Jimmy Kimmel was recently reinstated as host of his late-night TV show after being suspended for spreading falsehoods about the alleged killer of Charlie Kirk. Supporters claim his suspension trampled on free speech, while critics argue he got what he deserved. What do you think?

This is NOT a free speech issue! ABC is a private business organization and has the right to release an employee for low ratings and for losing the business large amounts of money each year. The left wants to blame the Trump Administration for pressuring ABC to release Kimmel, which is just another lie by the Democrats. Look at what the Democrats did to Rosanne Barr, look at what the Biden Administration did when they pressured Google, Twitter, Facebook & YouTube to ban conservative’s accounts preventing them free access to social media, especially during national election year.

None of the above. The suspension was justified on a company and financial basis

Free speech is one thing. Hate speech is what Kimmel spoke of before he was justly kick off the air. His weak apology to get his job back was a joke and had no substance. Kimmel is just another idiot who thinks he is above criticism and showed no remorse in his speech to get his show back on. The left keeps this rhetoric going and will not change. They push against common sense and think they are right. America lost a true warrior in Charlie Kirk and is a country deeply divided . We cannot allow the Dems to ever get back in power again as Trump continues to improve our country.

He wasn’t suspended by the government. The network can do whatever they deem in their best interest. He is free to lie through his teeth and we are free to turn off the boob tube. What’s the problem?

Turn about is fair play. Kimmel got a taste of what conservatives have had done to them. NBC/Disney can fire Kimmel at any time for his poor ratings and lack of tact and poor taste in his comments. If Kimmel and the other late night no-talent buffoons want to know how to run a talk show, they can go watch reruns of Johnny Carson — the king of late night TV! There is an old interview from 1979 that has shown up in the past few days, that Johnny did with Mike Wallace, and Johnny explained what it was dangerous to use his show to push politics — Kimmel and his pathetic ilk should take note. I’ve never watched Kimmel or the others, and I’ve no plans to.
Johnny Carson had real talent and was genuinely funny. The late night “poison” on now, not so much.

One further point: If you want to teach someone a lesson, give them a taste of their own medicine, it is very effective.

why is this called an attack on free speech, when you work for someone you do as they tell you or you can quit, this has nothing at all to do with the first amendment

If Disney wants to suspend Kimmell or fire him it’s their choice, just like social media will suspend you if you violate their policies. Although Disney has little reputation left, it will have to decide if they want to add or subtract from their already damaged reputation. Free speech does not give you the right to tarnish your employers reputation or cause them loss of business. Businesses and/or public entities also have a responsibility to act on an employees actions if they act out in certain ways during their off time and that action tarnishes the companies name/reputation or respect of an official position.

I can’t help but wonder if this was a marketing ploy. Ratings for Kimmel & the network have plunged to a record low. This has awakened so many other nuts out there that they will have to watch him. Won’t last and he will stay on the bottom.

I don’t know when or why late night talk shows have become such a bastion of leftist stupidity. It seems like it may have started with letterman another poor piece of work. I can’t stand any of it, including saturday night live, never ever worth watching!

The problem IS that none of these blathering anti American mouthpieces are held accountable. You can say whatever you wants but ALL actions have consequences. They are paid a ridiculous amount of money, for in my opinion ,spewing the liberal doctrine, and their commercial sponsors shouldn’t put up with it.
The liberals mouth off and lie and expect others to feel sorry for them??
No thanks, Kimmel can just go away. Inconsequential little man.

I didn’t vote because the correct answer isn’t one of the choices. An employer has a right to fire an employee if they become a financial problem or ethical problem for the company.

This is a ridiculous elevation of Kimmel. I’m embarrassed that AMAC would add to the face time given to this 2nd rate comedian. Please let him go away so we can focus on real problems. This constant focus on foolishness is an obstacle to progress.

Who is writing your Poll questions (wording them)? As I have commented on numerous occasions (to no avail) one of those questions should be that Kimmel’s suspension was a CORP-orate decision to protect its shareholders and interests, lying to their viewers esp. concerning a person just assassinated by the anti-American Left, a “furry” no less, was looked at as performing / representing them as a “poor character” and had nothing to do with a 1st Amendment Right. He is their employee.
Q: Was Kimmel fired / suspended due to corporate policies, and NOT Free Speech, due to threatening their FFC licensing guidelines?

Where was that question? The Left has once again owned the narrative on how we the people should view and question what happened. Thanks AMAC, you might want to check your ranks.

These are poorly worded options. This was not a free speech issue. The network took him off the air, not to appease the Trump Administration, but to avoid backlash from the viewers. I. The end who cares if he is on the air. He is not relevant.

This is not a free speech issue.
This is not a free speech issue.

This is not a free speech issue. He made a statement suggesting it was fact. Deliberately misleading the public with his opinions. His show has lost Disney/ABC viewers and money drastically over the last 12 months. It really does not have anything to do with Donald Trump. As a business owner I would have fired him already for his ratings but after that stunt he would have his marching orders. I really do not care what Hollywood thinks. I watch movies and television for the entertainment value. I could careless what their opinions are. But with the liberal movement, I choose not to watch certain actors because of their opinions they force on the public.

Kimmel is not funny, he represents the Hollywood / Entertainment elite. Not worth getting worked up about, what he said was wrong, but remember their side hates us and it is becoming more evident with each passing day. He’s back on the air, but really, how many actually watch him.

I don’t watch late night TV. They aren’t funny anymore and they use their platform to spew lies and hate. I’m just ticked he’s back on. Who watches anymore? Mostly watch RAV. Thanks AMAC for an alternative.

ABC used Kimmel’s statements as justification for dumping his low-rated show. It backfired on them, so to show their “woke” credentials they brought him back. That won’t stop Erika Kirk (among others) from suing his a** off, along with ABC, for slander, defamation and outright lying. Kimmel still can’t draw flies, so he’ll end up in the trash bin quietly.

Walt Disney’s dream has morphed into nothing but political madness with a heavy left wing influence. Such a shame. My Dad took us to Disney Land when I was a young lad and it was magical- not any more – with special days for folks that should be seeking help for mental health issues – I nor my daughter will be taking my Granddaughter to any of the Disney parks or partake in any of there movies with all of the subliminal texts inserted – for she wants to raise her with Judaiu/Christian values and with Disney – that’s not possible. A great concept has lost its way. I believe Walt would have fired him for such insensitive remarks about a young man’s assassination who had a beautiful family and a bright future ahead of him.

Kimmel is the worst and the suspension should have been termination; however it was a ploy on the part of the network to seek a response to increase ratings. And it succeeded which makes it even worse because Kimmel will never change so his following will rapidly drop off.

Jimmy is just a distraction from Charlie, who was murdered because of free speech! Charlie spoke the truth and was murdered for it. Jimmy lied and got suspended! In the case of Charlie, he was speaking publicly . Jimmy was speaking as an employee of a company and they should have the right to suspend him if they were offended by his speech.like I said , this was just a distraction from the real freedom of speech issue, notice how quickly the news moved on from Charlie!

Ultimately, kimmel is part of the disney, abc, mainstream, lying liberal media – who feel it’s their responsibility to spread lies, hate, create division – I don’t waste my time watching, or listening to a second of any mainstream garbage. I just wish conservative media would stop giving them any attention – giving evil any attention only feeds it to grow & spread

Jimmie K. Deserved what he got and hopefully he will be canned at the end of the season. There is NOTHING funny about someone being assassinated. No matter what your political leanings are, his comments were in extremely poor taste. AND he is not funny. Seems as if when entertainers get to a certain point in their careers they feel immortal and immune from criticism. Jimmie, you are not that good. I remember when Jay Leno and Tim Allen got the heat from Obama and were edged off the stage just for a few well deserved comments.

Your forced choice answers do not reflect the intricacies of the situation. Of course free speech should be protected, yet the suspension was a justifiable business decision unrelated to the First Amendment. Many conservatives have lost their jobs, not just suspended, for far less.

I am fed up with public figures being able to lie, yet they and their fawning media get to say that the lie was a “misspoken” word or some such BS. If you or I said the very same thing we would be called a liar and the words a lie. PEOPLE ARE HURT BY WORDS. Just look at what is happening to public figures like Charlie Kirk, regular conservatives that can’t go to restaurants or publicly wear a MAGA hat and the targeting of ICE and our law enforcement. STOP the LIES and TONE DOWN THE HATE.

I believe this was a final wake up call for Kimmel. It is not like he said this “just one thing.” He has been spewing hate for Trump or anything right of center for eight plus years, and I know these things while I have never seen the show nor would ever watch it. This was a call to the bosses office and was told, your show according to your ratings sucks. Your hate Trump crusade is not working. Fix it or you’re fired! That’s what he was told.

There needed to be another option in the poll. Kimmel’s suspension had nothing to do with “Free Speech”. He was not arrested, fined by the government, or disappeared.

His employer was not happy with his lying on air and alienating a large porch of their customer base.

Kimmel was suspended and rightly so for doing what the left does so frequently like lying, applying false labels to those they disagree with and taking comments out of context. But do not be fooled by ABC, they think they did enough to appease both sides.

I believe that if your job has you talking to the American people even in jest you do not have the right to use it as a platform for your own opinion!! You do however have the right to voice it like all the rest of us, Peaceful pubic protest , or as an invited guest being ask to share an opinion. What he did was stepping over the line as he does many times. As many do. It come to a point that we must remember what we say or do sometimes can be harmful to others.

Kimmel is really not funny when all he talks about are politics. He is alienating people when you only talk poorly about one side in politics, if you can’t come up with something funny in your monologue without delving into politics, are you really a comedian? I think that Jimmy Kimmel should watch reruns of Johnny Carson, that was a true late-night television host and these other guys are just playing around. I did attempt to watch them at one time, but I don’t find them very funny when it’s the same stuff over and over. If I had to pick, I would go with Jimmy Fallon.
I wish we could go back to the Johnny, Dave & even Jay days.

Freedom of speech, is is a 1st amendment right, and every American has that right, and after spending 8yrs in the Army, I would protect and uphold the constitution, but I am grown enough to know when I represent a company or tv show, hospital, where my behavior may result in negative attention, such as .lying and unfunny sick humors may cause your employers to see your behavior for what it is cruel, childish, hate filled and uninformed, bringing shame injuring their public face and poor rating they have every right to fire you as a consequence. You make your expensive bed.lay in it.
