The Socialist Left loves to play word games.  Under the nightmare of the “Auto-Pen” administration, inflation reached an annual rate of 9.1% in June of 2022, which was a 40-year high.  But the ostriches on the left who downplayed inflation; dismissed the financial pain we experienced; laughed off energy prices; and continued to gaslight us about the climate, simply called it “Transitory.

Now as we just had a mini election season and the midterms a year away, they have changed their wording to “Affordability.”  The radical Left was silent when it mattered to us under Biden, but they are only talking about affordability now because they are hoping we have amnesia about who was responsible for destroying our economy.

When the media and elected Socialist leaders use the term affordable, they don’t mean less expensive – they mean government subsidized!  To them the “Affordable Care Act” (oxymoron) is only affordable because taxpayers pick up the tab.  The same people who fell for the “Affordable Healthcare” scam of Obamacare will also likely fall for any “Affordability Scam.”

When Socialist officials talk about affordability, they are talking about making other people pay for things that will be mostly free for Democrat voters — welfare payments, food stamps, subsidized healthcare, subsidized education, subsidized utilities, subsidized housing, subsidized transportation, etc.  They just fool their constituents that reducing their costs to “free” means it is more affordable.

Some are doubting that President Trump can improve our economic situation.  But in eleven short months he would need a magic wand to undo the damage the previous administration caused.  The burst of inflation since 2021 has been a direct result of overspending in 2020 in reaction to the pandemic, which was exacerbated unnecessarily by further wild spending increases in subsequent years implemented by President Joe Biden and Democrat-only votes in Congress.  Excessive federal spending is the real reason prices rose and may not return to their pre-pandemic levels.

The unfettered invasion of illegal immigration has placed extreme damage on the housing, healthcare, and education sectors, to a crisis level.  The shift to giving all the welfare handouts to these illegals, in addition to the citizens (dead or alive) already receiving said freebies has bankrupted the system.  Not only have we spent money we don’t have, the amount of fraud and abuse is astronomical.

Trump can’t just “SNAP” (pun intended) his finger and generate a thriving economy.  This administration needs to root out the $billions of abuses of subsidized programs like SNAP, and enact laws and processes so only those who truly deserve handouts receive them.

Since taking office eleven months ago, Trump’s administration has reduced the inflation rate and prices on many things (remember gasoline and egg prices under Biden?)  However, we have a long way to go.  They need to continue to remove illegal aliens; remove burdensome regulations & restrictions; promote free market capitalism; expand energy production; pass a balanced budget and halt wasteful spending; and put the reins on the Federal Reserve.

Because there is, in the end, only one way to make things more affordable: to reduce prices. And there are only two ways to reduce prices: to reduce demand, or to increase supply. But governmental interventionism tends to do precisely the reverse. Government interventions are generally designed to increase demand through subsidies, thus increasing prices; or they are designed to reduce supply through restrictions and regulation; or both. Socialism is not the answer, Commie Mamdani!  Bottom line:  Despite what the manic media and the Dems are saying, our economy is better than it was a year ago.

“Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money,                    which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment.”     1 Timothy 6:17

High prices for everything in California are a conti using problem. When you have a Democratic run state there is no way to come out ahead. All of my children and grandchildren fhave moved out of the state and are enjoying life in Tennessee. Being 80 years old I will tough it out California. as have been in 48 of the 50 states in my life and am not in any MI d set for lousy weather, hurricanes ,tornados etc. I will continue to vote against Democrats every chance I get and unless the Big one (Earthquake) comes along and destroys my home I will live as usual, hating Democrats and what they have done to this country. Trump has a daily battle with these idiots, is making headway , but when you deal with idiots change comes hard. Plus I am just too set it my ways to move. Keep fighting Mr. Trump.

Biden’s mismanagement of the country in general, and the economy specifically, will take time to correct, but it will happen! I am encouraged by the progress made by the businessman in the White House in the 11 months he has been in office. the only bump in the road is the Democratic party. They can’t seem to get out of the way of the American people and their future! We need to give the Republicans a clear majority in the legislature next year for the full recovery to take place.

No one has patience. And the other side is pessimistic, runs the late night shows and scares everyone to death. Speaking of death, that’s all the other side focuses on too. Abortion, and easy ways out of elderlycare. I remember Biden talking once about the nicety it would be to just give the elderly a pill and do what Kavorkian wanted, euthinize the elderly, or just anybody could take one for that matter. Life is not important or exceptional to them. Eveyone is OMG about Tariff this, price of that, whining sniffling young people who don’t save, still live with their parents and don’t trust what Trump is trying to set in place…or put into motion. Just like fishing, it may take more than 5-10 minutes to catch a fish. You may have to wait a couple of hours. So, with the economy patience is the rule of the day. Let Trump put the things in place that next year or in his third year will start seeing changes. Optimists should be ruling the day and even our own side needs patience.

I am doing okay. Although, I’ve had a huge lifestyle change withing the last year. I have finally fully retired, moved out of San Diego County to a small town in New Mexico. My perspective is a little bit skewed because of CA prices; gasoline is way cheap here in N.M. as compared to what I had been paying for years in CA, plus I no longer have an hour commute each way simply to get to work and back home.  Energy costs are way cheaper here in N.M., I was paying over $850 a month for my electricity and gas in CA – ridiculous when you consider that I lived alone and was at work or asleep two thirds of the time each day – in other words, I wasn’t consuming a whole lot of energy. Here in N.M. I’m paying less than $50 for my gas/elec, plus I’m at home all the time. Grocery prices are still a bit high, all meat prices need to come down a lot more, especially beef.

Many years ago during Reagan’s first term, I was dating a woman rather big in the RNC, and we were invited to one of several party’s given for pols, congress people, and of course donation people.
On the handshake line with Lee Atwater the leader of the RNC at the time, I over heard him say to a young kid who wanted to have a long discussion about how Reagan had won. These handshake lines have a protocol – shake hands and move along, Lee said “Look kid the political pie is only so big, sometimes we win, get 51% of the pie, sometimes they win they get the bigger slice. What matters is that we, or they, get the big slices. If this third party gets moving, well somebodies slice will get real small, so let’s just keep the 2 slice thing and this line going.”
That dynamic has changed. The Democrats have gone so far left that there’s a real likelihood of losing this thing – the American dream.
Yes Trump is great and doing great things, but the Left never sleeps, is patient, and has an endless supply of “useful idiots” pumped out of colleges for a mere $25,000 a year tuition.
We better work to see we get a 60% slice, or more.
To the point, I’m doing better under Trump, like I did his first term, but it seems the electorate has a suicide wish – combined with a very short memory.

I think TRUMP is doing everything correctly. He is has gotten the world stage to be fair instead of taking u s to the cleaners. Anyone says anything different is just not being truthful. And people need to get off his back, he has done more in 10 months to unravel the mess left to him. It takes more than 10 months, wait till June or July of 26 and you will really start seeing some effects of brilliant policy. And i might also add no President has ever come this close to achieving the world at peace! Get off the man’s back and get behind him as we should!

One of the biggest problems created by libs was raising minimum wages to $15 – $30 for entry level workers. All it did was to force businesses to raise their their prices and in many cases close.
As an example, fast food industry. Ridiculous prices. Sometimes its cheaper to eat at a nice, sit down restaurant.

I do see some improvement in food and gas prices in my Ohio hometown. After 4 years under Biden of raging inflation, I think it’s unrealistic to expect Trump to turn the ship around quickly. I believe steps are being taken to help the situation but it will take time. Our foreign affairs are improving and we need to protect our nation. So many issues to cover by this administration, but I believe we’re heading in a better direction than we would have been under Harris or another term of Biden!

I don’t blame Trump he is doing his best to try and drain the swamp and get the economy back from the brink of collapse all the time fighting a corrupt judiciary of insane federal judges. ITS the lunatics in congress who keep printing and spending money that we don’t have, WHICH is making our money worthless thus our cost of living keeps going up I don’t see anything in the future that will turn this around. Until the stupid people of this country STOP sending stupid people to congress we are doomed. We must get our fiscal house in order just think how cheap things would be if every dollar was backed by GOLD!

Inflation doesn’t go away. If it did that 5 cent Snickers bar that I had as a kid would still be near 5 cents. The economy needs to grow so that incomes can grow. There is the lag between economic growth and salary growth. The worse the economic damage the longer the lag. I fear that Trump does not have enough time, to overcome the damage that Biden and the Democrats have done, before the midterms. If he loses the House and Senate he will be a lame duck for the last two years and the Dems will continue their obstruction to ensure that no Republican can win the Presidency in 2028.

I see the pressure weighing on Trump. He has begun lashing out more angrily at them and supporters that have differences in opinion. I fear the whole recovery effort is about to implode. I think the Donald needs to take a break from the reporters and get some rest. Biden rested for four years while is administration tried to destroy the country, Trump could take a week off.

I doesn’t seem like prices have come down much, but I remember President Trump’s first term, so I know things will eventually get better. It doesn’t help that the opposition is fighting tooth and nail not to let him do ANYTHING that will help things get better. I heard someone say that one of the goals of the Schumer shutdown was to shutdown the economic recovery that was taking place and to ruin the stats to make Trump look bad. If that’s true, I’m pretty disgusted. TDS is real!! And NOT logical! Ithink this is a spiritual battle. I’m praying that God would defeat this stronghold in our country!

We are retired, and our investments are doing quite well. I do not believe prices will fall, but I do see them stabilizing. The government shutdown only affected us in that we were unable to enjoy the national parks we wanted to visit on vacation. I’m not minimizing the real financial pain experienced by government employees. President Trump is being opposed in every way about every single thing he wants to accomplish. We are weary of 24-hour news and the political chaos it causes. What would happen to the economy if someone wasn’t always sticking a microphone in front of some dumb politician? It would improve.

I still feel the effects of Biden’s inflation and prices, especially groceries remain too high. At the same time, I DO see signs of improvement. I DO feel more stable with some really nice investment returns. And yes, the long-term damage will take years to fully unwind. We, as a Country, need to restore common sense, honesty, and dignity to our society. We, as a Country, need to make certain that Congress is NOT a lifetime career.

Our government has been overspending for decades, and it will take years to right the ship. Bringing energy prices down and manufacturing home is key, along with enforcing our immigration laws. However, Americans are notoriously impatient; they want immediate results. If the Left gets in power again, Trump’s achievements will be for naught. We must hold Congress, in the midterms, and get JD in the WH, in 2028, in order to get the USS America completely turned around.

During 2025, here in the People’s Republic of Illinois, the price of gasoline has dropped about 10% while the price of a trip to the grocery store has increased 10/15% so maybe a 2-3% increase in overall prices.

That said, with with Administration announcing a pullback this week on many of the recently imposed tariffs on food, I am expecting that food prices will level off and stabilize in 2026.

My wife and I are retired. Fortunately, we have an IRA in addition to Social Security – if it were not for that, we would really be struggling. I have increased the monthly amount I withdraw from the IRA, but am very reluctant to increase that amount since I don’t know how long we will need it, Every thing has gone up tremendously – far more than what the annual SS COLA provides for. I remember my early years and struggling to support my family. God blessed me tremendously over the years as we raised five children. As A.G.E. (Acquired Geriatric Emaciation) takes hold, we now have to pay someone to do a lot of the things we used to do. Increased property taxes (over half going to the county schools – at 77 we should not have to keep supporting the school system) and insurance premiums for both cars and our home have skyrocketed to the point that we may have to sell our home and move out of the county. The economy has been totally ravaged and we see no relief on the horizon. Brings back some of the less desirable memories of my younger years. I also understand the purpose of increased tariffs – we are being taken advantage of as a nation (have been for many years) – but that will also drive up costs for day-to-day living. Even so, come, Lord Jesus (Rev. 22:20) – make haste!

Scott Bessent says he hopes that increasing wages will help people realize the economy is working due to the new jobs President Trump has brought in but that does not help the retired people on fixed incomes. Also if he can’t bring the price of beef down there will be less demand and we will lose even more ranchers. Fewer restrictions on “On the Farm” butchering and breaking up the processors cartel would be make a huge statement to his core group supporters that he understands their problems and hasn’t forgotten them.

This is an interesting poll. However, I think a different one about the six democrats who produced a video where they told U.S. military and intelligence personnel to defy and disobey orders would have been better and should be asked. These two senators and four representatives should be held accountable for this subversion of our government. If six republican congressmen would have done this during the Joke Biden administration you can bet that Merrick “They stole my lunch money, again” Garland would have had his henchmen file as many charges against these reps as possible.

The growth in my IRAs is covering my monthly payouts so I only need to tap them for big expenses like a better car and some home improvements. Of course, I live in a RED state with a competent government and that helps. I would guess much of the problem with finances are paying rent, healthcare, college tuition, etc. for millions of illegal aliens which causes some states and cities to raise taxes and fees. “Blue” politicians have never figured out [or don’t care] that “there is no such thing as a free lunch.”

I wish someone would clearly explain that inflation, i.e. dollar devaluation due to too much printing of money, can be reduced but the cost of goods will generally not go down because the devaluation has taken place. Pres. Trump is taking the right steps despite the impediments constantly introduced by the dems and their dishonest judges. The dems just care about their power, not about the welfare of the people. BY reducing inflation and keeping taxes low, Pres. Trump is improving the lives of all Americans. Everyone, give him more time and stop supporting the dems and all those that are working to stop the needed changes that the President is making!

Government at all levels, whether D or R, is too big and is still taxing and spending us into oblivion. Congress needs to do its job and actuality pass a budget instead of continuing to pass Continuing Resolutions, which continues to fund everything at the Biden levels. We need to get back to basics and fund only those. We are continuing to slide further into Socialism: case in point; the government buying into private companies.

Yes, “inflation” is down/decreased. But (at least my) wages are not up and prices are still inflated. Generally, I think Trump is having a positive effect on the overall economy, but it is going to take at least another year to undo Biden’s mess. I worry, though about the inflationary effect of his planned “tariff rebates” and the idea being floated of 50-year mortgages is HORRIBLE. Right out of the WEF’s, “You’ll own nothing, and be happy” dystopia.

The entire country had eroded under Biden, despite Trump’s ability and promises and now his position, it is questionable if he or anyone can bring it back. Economy is not wall street, economy is joe avg. that is strugglilng to make ends meet, that sees food prices soar, health costs out of reach, home prices and rent exorbitantly high. I supported Trump 3 times and have begun to question his focus: tariffs have helped the national coffers to an extent (natl. debt virtually unfixable), yet they have hit the avg. American with higher costs. Corporations have raised prices, reduced pkg size while doing nothing to improve product or service. Trumps’ focus on a new ball room for the WH helps me or anyone how? His making peace is noteworthy and positive, however, how does that help a nation that is imploding from within? Congress is inept, divisions over power take precedent over helping the nation recover from 4 yrs of Biden and 8 of Obama. As an upper middle class (hate the term but people understand it) I don’t feel safer, don’t feel better off and watch as so many struggle to make ends meet so they turn to socialism, to “free stuff” as a way to improve their lives. Illegal immigrant deportation and arrests need to be focused on Trumps original plan, remove criminals, gang members, those who perpetrate crimes. Remove funding from blue cities and states to the extent possible. I get it Trump is doing his best, not focused on one thing or even 2 or 3 or 4, but on all of it because our nation was a disaster, govt. under Biden failed everyone but criminals and socialist and communists who continue to want to destroy us. Hope is not lost but hope is a distant objective for too many. The job of turning around our nation may not be possible in 4 or even 8 or 12 years and inpossible if Dem’s/socialists take control.
