Today, The Federalist published a story by Mark Hemingway that details the growing influence of AMAC. The piece highlights the nefarious practices of AARP in receiving hundreds of millions of dollars from a single healthcare provider while also promoting a far-left agenda that does not align with many of their members. Hemming quotes AMAC CEO Rebecca Weber and highlights AMAC’s focus on serving its 2 million members and unabashedly standing up for their conservative values.

See excerpts below.

“If there is a silver lining to the corruption of the AARP, it’s that it is no longer the only interest group representing politically influential seniors. In 2007, Dan Weber founded the Association of Mature American Citizens (AMAC). Though Weber had himself been a member of the AARP, he was frustrated with the politically liberal direction of the organization, which was far more radical than most members realized.

“AMAC has also attracted millions of members by taking a very different approach than AARP: It doesn’t hide its politics and does its best to respond to the priorities of its members.

“‘We take our marching orders from our membership, and we publish and post right on the home page of our site, any calls to action, who we are, what we do, and what we stand for. We’re looking to advance policies that are going to, of course, empower people and help our members live long lives, keep more of their hard earned money in their pocket,’ says Rebecca Weber.”

“The good news is that AARP’s failings represent opportunities that, even 16 years in, AMAC is just beginning to capitalize on. ‘The advocacy work really has resulted in significant victories, and I do think that they’ve been underreported,’ says Weber.”

I dropped AARP because they no longer align with my views. I have been much happier with AMAC.

I saw the far left agenda that AARP was pushing 15 years ago. Now I notice that AARP runs ads that show “ordinary folks” saying “That while I don’t always agree with AARP…….” They have gotten the message that most conservatives don’t agree with their BS.

Proud to be an AMAC member, for several years now! I saw the ad they referenced in the article from AARP on FOX a couple weeks ago and thought to myself then, wow, AARP is really feeling the pressure! For them to come right out and tell me that, “You may not agree with everything AARP does…” Why in the world would I pay to be a member of an organization that I do not agree with? They are grasping at straws because they know they are hemorrhaging membership.

Agree! Why else would AARP be advertising that your values don’t have to align with them to be a member. They are running scared! Keep it up AMAC

I dropped AARP at last 10 years ago because of the leftist slant in everything they promote. Their sell out for Obama care was the last straw. As AMAC’s CEO recently clearly stated, AARP rolls out the same play book for every election cycle. Talks a great line but never holds politicians accountable for defending and protecting seniors issues and needs. Who will push for dental care and vision for seniors? When will we see legislation really protecting prescription costs . Who will push for real world cost of living increases for seniors. And what about almost abusive of open enrollment advertising we have to wade thru each year. And the dizzying, confusing double speak of Medicare enrollment and staying current.

Recented cancelled AARP and happily joined AMAC after seeing them recommend an 8th booster shot (!), it was just the last straw for me.

I have been trying to tell people for years how ultra liberal AARP is. More people need to know about the millions of dollars they have donated to the Democrats.

I just recently joined AMAC. So, far it looks like a terrific organization. They are telling the truth when they you don’t have to agree with them on everything. When I joined them, I said that I don’t agree with you on just 2 things. This was so, in case they didn’t want to have me as a member, They gave me a membership anyway. They sent me 3 free AMAC Magazines before I joined. I feel they were terrific magazines. I felt when I read them they knew what they were speaking about on everything. It was well written. I learned something from them to. I think the Customer Service was excellent and courteous. It was like you don’t see to much of anymore.

AMAC
You might enjoy this organization. They are conservative and they do the same thing as AARP.

How different are they. If you criticize AARP they censor you and don’t print your opinion. If you criticize Amac they censor you and don’t print your opinion. They’re two peas in a pod. AARP let’s me eat at Denny’s a little cheaper – what does Amac do for me? They’ve both sold your souls to the party line – and left seniors behind.
