Remember when the “3 Rs” (Reading, ‘Riting, and ‘Rithmatic) were the basics of educating our young children. Tragically, our education system today centers on the “3 H’s”—Hate, Hypocrisy, and Hysteria!
Despite the fact that the Dept. of Education (DOE) having spent more than $3 trillion since Jimmy created this mess in 1979, the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) reveals that only 31% of eighth-graders were proficient in reading, and only 27% were proficient in math. Another bureaucratic black hole where our tax dollars vanish with nothing to show for them.
Many things have contributed to the absolute failure of our educational system; here are a few:
· Removing God & prayer from classrooms
· Having too many layers of bureaucracy “manage” education of our children – federal, state, & local departments and boards
· A lack of parental involvement with student’s learning both at home, in the classrooms, and at local school board meetings
· Teachers’ Unions have ruined everything, and is one place where the majority of tax dollars go…just ask Dandy Randi
· Doing away with teaching Phonics for learning how to read!
· Doing away with teaching Civics for learning how our republic government works
· The disastrous shut down of schools because of the China virus
· Introducing Common Core – a “one size fits all” approach, requiring teachers to “teach to the test” – now you see how failing students advance to the next grade
· Introducing Critical Race Theory (CRT) to re-write history with lies and propaganda
· Grooming children with ludicrous gender studies and other smut into the curriculum
· Hiding these heinous activities from parents, in violation the 1974 Family Educational Rights Privacy Act
This downfall and Marxist influence into our education system began early in the twentieth century, and has slowly had the curtain pulled back on the horrific truth of the damage it has done. It has been a slow drip, drip, drip of its influence, but now is the time to act.
It is good to take down the DEA at the federal level and give control to the states – however with a warning. Do you really think blue states will be any less corrupt and dangerous? A newly proposed bill in Illinois called the “Homeschool Act” requiring home-schooling & private school parents to register their intent to go the home-school or private school route with local education authorities, and comply with other requirements. Failure to do so could land parents in jail.
Solution to the potential for blue-state/city madness regarding education is to get involved in your communities. If removing your child from public mis-education isn’t an option, then at least attend school board meetings and elect common sense, conservative people to sit on these boards etc. Finally, Trump’s EO’s need to be codified by Congress…time to actually legislate! (like passing the Educational Choice for Children Act)
“Bring up a child by teaching him the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn away from it.” Proverbs 22:6
I have 2 relatives who are high-school teachers and they are completely frustrated with the educational agenda that they have to teach in California. Both have been in the system for 20 years and they share the crap with the family that they have to teach. Basic English, math and history have been destroyed and they have to push through kids to graduate who are not qualified to make way for the next group of kids who are not qualified. Most of my family home school their kids and thisxway they can manage what the kids are learning. Just another example of the Democrats caring nothing for thr Americn people. Keep the changes coming Mr. Trump and ank you for caring about cleaning up this mess and so many others in this country.
I’m 77 and being a senior and on medicare and social security, i’m SO VERY GRATEFUL MUSK & TRUMP are getting the fraud out of the govt. spending. Seniors; with eliminating fraud from just those 2 keeps us much safer for future payments. Think clearly and don’t allow the democrats and left wing media to destroy you’re sanity with their lies.
This one is a big yes! Control over schools needs to handled at the local and state level without big government (and teacher’s unions) controlling everything.
The department of education never educated anyone and is useless unless you are in a teachers union
Should have been done a long time ago
Every single federal agency should be evaluated to determine whether they meet their goals and objectives. Those who don’t should be dismantled. That should be a lot of federal agencies.
I taught for 27 years until I retired, 15 before the Dept of Education was instituted. The only change I saw was more federal rules & regulations by people who had never stepped inside a classroom and knew nothing about education. The quality of the U S’s education has been declining ever since.
the doe was set up to promote the communist agenda in America and from this we have had more liberals (communist education) destroying america
Jimmy Carter created the DOE with an executive order and since than our education system has gone downhill.
Congress make it permanent. States now must offer school choice. These are the next two vital steps.
I wholeheartedly support this and without any reservations whatsoever. This agency should never have been created to begin with. Good riddance!
There are 11 million federal, state, and local employees in education in the US. Only 4.3 million of those are teachers. More than half are “administrators”, providing no direct services to our children.
They write rules and regulations… create reports, and apply for federal grants.
They actually consume precious tax dollars which should be going to our schools.
I’m with Trump & Elon. DOGE the Department of Education. DOGE DOE!
It’s a no-brainer; after funneling trillion dollars into the DOE since its inception, we have ruined the education system in this country. It was simply created to help unions, not to advance the education of our kids.
I am a biology professor (still in the classroom) for 37 years. The academic level of students entering the college classroom is abysmal. Not, to be misunderstood – there are some outstanding students. Nevertheless, the number of remedial math and english courses offered is embarrassing. Most first year students are not prepared to do real college level work. That’s why colleges have lower their standards for grading, with students graduating with higher GPA’s but knowing less.
Lack of “basic” knowledge in the areas of math, english, science, history, the humanities, etc. makes one wonder about the enormous amount of money taxpayers pour into their local school districts.
Though I hate to say this, a truth is a truth. 90% of the students would fail out of college if they were held to the same standard that my colleagues and I were held to in the 1960’s and 1970’s when rigor was the norm.
Just my opinion. Glad to see the DOE go.
The Federal DOE has become obsessed with turning the 99.9% into the .1% – meaning – rather than equipping teachers to help the .1% – the goal is to lower the standards for everyone. If there’s a social issue that affects the .01% – then the 99.9% have to conform to accommodate the feelings of the .01% – it’s exhausting, degrading & does far more harm than good. The result is people incapable of making decisions on their own, unable to function unless everyone else plays into their delusions – unable to read, write, preform basic math…. But champions of victimhood.
I graduated from college in 1978 with a BA in elementary education. There was no DOE then. We didn’t need it then and we don’t need it now.
There is an old saying. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” Well, the education system in America is BROKEN. Tear it down and start over.
I’ve said it decades; kids are taught WHAT to think, not HOW to think & many schools ignore the basics [as a former employer it was sad to see how may college grads could not spell or seem to have world knowledge such as who fought our Civil War]
Destroying children is part of the communist manifesto. And politicians love to destroy things.
Yesterday and friend of mine was telling me why she recently left teaching. There were many reasons, with the dumbing down of children being the number one. Within the confines of the teachers lounge, the school has provided a litter box for “furries” to poop and pee in. Afterwards, staff cleans up. She shared that there had been a 4 year old child at her daughters school, who was being encouraged by elementary school staff to dress in boys clothes once the child got to school and away from their parents. Teachers and principal had even purchased the clothing. At 4 her daughter was coming home asking if she could date her female best friend. As someone who works with sexual assault survivors, this all screams deviation, and over-sexualization of children. It really encourages vulnerability to being victimized.
The students are being crippled by anti God policies. There are many sincere teachers, yet administration policies cripple their efforts to teach the students exactly what they need to know. Go back to the basics in math, stop sex education, and return to the Bible as a textbook.
Now we have to pray that the States have their priorities in order, and that they do what they can with what they have, instead of whining over the loss of federal funding or using that as an excuse to add to our tax burden.
The Department of Education is completely UNCONSTITUTIONAL. Education was not one of the enumerated powers of the federal government mentioned in the Constitution.
“Our children are being used as social experiments to promote dangerous ideologies by radicals, zealots, and Marxists. The federal DOE is a proven failure.”
I don’t need the commentary here on my choice. It belongs to the states. It’s that easy. I don’t care about whether or not it’s run by zealots, Marxists, etc. Just make the choice a simple “Yes” and let me share my own opinion.
It’s a waste of money. Give it to the states. Let them determine their own system. If I had my way, New Jersey, where I am from, would adopt the education system in Finland. I’d also develop aptitude tests, like they do in Germany, that separate the college-bound kids for those that would be better at a trade. The Germans create apprenticeship programs where kids start at 16 with on the job training. By the time they graduate, they have a FT job waiting for them with a nice starting salary. I’d say we adopt that here in the US but we don’t make anything anymore.
It’s about time!
The next logical step is to ban teachers unions. And for crying out loud teach those little minds full of mush some history and civics!
While I strongly support getting the federal government out of the “education business” I do have some concerns that too many liberals will still hijack the states’ education systems and still corrupt our children. Each state needs to make sure those leftist socialist communists are unable to control the curriculum and teachers in the schools. Maybe the teachers’ union needs to be abolished, or at least cleansed of the radicals currently controlling it. It will take some time before we really start to see any positive turn around because the leftists have been poisoning our children for so long.
The DOE is a tool of the globalists to dumb down our people, good riddance to them!!!
As a former federal employee ( don’t call them workers) I know first hand of a lot of do nothing individuals. Federal employment is just another form of welfare.
I agree with the first choice but not basing it solely on the social experiment part. Never understood the sense in having states pay taxes to the federal government, who skims off the top to pay beauracrat salaries for no value added so they can return a much smaller amount back to the states. We should get rid of every fed government agency like DOE that is doing nothing more than stealing money from the states and adding a worthless layer to a process better handled closer to home.
As a retired public school teacher, I fully support getting rid of the federal overreach in education. Teachers spend so much time trying to prove we are doing our jobs, there is no time to prepare great lessons and actually teach.
All you have to do is pay attention to when the DOE was started and when our education system went down the sewer. I remember it well. My children’s school system went from exemplary to garbage, seemingly overnight.
When you spend the most money per student and finish like almost dead last in how are students are performing its a no brainer that DOE needs to be shut down. I blamed the so called “ideaologists” for making these teachers teach the trash like it’s okay to change your sex, or it’s OK for boys to participate in girls sports and unisex restrooms. i.e. “Tampon Tim”. Think it’s high time that parents choose the schools that they want to send their children to and not be force fed public education if they choose.
I graduated before the DOE came into existence. Although I am no Einstein, I had a good education, was independent by 19 yrs old, and had a basic knowledge of everything needed to go on to college. The DOE is just a middleman that takes 10% of all federal grants for Admin to make rules and regulations on how to spend the grant funds.
Federal Department Of Education is one, among many in the federal bureaucracy that are more than bloated, they believe they are entitled to waste the taxpayers hard earned money and waste it on paid lawyers and union representation for them to resist accountability in front of Congress and the American public!
All of these bloated agencies need to be sliced down to bare minimum if they are useless lying to America instead of useful.
The Dept. of ED had benevolent beginnings, but as with every Federal department they are ripe for waste, fraud and abuse. DoE is a prime example, only overshadowed by USAID. As DOGE has shown us there is corruption and waste in all Government agencies. It will be a shame if States education standards suffer, but it couldn’t get much worse. It’s also a shame that we are burdened with 36 TRILLION dollars of debt and a negative return on our investment in education.
This is a Mount Rushmore moment to restructure the BOE. Create a national curriculum to teach students everything they need to live life independently. It would mean every school would teach the same lessons everywhere, so if you move from CA to FL the lessons are the same. If states were allowed to run education, there would not only be 50 variations of study, but there would be no federal oversight allowing CA, NY, IL and other blue states to teach CRT, gay and trans ideals. Take this moment to make history. Trump was the president that turned around American education.
I strongly support. Why? Because our 2 youngest daughters, the one is going to be 30 and the other will be 27 this year both finished their high schooling at home homeschooling and through their remaining years, not one time did either receive an America or World History textbook or a Civics textbook. What they received instead was British Literature textbooks and Amber went to Community College and Ashley elected not to go to college yet they both received British Lit over History. The Constitution clearly states that the States were solely meant to Govern themselves on every manner without interference from the Federal Government. In 1979 the Fed’s created the Department of Education to control what the younger generations will learn and not learn which is exactly what they accomplished. They dumb them down to yes people because they took away our History and World History and Civics which is why when you ask them about our Historic past they cannot answer. That is why they created the Department of Education and why it has to be dissolved.
Teachers who didn’t have the backbone & commense sense to openly oppose “wokeness, DEI, and hiding things from parents”…..well, I just don’t feel bad for them, even if there are eventual job losses as a result. How many children have been horribly affected and completely UNDEReducated as a result of teachers who kept quiet to keep their own job security and pensions ?? These children cannot get back their innocence and childhood joy and fun that they should have had. Many will never know what they missed, but as adults, we may see this generation and the results of failed basic education — poor skills in reading, writing, horrible abilities in ordinay math, and no understanding of how the world works on a simple scientific or economic level. They’re not required to excel …just participate and they get that “trophy”, but ask them next year and they’re clueless. Someday, the teachers union ( and anyone who thought the social experiment on children was a great idea)will face the failures of decisions they wrongfully made. I hope they are held accountable and have tremendous regret…although, in this horribly fallen world, I doubt that will happen. Only the Lord God Almighty will, at the end of time, be the Judge.
This is fantastic! The DOE has destroyed our public schools. Our children don’t know how to write in cursive it’s not being taught in school. Arithmetic has been changed so much that parents can’t help with homework. History is being distorted, my nephew’s wife is a 4th grade teacher, she refuses to teach the kids false history, so her & a few other teachers got together & are teaching real history. I’ve been teaching my grandchildren how to write in cursive & how to do long division. Maybe now the schools will do what they’re supposed to do, educate.
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over thinking the result will be different. The current school system is failing our children and has to undergo drastic changes. The sooner the better.
This is entitlement gone wild . Teachers are the most liberal aspect o employment ; three months off in the summer ; breaks during the school year ; holidays galore ; homeowners foot their lifestyle and or some they support private education.
I do not know any teacher excluding private education , who is humbled and motiated to say thank-you to the tax payer and do not work like the rest of Americans .
Education is part of the swamp in America.
Loooong overdue
Growing up in Hawaii, I used to be ashamed of dropping out of high school in my sophomore year. I was bored most of the time and got myself in trouble as a result. I took the GED test in 1974 and aced it – 100% so what does that say for the standards and curriculum? Structured education has always been difficult for me but inspite of that I have gone on to become a professional through the practical – hands on method. It was also difficult but I learned more about the profession I have made a career in as a result.
I am not knocking formal education at all, there also needs to be other ways for people like myself who struggle with it to succeed. The DOE wants a one size fits all method which has proven to be a utter and complete failure… I doubt it is even what Jimmy Carter had in mind. It has become the product of professional politicians and unions which support them.
Absolute power corrupt absolutely and that is the case for both the democrats and their corrupt systems of government. Is it any surprise the democrats and so many government employees are in an uproar… their crimes have been found out, the light of truth and fact is shining brightly into the waste, fraud, and abuse they have gotten away with for so long.
If you want to know if God hears and answers the sincere prayers of His children, look at what is going on with DOGE and, look at those who by default serve the darkness and their reaction. The darkness cannot overcome the light, it runs from it, it is angered by it. Choose this day who you will serve… the god of this world or the God of all creation.
In the history of the world, no, in the history of the UNIVERSE there has never been a more demonstrably failed agency than the U.S. Department of Education. It is beyond redemption and MUST be eliminated.
71% of the DOE’s budget is for colleges and universities – yet one still has to pay to go to them. Property taxes to fund local schools are going to force seniors out of their homes. The schools keep buying up land, and don’t improve the product. I personally learned a great deal in high school, things that just don’t seem important anymore. Basic math skills, speaking and writing our language properly, understanding of our government and history.
Dump the departments of energy, commerce and labor while they’re at it. They’ve all proven themselves to be complete wastes of time and tax payers money.
Teachers unions ALWAYS vote against school choice, so there is your best reason to vote FOR school choice!!
GREAT NEWS, hope it is successful to the end! NOW, we can get back to education, instead of indoctrination!!!
Just hope the lefties don’t move to the State level to continue their destruction of the USA educational system!
