Democrats are abandoning Mayor Karen Bass as the June 2 primary approaches.
A new poll shows Spencer Pratt has taken a narrow lead in the Los Angeles mayoral race, receiving 30.1% support among likely voters. The poll, conducted by McLaughlin & Associates in conjunction with the California Post, has Bass in second, at 29.5%, followed by City Councilwoman Nithya Raman, at 23.4%.
The poll found that 62% of voters believe Los Angeles is on the wrong track. Furthermore, it showed that Pratt has a strong pull with Hispanic voters, leading the field with 33% support, compared with 24% for Bass and 21% for Raman.
John McLaughlin, CEO of McLaughlin & Associates, told the California Post, “Normally it’s a slam dunk for the Democrats, but it’s being driven by the negatives on Bass.”
Pratt has focused much of his campaign on homelessness, public safety, and dissatisfaction with city leadership, arguing that voters are increasingly looking for a commonsense alternative to the city’s political establishment.
During the final mayoral debate hosted by NBC and Telemundo Los Angeles, Raman accused Pratt of being a “MAGA Republican,” to which he responded with a now-viral shrug.
In an interview with Fox News last week, Pratt, a registered Republican, explained why Democrats are rallying behind him.
“My supporters are all Democrats because Los Angeles is all Democrats. All the people financing me are Democrats. All the meetings I take all day are Democrats,” Pratt said.
“Democrats are very angry with what happened to Los Angeles. They were fed a bunch of lies by Mayor Bass, who said she was going to literally solve homelessness.”
Pratt added that a mayor’s allegiance should be to the people, not a political party.
“The mayor is not supposed to represent a party. They’re supposed to make sure your moms are safe, your houses don’t burn down, and your tax money is going to your infrastructure—not to fund drug addicts.”
In an interview with one city resident who voted Democrat his whole life, independent journalist Nate Friedman reported that the resident is “sick of all the stupidity” and is voting for Pratt.
“Homelessness is rampant, the city is dirty, they mishandled the fires—I consider myself a liberal but it’s just too extreme right now,” the resident told Friedman.
Democrat commentator Harold Ford Jr., speaking on Fox News, said he’s supporting Pratt as well.
“What he’s doing is what every politician should do. Whether you’re Democrat or Republican, [a candidate should] offer real, practical, actionable solutions to actual problems people are facing,” Ford said. “Angelenos understand homelessness is a problem. They understand public safety is a problem. They understand housing is unaffordable for most Californians.
“He’s actually offering answers—I say that as a Democrat. He could actually win this thing because people are fed up with the answers they’re not being given.”
Posting on X late last week, Pratt said Bass and Raman have “failed humanity.”

He has a job of Sisyphus ahead of him, better have the brass knuckles ready too, because it will be ugly, the old guard firmly in place will not be happy with the apple cart being upside down. I wish him the will and strength he’ll need to do what is the only thing to do if LA is to be saved. If he can stop the drugs flooding the city, that would need clean cops , half his battle would be done, I hope he surrounds himself with honest, capable people, there are more, than we think ,may God protect them and uplift them.
If Spencer Pratt wins I will be absolutely shocked. Also, the democrats will have nobody to blame but themselves if they lose because they have run that city into the ground with their “progressive” policies.
The aged old question for LA voters here, “what do ya have to lose”? This brave man has stepped forward to offer a solution, and you voters in LA,. have not had solutions in a very long time, or so it seems, as reported by those who have visited your city.
We The People who have common sense know that Bass is a corrupt loser who blames Trump for her long list of failures. But like other liberal cities and states around the country, the citizens there continue to vote for these corrupt politicians, who ultimately could care less about the voters once they’re in office. I hope for California voters that they’re waking up to the liberal BS, and that they’ll vote the Republican mayoral and gubernatorial candidates into office. Otherwise, Californians deserve what they’ll get with yet another bunch of democrats in power.
Is Bass doing anything about the insurance companies and the burned houses? NO! Pratt lost his in the fire. If he gets elect, how fast do you think the insurance companies will pay everyone??? Are you tired of Dems lining their pockets with YOUR money??? Then STOP voting them back into office! ! !
Is that a light at the end of the tunnel? It’s hard to believe that over 50% of the voters are going to wake up.
Pratt’s win will definitely be a surprise in CA. Hope and pray it is just the beginning of Californians in general Waking Up and taking back their state.
This is very good news, BUT… the Democrats have long had almost all of the elections in California rigged.
It’s time people rid themselves of the incompetence, and idiotic rules Democrats have imposed on the People of Los Angeles. Pratt has provided a platform of “real reforms” he will do, once he is voted in for Mayor of Los Angeles. Let’s part with Mayor Bass a woman who was in a foreign country when the Palisades fires broke out and ever since has done nothing to help people whose homes were devastated in the fires. We need Pratt to rid the streets of homelessness, needles and people dying on the sidewalks. Pratt will bring that kind of common-sense order he has been talking about since he entered the political arena. Vote for Pratt.
Hey AMAC, can’t make any comments on the Mandani article of today.
Ooh, Karen Basura and Nithya Ramen Noodles can’t have that! Now the cheating will begin in earnest. Remember, ballots will still be counted days after the actual election so there is plenty of time to dig up some dead voters. I used to live in LA County, and when I left Commiefornia in 2023, I notified the Registrar of Voters to remove my name so they couldn’t use my vote, but most people don’t think of that.
Brilliant statistician! LA will be so much better off!
This article seems to be very outdated! Pratt is now in 3rd place having been overtaken by that other woman with the foreign-sounding name.
Another example of ELECTION FRAUD, I’d say.
What about Democrats stealing the elections like mail in ballots****????
The way Ca. runs elections, don’t hold yer breath. Sure hope he wins, but it would be a miracle. This election practice in California, needs some scrutiny.
Bass is another Kamala. She does not accept any blame for any of the horrific things she has denied exist in LA just like Kamala did when she claimed the border was fine. They are both women who only take offices that allow them to be highly paid and no one cares if they actually do any of the work. Why anyone actually votes for these deadbeats is what I find mystifying.
If look at his number of 30.1%, he is very narrowly ahead of Bass at 29.5%. That means his current lead is only 0.6%. But there is a second left wing loony in the mix who is getting 23.4% of the vote. So if it ended now, The actual election would just be him and Bass without the extra leftie loony.
So that leftie loony’s votes will go to someone else. Since the loony is a far leftie and Bass is also a far leftie, who do you think will get most/all of those votes? Let’s say that Bass only gets half because half the extra loonies supporters decide not to vote because the extra loony is no longer in contention. That still gives her an additional 11.7% which far eclipses her current 0.6% deficit.
In order for him to win the actual election, the left wing loony voters would have to suddenly have a massive injection of common sense, which will not happen. So this will not end well for LA despite the false appearance right now. And… If the other leftie loony saw that she did not have a chance and dropped out before the primary (good chance here), Bass would get her votes and get over 50% in the primary and there would be no main election.
If he is elected, Dems will fight him every step of the way just as they do Trump.
A Rat is a Rat is a Rat. All of them are criminals and destroyers of all that is good.
How can this be? KKKalifornia voters finally LEARNING something!!?
NEVER gonna happen…
To be honest the Democratic party want America to be 3rd world country. Especially California and the rest of the United States of America. The Republicans are not helping.
Finally they Wake
