them to continue to challenge us. Codify the Trump Doctrine so that the next time the Communist Demo-crap come to power (May God Help Us, btw) then we can at least be in a position NOT to spend the first 5 years of a Sino-US conflict filling body bags with our service members because DEI becomes ‘our strength’ (WTFO) and instead serve to give the CCP a moment of pause should they feel strong.
NATO & the UN are totally worthless but we can exert influence by being active in the organizations but on the periphery. Again, the French/Germans/UK can’t effectively deal with any crises in their continent so our focus needs to turn to our Reoublic’s needs.
We’re in it so finish it. Degrade the military as much as possible. Enable the citizens to take over the government possibly with the help of regional powers stabilize the country. Get out of there asap. Hormuz is a EU and other regional actors problem. Focus on our energy independence and regional security.
I’m team Trump all the way. If we have a way to insure victory — let’s go. THEN we need to “help” wth our allies to keep Harmuz and middle east from hostiles.
Foreign oil is not that important to the US except in the Stock Market. Then it is important because we – the US – import so much product from other countries that rely on that oil to get their product to market and/or to the US. The rest of the world that NEEDs that oil needs to protect the passage. They also need to come up with a different way to transport their oil (like Saudi Arabia did with their pipeline that totally bypasses the straights.).
Personally, the atrocities performed in Iran in the name of religion – against its own populace AND all others! – almost warrants making them a world parking lot. I say almost because there are those in Iran that don’t support this regime and those atrocities. To them I say RISE UP! Take your country back and welcome back to the world.
Could be multiple answers to this survey. Working with other countries that also depend on energy sources from other nations is a priority. Why should the US be the only country taking all the risks and spending tax payers dollars for the other freeloading countries, (see NATO). The other way to deregulate and allow the US to drill baby drill. Before more energy independent. We have more oil and natural gas available to us and we shouldn’t see significant increases in gas prices like we’re seeing across the country as a result of this conflict.
