Congress is “in session” less than half the year with an average of 147 for the House of Representatives and 165 days for the Senate. This is the time they are supposed to be working on legislation. When not in session they are in “recess” or “out of session.” During their “recess” time they are supposedly spending their time listening to, and rubbing elbows with their constituents. Yeah, like they really listen or care, for that matter.

Kissing babies, shaking hands, and holding a town hall or two doesn’t move the needle as far as getting important legislation passed to actually make America safe, secure, and prosperous.

It’s the same as a mattress salesperson taking “recess” time off from his/her normal forty-hour workweek in order to go home and spend time with their mattress. (Absurd comparison I know, but you get the absurdity of our do-nothing elected officials taking a recess when critical legislation is on the docket.

When most people run for public office, they make all sorts of promises and claims about how they will “be different” and work hard for the people. Then shortly after getting sworn in, they are now “captured” by the senior elected officials who make them drink the Kool-Aid, and give them the task of working on their re-election campaign by fundraising, and taking money from lobbyists. If they don’t comply with the demands of the corrupt seniors, they will not get assigned to important committees, and are basically black listed until they do succumb to the ways of the “do-nothing Congress.”

Regardless of political party – DO THE JOB FOR WHICH YOU WERE ELECTED!!! GET BACK TO WORK!!!

“Anyone who doesn’t want to work is like someone who destroys?”   Proverbs 18:9

How about starting to hold activist, liberal judges liable for releasing criminals into society after multiple arrests/convictions!

Extremely disappointed. Democrats are making them all look like wimps. Like Rush always said, dems circle the wagons together. Why individual repubs try to make themselves look like hero’s instead of standing together is a mystery.

Not only did they not stay for the Save America Act, but they completely failed on funding the government! They pulled a stunt, which Thune permitted, and then flew the coup. They are anti-American! All democrats need to be out of office, but without the Save America Act they will rig the elections and we will never get rid of them. That is how communists work. We were warning people since the days of Obama and most wouldn’t listen. Who is going to come to our rescue, who will stand up like Trump, when our country looks like Venezuela? No one.

I think they should of stayed there until it was passed . I’m sick of the Republicans giving in to the dems . We need men /women with morals and a spine to hold dems accountable for their crap.

Not sure why you want to hear what i think, when I called my 1 and only senator. They acted like they couldn’t care less. I doubt they even took my name. Down. They are gonna do whatever they want
I dont believe my senator stands with our President
.certainly can’t count on my congressman
He definitely is against our President
They might have well just been democrats
I feel I have no voice
Im petrified for the future of our country
I stand by President Trump

Adjourning during a government shutdown where important agencies are NOT GETTING PAID, while these congress people go home with their pay checks is the first problem, but not passing the SAVE act, universally supported by citizens, is criminal. John Thune is a weak leader, and he MUST be replaced.

Wrong question.

The relevant question is:

How do you feel about Senate Republicans adjourning until April 13 rather than continuing debate on eliminating the filibuster ?

since that is the only way that the SAVE America Act will pass.

Anyone leaving for break should not get a paycheck, Democrats and repubs. They aren’t doing their job! President Trump works tirelessly, senators should also. We are on course to lose any majority in midterms and repubs not forcing passage of the SAVE Act shows they don’t care.

I voted for BOTH of my Republican Senators. I am now asking myself WHY?!? Obviously, I could NEVER vote for democRATs (commie-crats), however, I am seriously questioning WHY?!?!? If Senators refuse to fight for ME, why would I vote for them?

No one leaves, period. Every one of them dems and repubs stay and gets the job finished. No pay if they do leave. Tired of this, so tired of this fooling around. They run to get elected, then they coast and drag things out—no work, no pay, like the rest of us.

I believe that if the government is shut down and government employees are not being paid, neither should Congress. They stay in the swamp and work it out until there is a resolution. We are asking Federal workers to stay at work without pay, so can Congress!

The republican senate has many intelligent members that work hard to legislate the changes president Trump and we, the electorate want. However, Thune is either an ineffective leader or another socialist democrat wasting Trump’s agenda in the name of senate procedures and leftists corruption. Get another majority leader, now! Stop any republican support for Susan Collins, Rand Paul, Lisa Murkowski and the rest of the RINOs, and put the senate in high gear forwarding Trumps agenda for America. John Kennedy, Ted Cruz, Marsha Blackburn, Tim Scott, take control of the senate now and lead it to success or let the word republican fade into political oblivion after you lose the majority in the midterms. I am truly disappointed in what little you have thus far achieved under the greatest president in our history.

It’s becoming very clear the Rinos don’t care about America. What an inconvenience they need to do the job they were elected to do. Trust me, the leftist would ORDER every Demo to be at their post to defeat the SAVE Act.

This is what happens when you have poor leadership….Thune is just a McConnell puppet who likes to pretend he is doing something when I reality is is just playing a game to run clock out. I never thought he would be an effective leader because he is just another swamp rat.

What are we paying them for? Work for us or raise money to campaign to stay in office? Of course, that’s their primary job, isn’t it. Term limits, like the founding father invisioned it. Do you part in governing and then go back to your regular life. We don’t need professional politicians who have never had to show a proffit for their labors. The early representives knew how to budget as it was their resourses they were dealing with. Today, it’s OTHER PEOPLES’ MONEY they get to give away or find creative ways to fund projects THEY have an interest in developing.

If we all “worked” the same way the House & Senate work, this nation would collapse. With legislation this important, they – Democrats & Republicans – should be there until the matter is resolved. – then take a break. – better yet – they should be on the job 40+ hours a week, with 2 weeks of vacation a year like everyone else. It seems they spend more time debating useless, ancient things like Epstein, J 6 – things that no amount of new debate will change – rather than current issues – like the save act, which would better the nation moving forward. It’s past time they all grow up, step down from their political podems, & actually WORK TOGETHER – for the benefit of the CITIZENS they are supposed to represent.

I am trying to understand why/how the Democrats can stop the Republicans efforts any time they chose. The Republicans have the Presidency, the House AND the Senate and yet they still need Democrats to get anything done, WHY? When the Democrats are in power, they can push through any horrible legislation they want, like Obamacare, the laughable Affordable Care act and anything else, and the Republicans can only send out unlimited requests for campaign donations. I’m not sending these fools a NICKEL! If I was as ineffectual at my job, where results are the only things that matter and my only excuse was “it’s not a good time” , I’d be out of a job. Why is Thune still allowed to delay, deny and slow-walk everything and then take off at 3:30 yesterday afternoon for a two week vacation? Where is the outrage from Republican voters that RINO’s are not going to be tolerated? I grew up in New England not far from where, not that long ago, Tar and Feathering was dished out to officials that abused their positions. These weasels are going to let the Democrats steal the midterms and get back into power and then it’s game over.

John Thune is a lazy bum. “We don’t have the votes.” His job is to get off his backside and GET the votes. He is supposed to “sell” the legislation to Congressmen in both parties so they will vote for the Save America Act. It seems like most are just there for the stock tips, to enrich themselves and line up a job when their tenure is done.

Considering what they have put the TSA, as well as other Government Employees through in the past year, they do not deserve any break. They seem to be taking these funding debates to get extra Vacation Time, Now since they have been getting paid all this time, they should stay until there is an agreement and bring back the Talking Filibuster. They have far too much power that they have given themselves, voting raises for themselves, and all of the perks they have given to themselves. It is way past time to hold them accountable for the extent to which they punish the Voters and then laugh all the way to the Bank. Time to put an end to the tail wagging the Dog.

The Congress in, for the most part – okay a very large part useless. In my 8 decades of watching this clown-show, every year – Kill daylight savings – nothing done. Rewrite the tax code, it’s a cluster f*** because they want it that way -nothing done. Clean up stuffed voter registration roles with dead or illegal people- nothing done. Pass a balanced budget like that silly piece of paper – the Constitution says – nothing done.
Yes, every year bloviating about all these and conservatively 1,000 more things and nothing done.
How about we fire everyone of ’em every election until we get some who actually do at least SOME of what they say?

This is only more evidence that the nation is governed by a Uniparty with each side getting a chance for a piece of the pie. Our government is so “bought and sold” it no longer functions for the people. The wealth accumulated by politicians while they are in office is a result of their corruption.

I live in Illinois, so have absolutely no voice in the Senate. I have written both Senators and all I get back are form letters. Blah. Blah. Blah. On the whole, I am just disappointed in our broken system. When 75 to 80% of voters are in favor of something and the bills don’t pass, there is something terribly wrong. Government employees and the public should never suffer because Congress (both sides of the aisle) won’t do their job. It should be illegal. It won’t change, though, because the people who can change it are the ones in charge of the broken system. They definitely should not be paid right now.

Elected officials have become a joke spending more time on list to testimony about NIL money and buying college athletes than doing anything meaningful.
The government has become a poor soap opera with overpaid actors/actresses. Each side agreeing to create problems that they will never fix ensuring the country remains divided and never focus on the real issues that affect working class Americans regardless of political views.
Everything these clowns do is for their own enrichment. There just aren’t any major social issues that impact the majority of Americans. Boarder Control and election integrity have become a joke. Simply secure the boarder and enforce immigration process.
The government has fu???? Things up so badly there isn’t enough time in one day or enough space to even address a fraction of the issues

Having a picture ID to vote is all that is required. The other 999 pages of the bill are worthless posturing. Republicans are still trying to push a “stolen election “ narrative. Most of us just seek common sense.

I wish there was some way that all of our elected politicians could read these comments. It seems that once they’re in office, they could care less what their constituents think as long as they have those opportunities to grow richer at taxpayers’ expense.

Republicans need to regroup after the DHS funding fight to define a plan they can all get on board with. I suggest they force the talking filibuster. But if that won’t work then nuke the whole thing and pass the SAVE act on a majority vote. The left is willing to go all out on this, so should we.

It’s simple, if we don’t secure our elections now, it’s like giving the cheating left permission. We’ll never win another election.

I’m sure all working Americans, have jobs to do in whatever field they work in. Have to get their tasks completed, finished. My government, both sides of the aisle I’m disappointed even in these difficult times with world events. Are leaving to take a spring break when there is so much work to get done to help this country and economy back on track. I’m just very frustrated, as a truck driver think about during covid when the shelves were empty how people were when they didn’t have the products that they needed, well we need our government to do the job we elected them to do.NOW DO YOUR JOB OR THERE WILL BE A BLUE WAVE COME NOVEMBER, GOD HELP US.

If they actually did their work during the times they’re in session, we wouldn’t have these problems. They’re too busy with preening before the cameras (I’m talking to you, Chuckie) and having “power lunches” with lobbyists who can pad their pockets than doing the people’s business. I’m disgusted with the lot of them.

Remember, We voted them in there. We are getting what we, collectively, voted for. Think about that in November, or now, in primary season. If you didn’t call or email your senator to tell him or her how you feel, you really can’t complain, can you?
