I love thinking that is, “out of the box”. I am not sure that this thought is all that is cracked up to be. What if many George Soros minded billionaires buy into this? Would this be a, “get out of jail free card” for them? Will a gold card infer privileges that citizens do not enjoy? What national allegiances can a gold card holder pay homage to? Is possession of a gold card “a go to the head of the line” pathway to citizenship? Can gold cards be revoked and if so, for what reasons? Will gold card holders be above the laws of the United States? Can gold card holders cancel their cards and get their money back? Can Gold Cards be sold? If the possession of a gold card leads to enormous profits for the holder, does the money have to remain in the U.S? Do gold card holders have to live in the U.S. and if so do they get to bring in their extended families without having to go though legal immigration? Must this idea be legislated into law by Congress? After Congress is done with this, will the Gold Card be recognizable as that proposed by President Trump?
I could go on like this with many more pertinent questions. Bottom line is that this is a half baked idea and we do not have enough information to render any real opinion.

My concern is wealthy “unlicensed pharmacists” with access to vast sums of money.

(Names like Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán ring a bell?)
I’m all for LEGAL immigration based on merit or wanting to become real Americans.
Moreover it’s too easy to bribe someone to look the other way during the vetting process if you have 5 million dollars to throw around.

Being rich doesn’t give you character, talent or ethics. Many of our ancestors, and consequently we ourselves, would still be living in Europe if America was founded on principles of wealth alone.

Trump and company should be LASER FOCUSED, on reducing the size of government and government spending. Until such time that we get our deficit spending under control we’re still headed towards hyperinflation and then collapse. Meanwhile we still have millions of illegals to jettison. Moreover Trump and company need to figure out how to handle all the Drat judges that are running this country instead of Trump with interference on just about every single EO he issues.

Buying citizenship is not a message we want to send. Congress can’t ever be trusted with adequate oversight, and VETTING processes change with each administration… Biden waived all prior requirements! To risky given future compliance with crafted compliance can NOT BE enforced!

There are people here now that have been using the immigration process correctly. They need this process speeded up. The average time to follow the laws, because of the Red Tape, is over 9 years. These people don’t have $5mil but they are working hard to remain here. Address them so they know they are ok to wait for this slow walk is finished.

U.S. Citizenship is NOT FOR SALE! ….@ least it shouldn’t be.
Money shouldn’t be able to buy “everything.”
Citizenship should be earned, not purchased.

No matter what the intent, in the future things can and have been distorted for political purpose. I am afraid this would give the left a tool to pervert in the future. I would hate to see another George Soros.

Giving the rich from other cultures any additional powers or influence over Americans can easily lead to a path that strays from our constitution and ways of life. People from other cultures that come here without power or wealth have already changed our way of life in many cities, and not always for the better. No, buying your way into the country is the same as buying your way into anything that is not related to a moral transaction. In my opinion that would not bring the warm and fuzzies to most Americans. Additionally, aren’t we all supposed to be equal with equal chances? Bad idea, but nobody bats 1000.

I am not sure. What does this mean for immigrants coming through legally and have paid their dues and followed every law. My grandson married a girl from London and has been working on this for 3 years. They got married here in the States and have a child. They have paid over 7,000.00. She is still waiting on a visa so she can work. They are getting closer to the end.

Literally the day after the commerce secretary went live to defend the program, the administration strong armed the Romanian government into releasing two of the most unapologetic and notorious sex traffickers and abuse influencers in the world from prison and allowed them to come to Florida. The reason for these extraordinary efforts on their part? They were big supporters of Trump.
Let’s say I’m calling BS on the “Everybody will be vetted thoroughly” promises.

It’s time we did a little discrimination in our immigration policy. Let the screaming begin, but I’m watching White, European, Christian America rapidly being displaced. Look at the consequences we’ve suffered of letting bad people run our govt. in just the last 4 years.
I’m not a racist, nor bigot, but that’s what “they” will label you for wanting to support your own and not let your nation’s traditional character & culture be totally transformed. It’s happening as I speak, and Obama is smiling.

This will be a bad thing if dems get back the WH.
Certainly, will use this for more of their evil purposes.
People who get these cards will want special privileges for their purchase.
I don’t think we should support this idea.
I like DJT but this idea is a huge miss.

I am not in favor of this plan. The offer of illegals “buying” citizenship sounds like a quick fix scheme which will only complicate things in the long run, and undoubtedly become an open door for fraud and abuse. Although President Trump has been handed a large mess when it comes to illegal immigration, I think this plan should be scrapped. There are some things in this world that money cannot buy, like personal integrity and individual merit. Furthermore, we are living in uncertain and perilous times. This past summer, we were all witnesses to massive street demonstrations supporting Hamas! Whose to say that those bent on destroying us as a people and a nation would not buy into this offer of citizenship in order to commit acts of terrorism against us? Was the tragic incident on New Year’s Eve in New Orleans a precursor of things to come?

While I like the idea of incentives to get wealthy business creators/owners here to provide American jobs, I have concerns that with their wealth they will have undo influence like Soros, Gates, Zuckerberg & Bezos already do. I think besides money which should be in cash to pay down our $36 T debt plus the guarantee to provide US jobs, candidates also need to be vetted so that they are ensuring we get true America First minded potential citizens. Vetting should be easier as these people are likely high profile & have enough on the public record to see whether they are woke, criminals, or otherwise unsavory people we wouldn’t want here. They also would need to renounce citizenship from other countries & it should not be a fast track to automatically become citizens. They need to wait several years, take test, etc.

Trump has some ideas that concern me. This is one of them along with eliminating taxes on tips. Tips are revenue and should be taxed like any other income. He’s not afraid to try something off the wall, which is actually refreshing, and many are truly great for our country. We don’t have to agree with everything he does, something else that makes our country great.

Not sure about this one. I think our man should be concentrating on getting the illegals out, it’s a full time job, and Tom Homan will need help!

The current plan is tied to hiring people in marginal areas. And while I’m not a fan of how that has gone, I think the gold card program is just a money grab with no guarantees of positive long term outcomes.

There are some great ideas, number 1 auditing the government and stopping Demonicrats from stealing more of our hard earned money (I posed this 20 ago); Allowing foreigners to buy there way to becoming a citizen is absolute BS.
This is my out of the box idea: They can fill out the paperwork to become a U.S. Citizen, wait in line like everyone else, and then when there turn comes up, they can invest their millions into the economy.
Wayne-Dibbly, I agree with your “get out of jail free card. IMO, that is nothing more than bribery and coercion. George Soros has bought and paid for the lawfare committed by the Demonicrat Party, that needs to be stopped and we definitely should not base legal immigration on millionaires or billionaires buying their way into the United States.

My issue is foreigners buying US land and businesses. Start your own business. Most all commercial land is leased and until they become citizens they should be excluded from purchasing anything. Smithfield has been bought up by the Chinese. Its a meat supplier. Doesn’t settle well.

Pay to Play in the USA…. No Way! Buying US citizenship is wrong. Legal immigration should be based on merit alone!
Otherwise, I do support President Trump, and I would hope that President Trump will Lead this nation in Prayer without having to depend on someone else to initiate prayer. All Glory to GOD ALMIGHTY! Praised Be YOU KING JESUS… HALLELUJAH!!!

It could bring the world’s brightest minds to America if managed, and people applying are thoroughly screened. We need LEGAL immigrants, and it would help if we drew in the best and rightest from enemy nations IF they will assimilate and become Americans.

The Immigration System is definitely broken, but buying your way into the U.S.A. at any price is not a good solution in my view. I would like to see: (1) a strict annual merit-based quota; (2) English proficiency requirement; (3) a pledge of allegiance to our nation with at least one year probation period; (4) job, income, and paying taxes requirements; and (5) background check as thorough as possible…at least not being on the Terrorist Watch List.
*While we’re fixing the Immigration System, how about: (1) Nullifying our National Debt along with all debts owed to us by other countries (I am sure we are owed more than we owe them if we include USAID, biological (virus) attack costs-China, drug smuggling costs-China/Mexico, cyber-ID theft by China+, illegal immigration costs, economic and other terrorist attack costs; (2) Eliminate The Federal Reserve and Internal Revenue Service to expedite (1); and (3) Eliminate Private Property Taxes so we don’t lose our fully paid-for homes/land/cars due to ever-increasing taxes and only get taxed on incomes, goods and services.

Well let’s face it: not every idea coming out of this new (and definitely improved) administration is gonna be a winner. I’m already disappointed that the POTUS walked back rescinding funding the education of illegals (WTF????), but this is just another concession to the woke imbeciles that got us into this immigration mess in the first place. I hope that this idea is still in the “floating around” stage, so we the people can voice our general disapproval of it. NO FREEBIES FOR ANY ILLEGALS, PERIOD. Let’s stop giving the shaft to those who, despite our legal red tape and obstacles, still respect America enough to go about it the wrong way.

Just plain old ‘NO’ wasn’t an option which is my thought on this nonsense. They must give up their citizenship to whatever country they are coming from. There are already too many in this country with dual-citizenship especially in our government. No, no, no!

I thought President Trump was trolling someone or some entity. This is no different from many other countries, including Canada, where one requirement at some time was to have the resources to found a company that can hire eight people or have a $100,000. That isn’t a lot today, but it was decades ago. I haven’t looked into Canada recently, but Trump’s proposal about true merit to get into this country now includes resources. Europe has similar rules in which you can buy your way in.

Just to be clear, this isnt’ “Buying US citizenship”. That is misleading. It expedites the long process, but you still go through the test, make the pledge, and so forth. Like paying extra for getting your passport processed fast, but a lot more expensive 🙂

It’s been in place since the early 1990’s. Trump wants to upgrade it to $5 million. The law as stands provides permanent residency for $1,000,000 investment, or a $500,000 investment in a low income area. Get over it. It’s been here for 30 plus years.

It’s a great idea. People who can pay $5M are likely to have a lot of “merit” and will be job and wealth creators. Of course there will need to be vetting for safety, etc to make sure there are no bad guys.
